Officials set to meet Gattuso

Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana has dispelled rumors that Gor Mahia’s midfield king pin Collins ‘Gatusso’ Okoth has been suspended by the technical bench for indecent character. Bwana instead said the team officials and the technical bench will be meeting the player later in the day on Wednesday to listen to his side of the story after a series of events point towards his alleged indiscipline at the club.

“We have heard rumors of Collins Okoth’s suspension and as secretary general I would like to inform our fans that there has been nothing of that sort from our office. All we know is that the player has been invited for a chat with the officials later today so we may understand what might have transpired last week. “Stated Bwana.

Sources from within reveal that Collins Okoth who is a regular penalty taker at Gor refused to take a penalty over the weekend when his team played Tusker in the Super Cup on Sunday. During the match that ended 1-1 in regulation time, Gor Mahia lost 4-1 to Tusker in post match penalties. There has also been word that Collins Okoth avoided the team’s Naivasha camp for a few days.

“Yes we understand he rejected appeals from the technical bench to take a penalty on Sunday and we would like to understand some few other  things that have been going on. We urge our fans to remain patient with the player and not to spread any harmful rumors that may eventually harm the conscience and performance of a player.” Urged Bwana.

To be sincere Its high time we suspended such kind of a player. we know Gatuso is a good player actually one of the best midfielders in Kenya Premier League but if he is indiscipline then the technical bench has all the right to take thye necessary action. there should be no sacred cows in the team and we should call a spade a spade . no player is more important than the other. Goalkeeper no # is as important as goalkeeper No 1 so mtu asitulete of no one should feel sweeter than the other. Period and no apology to make at all. thanks.

  • Before we call for any type of action on the player let’s first of all make sure that we have the whole story. It’s sad what is happening but if it’s a case of indiscipline then the right action needs to be taken. It’s better to lose with disciplined players that win with an indisciplined lot

When this same player started misbehaving last season, almost everybody on this blog accused ZD of having vendetta against Gattuso. Now the same player is doing the same thing. I want to hear who the blame is directed to now, may be to Headmaster Awono. Remember Gatuso had hinted leaving Gor end of last season. No teams can accomodate indiscipline of that nature. Let him take a break. After all in Gor, there are very many able players who can take up that role. Kama Okello Zangi alifukuzwa, kwani Gatuso ni nani? I said last year and I repeat, discipline is paramount, NOT negotiable. For God and my club Kogallo

Does this lad’s indiscipline follow the lunar calender? Is it seasonal? Perhaps the researchers from Ndhiwa should lend some advice now that they have even seen something about the blue colour of GM kit!

@jackowili i can not agree more and believe me not this guys suffers from from PARANOID behavior whenever we can not spot a full moon up in the SKY, that is basically a lunatic cycle.

But the origin of problem facing players like GATTUSSO comes from none other than “SISI MA-FANS” and i fully agree with @ Kosero that nobody is indispensable. Remember the wise saying “MGEMA AKISIFIWA POMBE ULITIA MAJI”.

JUST SWALLOW HIS CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS

I wish also to join my colleague fans first to commend the officials for giving this boy an opportunity to express himself . Two, we support any kind of discplinary measures the officials gonna recommend against this player.

Having said that, as fans we are also equally disturbed by unbecoming constant behavior of this particular player. If he refuses to take instructions from his coach, then this is gross misconduct. There is no compromise on this matter, he either tore the line or else ship out.

Gor Mahia is more important than an individual. We have very many potential youths out there who are eager to don the club jersey given an opportunity . Let Gatusso be warned well in advance that we have nothing personal but business. However he is ready to apologise, we will gladly accept.

    Over to you officials.

@ Ja Ngere i am happy to read your post no: 10 , And how do you find the City in the sun ?. Just like you have mentioned above I will also not comment on Gattuso for now because the more I debate him the more I will be killing his career.

But @ OKOTH JABILO I think LEGIO MARIA can easily excorse the ghost in the boy.

I BEG YOU BLOGGERS TO DESIST FROM MENTIONING AND COMPARING GATTUSSO TO “OKELLO ZANGI”,

Unless you want him to be finished in both his career and life.

I wish I had not started this issue although I have no regrets to indiscipline chaps.

Thank you @ Okoth Jabilo on post 6 and @Ogango Trailer on post 13.

