Logarusic: We lacked a finisher

Gor Mahia coach Zrdavko Logarusic admitted poor finishing denied them progress in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup after drawing 0-0 with ENPPI of Egypt at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday. The Croat tactician paid glowing tribute to his players despite bowing out of the competition in the first round for the second time in a row. Cafonline.com spoke to Logarisic after the match.

Cafonline.com: What is your overall take on the outcome of today’s match?

Logarusic: We had promised before this match to make our country proud against Egyptian opposition and we have done it today although we bow out we do so with our heads held high. We created many chances but lacked that killer finishing. Overall, I am proud of my young squad.

Cafonline.com: What was your team’s main undoing in the match?

Logarusic: We were solid at the back but could not score the needed goals. We missed Paul Kiongera and Edwin Lavatsa but still managed to do well. We needed a player who could plant the ball into the net and sincerely speaking we did not have such player in the field today. It could have been a different game had Kiongera or Lavasta played a part.

Cafonline.com: Do you think the game was won in Cairo when ENPPI won 3-0?

Logarusic: Yes. In Cairo we wasted a number of scoring chances. It was the same case in Nairobi. I have no idea where the game was won because even the ENPPI coach told me after the match that we played better than we did in Cairo a fortnight ago.
