Awono spoilt for choice

From Standardmedia.co.ke

12times Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia coach Annaba Awono has admitted that he already has a headache in picking his first team.

The Cameroonian tactician made four changes on the team that drew 1-1 with Sudan giants El Merreikh a week ago when he faced league champions Tusker in the season’s curtain raising Dstv Super Cup where Gor lost 4-1 on post-match penalties after playing to a 1-1 draw in regular time.

First choice custodian Jerry Onyango who was in charge during the El Merreikh match was not in the line-up, not even on the bench, with Tanzanian international standing between the posts and his former team mate at relegated Bandari, Wyclife Kasaya being referred as the second choice.

Internationals Kevin Ochieng’, Kevin Omondi and Anthony Okumu who were regulars last season, were on the bench, with the likes of burly striker Hugo Nzangu who scored 10 goals for Sony Sugar last season, Ibrahim Kitawi, Solomon Nasio, Dan Makori and Moses Otieno not even making the bench.

Good players

“It is true that I have a headache every time I have to name a team for a match. I can’t say I have a constant first 11 at the moment, it is not easy, because each position now have about four very good players, but I would just want to urge the players to be patient because there are a lot of matches coming for the team,” said Annaba.

He added: “We all saw how well Kevin Ochieng’ played in the right full back position after Musa Mohammed was injured against Tusker and that is not even his traditional position. This leaves me with big decisions to make.”

Annaba, however, stressed that there was no outside interference in naming the team, noting that he normally does it alone after consulting his assistant coaches.

No external pressure

“I have no external pressure at all in naming my team. I name my team after watching the players in training and I do that after consulting the other coaches. Gor has 30 very good players so the competition is very high and I think I will continue using the rotational policy to be able to give each player a chance to prove himself,” Annaba said.

He added: “We have the Kenyan Premier League, Cup competition, Confederation Cup and top eight to compete in so I believe a time will come for each player.”

Meanwhile, skipper Jerry Onyango has welcomed competition from Mapunda and Kasaya, saying it would produce the best from him.

“Competition this season is tough in every department and everyone will have to work extra hard to be in the first team and I am not an exception. Mapunda is very experienced and I learn a number of things from him, he also learns a lot from me and it is healthy for the team,” he said.

  • AN OPEN LETTER TO COACH AA

Happy new year Sir and welcome again to the hot seat.

We are profoundly honored to have you as coach of the arguably the biggest and most successful club in East Africa. I have very scant information about you as coach but I have confidence with the officials of the club who gave you the job.

The job is well cut out for you. By now , you have a clear history of the club. The members whose pride and appetite for results is well known by all and sundry. I come from maasailand and I believe we share the same feelings with my brodas ( to use a Nigerian accent). Nothing can stop them especially when their pride us at stake.

As you go about your normal duties, these are some of the things you should put in your mind. These feelings rise even higher when we play perenial rivals, AFC Leopards. In a nutshell, we demand value for our money.

As a loyal fan, I will promise you my unflinching support throughout the season. I know the challenge is tough but with deductible, teamwork and tough sacrifices, we can win the trophy this season. Best of luck to you.

  • Hi coach and technical bench, What i have to notice is that we r poor in spot kicks. its now the third time that we fail. What au doing to prove on that. I realized that our players were tired what kind of training were they undergoing in the camp? What u should know we have taken losses for a long time this time round if u cant make a team u better leave as a lone.We r sad that u can field all new players as if we never had players last team. Your line up Mapunda, Musa,Yusuf, Owino,Musoti,Colins,Rama,Ali, Midenyo,Moses and Ngwa did not help Next time when given opportunity tray any of the three goalkeepers,Nasio,Yusuf,Musoti Owino, midfield-Peter Juma,Duncan Owiti,Colins Okoth,Kiplangat and Rama LOne striker Ngwa

@ Post No:2 Ndugu pareyio ole lelerue that “OPEN LETTER TO ANABA AWONO aka “AA” is spot on and there is no any other way to put it other than “In a nutshell, we demand value for our money” PERIOD!!!.

“Coach “AA” you have what it takes to move “K’GALO” to the next level, from the technical-knowhow,supportive EC, Players and last the “Ever demanding supports from the GREEN ARMY currently being turned into a”BLUE-ARMY” by hook or crook.

@Albert Kosero for once i agree with your previous post that we over recruited to the extent that some players careers are certainly heading to the “DUST-BIN”.The fact the the coach has confirmed his weakness in coming up with a first eleven line-up is clear indication that the recent recruitments were done haphazardly without 100% in-put from technical bench .