Let’s be the wiser here by not condemning Gattusso ad lib. I know that the current EC follows this blog and takes seriously opinions raised here. I suggest that EC engages a professional counselor to assist this helpless chap out of his crisis. The sad thing is that he may not even be aware that he is in a crisis with himself.

On what basis is legendary Okello ‘Zangi’ being compared to Gatusso.Only similarity is both r/were headstrong off the field coz on the field Zangi was a talented attacking midfielder who regularly scored 10-15 goals per season also i don’t remember Zangi being sent off more times than other player-how when he was busy amazing everyone with his silky skills,Collins to be fair shld be compared(if we must/can)to legendary holding m/fielders Zamalek,Janabi,Engine Finally EC&bench stamp out these sideshows

  • Jackowili

Janabi was a holy and respectable man who was deployed by Jack Johnson on ‘search-and-destroy-missions’, a role he played with great efficiency and admirable loyalty to GM. Zamalek? Still a big No. Not comparable.

Discipline is paramount in our daily lives. The boy should be discipled once and for all because this is a bad example to other players. Gatusso is becoming too much and he needs some manners for hid career to flourish.

We are tired from time to time that this lad is always affecting the team morale.

    Reply
  • Godfery Oluoch has a point there. Give the lad the captaincy and the resposibility therein will just don’t leave him with time to engage on some of these actions. All the same we must hear his side of the story. The problem with us is that we rush to condem basis our judgement on the past actions. I think the best thing to do is to let the EC handle the issue as they have indicated instead of pre-empting the outcome. This might also be the time for us to test the combinstion of Akumu, Rama and Moses Otieno. It could just end up to be the key to all our midfield issues

We should not condemn before we hear his side of the story. But having said that, Gattuzo should be told that football needs Team work and that he must not behave in a manner that will kill the team-spirit we so desire for the success of SIRIKAL. He maybe a good player, but indiscipline will not take him anywhere. He requires the best of attitude for his career to flourish.

  • I know most bloggers watch our games. This lad has a very big and bad ego. People are saying they want to hear his side of the story but i don’t think this is captain material. Look at his hair, look at the level of his shorts when playing (sagging). In the Tusker game he kicked a player in an off the ball incident. He was lucky the referee didn’t see it. Please those who want to defend this character go ahead but the truth will come back to haunt you.

This boy needs to be disciplined. Period.

its unfortunate for collins to saw some kind of disrespect to coach, as GOR family lets give him time by listening to his side of story then we shall judge his habbits being positively or negatively, but if proove to be indiscipline the am sorry to say he should be relieved from club services, immeditely

If it is true that he absconded from camp, thats disciplinary issue that earns suspension for any player all over the world and should have been punished for it immediately(Rooney). If he extended this on to the playing field, thats totally unacceptable and he should suffer the Tevez style and that I would term the height of indiscipline. However I believe the office will handle the matter, but there is nothing like “his side of the story”. I do not believe that the Technical bench is so petty as to pick quarrel with a player for no reason.

  • REFUSING TO TAKE A PENALTY IS THE HEIGHT OF DISOBEDIENCE

Let us dwell on this matter for a little while.

Gor Mahia midfield maestro, Collins Okoth aka Gattuso on Sunday was a let down to this great club. When duty called on him to rise to the ocassion, he refused infront of his thousand plus admirers on the stands. I wonder what was going through their minds especially to those who are waving placards with the word GATISSO inscribed on them.

When I was shopping for a club jersey last season but one, I was torn betwween him and our no. 14 shirt. You know him well. I chose the latter instead of the former purely for the same reasons my comrades are advancing on this blog. Today I might be sharing the same feelings with his admirers today.

When a player don the green and white jersey, he should well know the same is equal to flag and we expect him to respect and defend the jersey at all times. I don’t want a pessimist but comrade Gatusso is not bringing honor and dignity to K’ogalo. But in our characteristic K’ogalo heart, let us give this boy a second chance. That does not mean displinary action should be taken against him if found guilty.

Research has shown that over 80% of short people have an attitude problem.its inborn and good councelling may cure it.Look at Tevez,Rooney n locally Gattuzo,Jamal etc.they always think they are belittled.and if Gatusso is gonna read all the issues raised about him here then he’s gonna take it to the next level.he’s gonna take this as provocation.kindly if he can’t adjust and fit in GM soccer then release him to a team of his choice.