@arrumtiddi, Ogango Trailer is very much omni-present and also pleased to hear that “@Ja Ngere” is back from the “village”. Its my honest believe that this time round he will all read and speak from the same script with all and sundry in this blog; despite the fact that our opinion are based on how we see and judge things from very diverse perspective.

@arrumtiddi, the fact that @Albert Kosero has resigned to the extent of saying that “K’OGALO will bounce back once Thika United has hammered us on Sunday has re-energized my intention to bounce back and contribute optimistically on this blog-sphere to enable the team to excel on SUNDAY and shame the doubting “Thomases”.

@Albert Kosero “ROME WAS NOT BUILD IN A DAY”, let us forget DSTV-CUP tie with tusker and focus on THIKA UNITED.

@OGANGO TRAILER, how I wish we had this same attitude last season. Its really refreshing to hear from none other than yourself, talking of “ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY”, yet you wanted it built in half a day last season. What has changed? Anyway, lets compare notes after the milk berby. For God and my club Kogallo

As a loyal fanatic of GM for many years inclusive of the dark days when paltry 350 supporters used to attend our matches; I have all reasons to believe that we are yet to see the best out of this outfit. It’s true as @ Ole has said on post No:2 that we have zero tolerance to failure due to our high expectation. But I would rather be happy that our llast two matches against El Mereik and Tusker has provided the Technical bench with the much needed real-time assessment on the style of play, coordination of players, teamwork and playing methodology ratings to the extent that starting this Sunday there will be no room for experimenting and fumbling with players.

I BEG TO REMAIN VERY OPTIMISTIC AND BELIEVE IN THE CURRENT TECHNICAL BENCH AND THE CROP OF PLYERS TO DELIVER TROPHIES IN THE YEAR 2012.

    Yes people..

There will be no more excuses, i beg to ask

A person said on Sunday soon after the bizarre penalty loss to Tursker that GM never wins any Cup penalty shoot outs and that it has dodged K’ogalo since inception!

Question.. as we’ve been failing to win opening matches for some time now, are we to believe that expect a funny outcome this Sunday?

With even more respect to Bro Kosero..what have you based your GM hammering on Sunday by Thika on..

Grapevine also has it that one in disciplined midfielder is wrecking havoc in GM.. Ogango what sayest thou sir Journalist?

@ Post 4 Albert Kosero nothing much has changed on comrade OGANGO TRAILER of last season a part from the change of guard that took place on GM technical bench.

And believe me brother ALBERT that i rate your opinions very highly when dwelling with issue’s pertaining to “K’OGALO” due to your long and rich history in associating with the club.

But having said that i also expect to see a lot of very positive energy and optimistic attitude from yourself this season.

As for the “milk derby” coming on this Sunday i can sleep very relaxed knowing that am rest assured that the jinx that existed at “THIKA-STADIUM” for years since the days of “KTM F.C” was at long last broken last year with a swift LAVATSA strike in the first half and super-sub KEVO “DADDY” brace in the second half.

MAY BE @ “OKOTH JABILO” CAN EXPOUND IF THE WIN WAS AS A RESULT OF PROPER “RESEARCH” ON THE GROUND OR WE FLUKED.

@ Post 6 Agwa Kassam i never intended to let out this very sensitive issue in the public domain; but it seems some guys are fast at leaking out confidential GM issue.

Yes @ Agwa Kassam there is an internal war in GM between the new signings and old-guards. GATTUSSO is not indiscipline but rather an individual with very independent stand and he will always say it as it is.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE LAD IS HOW TO JUDGE HIS COOL AND THE TIMINGS OF HIS BURST-OUT WITH THE BENCH.

During our DSTV tie with TUSKER some of the old guards were given a dressing down and one of the player was tripped of captaincy in the changing room at the eleventh hour. “The performance you saw on the bench was aripple effect of what transpired during the four days camping in Naivasha and the rest i will keep it to myself, since its too early to engage on side shows.

The earlier the bench and EC can resolve the issue of captaincy the better it will be for the players to gel around the team leader. JERRY has lost his position to mapunda and so goes the captaincy. Gattusso was the oblivious successor but his ‘DISCIPLINE ON THE PITCH” is questionable and so the question is who will it be.

Will the bench ignore the old guards and go for a new comer like RAMA or MAPUNDA the answer is NO. Then who amongst the old guard will be a regular player day in day out and commands respect from both camps and the answer is none. “K’OGALO IS IN CATCH 11 WITH THE ISSUE.

@ Post 7 OGANGO TRAILER believe me or not, hate it or love it but “RESEARCH” are there to stay in KOGALO for ever and ever AMEN.

Already rumors doing round is that the “THE BLUE JERSEY ” has been declared to a colour of bad omen according to the latest research consultant based in NDHIWA.

And for your information just ask @ Albert Kosero and he will confirm to you KO’GALO is very superstitious by nature.

    NB:
As for the captaincy why can we give it to MAPUNDA since he is elderly, experienced and disciplined.

Sir Okoth Jabillo, now that you have declared the so called research as part of your GM mentality and added for ever, since JFO has now lost his position..will people not be talking of research sabotage from the same people who’ve lost their positions and hence funny loses on the pitch?

Well, to me decision on who’s adorning the arm band must at this point be very tricky and would leave the burden to the tech bench.

However, all players new and old must be told or be advised that football is now a profession just like Accountancy, Law, teaching and others in which they must observe extreme discipline including all decisions made by the tech bench.

The followers we are, must also not spoil some players by praising them when they are wrong and we should not encourage them to drink alcohol and take hard drugs since these habits do not improve players but destroy their development and work rate on the pitch. But you find most us showering them with filthy descriptions and even buy them strong drinks then expect them to give their maximum during matches.

I still believe that a player should have the least to tell to the tech bench..i am not a trained coach but i know a student who wants to excel takes every bit of instruction from the teacher as the Biblical truth!

Anyway with all that i still await good performance and deserved results from the team.

  • I once said the weak link has been the left back position and i thank God the coach has finally seen it. i proposed that for this position i prefer kevin ochieng and for the number seven give it to kiplangat and expect fireworks. the problem in our midfield is that its not that they lack skill rather they play the same kind of game. you cant have moses, rama, ali and gatusso in one game coz they play the same kind of game and the former three cannot defend no wonder and i agree with what gatusso said in on of the blogs that we are good with the ball but poor when we dont have it. i prefer i mid with kiplangat, gatusso, makori, rama with the latter doing the distribution, gatusso playing defensive role and kip and makori attacking and defending the wings. thats my opinion. sunday we are winning either way and please coach build confidence in the lads coz they are good. someone saud we over recruited please there is nothing like over recruiting in soccer what matters is how well you utilise them in the coming games and they are many games coming.

The coach admits he’s spoilt for ‘choice’ yet of late the performance of the team is lucklustre.4 me AA’s last two matches do not reflect the astute tactical prowess/promise he showed last season. K’galo now has ‘everything’ the followers, the players, the sponsorship, supposedly the bench n EC so y isn’t this reflected on the pitch in terms of style n goals! Teams of ’83-’87 was the true meaning of ‘spoilt 4 choice’ n they showed on the field in terms of class n goals in their mostly green kit.

  • IF THIS RESEARCH ‘THING’ HAS NOT WON WORLD CUP FOR AFRICA, WIILL IT FOR KOGALO?

My answer is a big NO. However for those of our fans who believe this research ‘thing’ can give us the league cup this season, so be it.

In Maasailand, a section of my community still consult these researchers on daily basis for various reasons. From Rombo in Lotokitok to Enoosaen in Transmara, these men are still offering their services.

I want to declare here now that I do not personally approve their activities. I am a born again Christian. I do hope my brothers and sisters from maasailand and Luoland who still believe in them will one day see the light.

Back to football, the milk derby is here. Let us turn our focus to the match. I wish to urge our boys to play as if we are in the finals. A win on Sunday at Thika is going to be morale booster as we go for a treble this season.

To comrade A. Kosero of Kampala branch, I am pleased to see you blogging. Comrade O. Trailer is there too and as usual he has started thing. I do hope we shall continue to make this blog as exciting and full of fun. Thanks a million times.

Coach Anaba Awono please refer to @8 Okoth Jabilo: “time is up and there is no more room for experimenting and fumbling with players”.

Coach let’s be honest: the results you are posting are nothing to write home about. Elsewhere in this blog I reminded you of one Len Julians who made it a routine for Gor Mahia to win matches by 4-0 margins in one entire season, continental matches inclusive….Yes coach, that is the benchmark!! I am sorry coach but that is the reality.

I beg to differ with you @17 Sir Jerry coz I think it will be the usual solitary goal we score these days, unless the coach has finally connived some scoring magic.

Coach please read the mood for I have a feeling the honeymoon is almost over.

  • I can’t doubt that there is noise in the changing room. I sat next to about 10 Kogalo players during the Tusker game and their faces showed frustration. Guys seem to lack motivation. Reasons maybe Ogango knows. But that is Kogalo life.

For captain i would suggest Mosoti. I know he is new but he is an experienced KPL player and looks serious enough to handle the big egos in the team. He is also likely to push play from the back.

Sir Jerry, we are judging this team after more than five matches. The friendlies were the five matches. El Mereikh and Tusker were real games and the team flopped in both. The issues bloggers are raising here with our game don’t match the talk of ‘Spoilt for Choice’

My understanding of ‘Spoilt for Choice’ would be a scenario where every player is so good the coach is wondering whom to play and whom to bench.

Mzee Awono i believe that you won the FKL cup or was it Zico? If it was you then the players that won it should have been the first 11 then you build from there with new acquisitions on the weak points. If that team beat AFC and Sofapaka on the way to the cup, why can’t you just add Mosoti in Masika’s place, Ngwa in Lavatsa’s place, Yusuf on left back, Mapunda in goal and leave Rama and all new signings as a super subs as they understand your style and gel with the rest? There is a Ugandan (Mubiru) who really impressed me against City Stars on the left wing and you let him go so i believe you signed better players.

Lastly, Mzee Awono, if you can read English, please deal with anyone disrupting your plans ruthlessly because in Kogalo the buck stops with you. If it is a powerful man then just shout loudly in the press.

We have a t/bench whose mandate is very clear, lets’ play our roles as fans and lets not overstep our mandates. The separation of powers between the 4 ‘arms’ of the team ie ec,t/bench,players and fans should always be respected.
The season has not even began yet some of us have started questioning AA’s capabilities, yet the very fans were hailing him for bringing the turn around at kogallo just 3 or 4 games ago(excluding the pre season friendlies)
Lets’s be patient with the team and let the t/bench do their work.

Whats all this sh** abt fighting over captaincy, new n old players. If thats the problem then bench n EC shld read the culprits the riot act, its 2 early 4 such siasa/nonsense!

  • IMPORTANT: Verily, verily I say this unto you bloggers: avoid the sideshows that are slowly but surely creeping into the contributions of a small clique in the blogsphere. They know themselves. Please kindly let us sobberly, and without fear or favour address the issues affecting our club. As fans, we can only wait for official communication from the EC concerning certain issues before we can comment on them. Does Terry and FA issue ring a bell, anyone? Quite a number of bloggers are already castigating and maligning some of our very dependable players on issues that are just but hear-say and speculations. Pls hold your horses as there is no crisis at the club, neither wth descipline of the regular players or the captain’s arm-band. Stop discussing non issues and refering to our regular players as old guards. Are Gattuso, Akumu, Kevin, Daddy, Lavatsa, Musa, Makori or Kip sound old-guard by any description? I want to state here and now that there is no Vacancy for a coach at GOR MAHIA. THE TEAM need our unequevocal, relentless and undivided support. But as you may be aware, a constructive and positive criticism aired in a civilized manner is equally good for the growth of the team. This does not translate into ‘us’ bloggers being COACHES. I believe Coach AA and Co were given the jobs on merit, but complacency must nt be allowed creep into their coaching abilities. The quality of play on display and the results will either approve or disaprove their credential. They have a lot of time to carry out some corrective surgery on the TEAM, ie finding the best combination and positions/roles 4 the players. Hatuwezi kuwapaka mafuta mgongoni, ni bora tuwaambie ukweli mapema jameni. The expectations are too high but 4 the coaches, they have to be met. Have you ever wondered why from 1994 one of the best trained coaches in Africa- Bob Oyugi has never tried to make a come-back in Club Management? Its because his stds requires him to coach only clubs in the class of GM. Its the pressure of being at the helm of GM that has kept Bob away. So Coach AA and Co, pls welcome to the pressure cooker that is GOR MAHIA. Engraved at the door of the ASSEMBLY HALL in SBC are these words (FROM THOSE TO WHOM MUCH HAS BEEN GIVEN, MUCH WILL BE REQUIRED). This club has acceptable standards that must be maintained at all times. For the uninitiated, these stds are wht prompted the EC to sanction the signing spree just conducted. Its the tribal pride that spurred Eric Masika to ditch GM for AFC Leopards. Otherwise how would you explain his reasons for leaving, as GM finished above AFC Leopards, has better players, a stable EC and is likely to finish above AFC Leopards in the coming season. Coach AA and Co, you have what is considered by many to be one
of the most talented group of players. The work of a coach is to transform talents, prospects and abilities into a finished tactical and technical product/player. The players’ duty is to listen and to learn from the coaches. Pls coach AA, grasp the enomity of the fact that you coach GM and not any other club. You have been saddled with the enomous task of harnessing these distinct and separate talents into a ‘TEAM’ that plays free flowing football. Do not hesitate coach AA to wield the axe whenever appropriate. As the coach, you are responsible for the team’s performances. Your man-management will severely be tested because you will have to try and keep all these big egos happy. Coach AA and Co, you have the enviable duty of coming up with a first team and a first eleven immediately the league kicks-off. You must have at least four leaders on the pitch at the same time that you are going to build your team around. This is equivalent to having 4 captains on the pitch. You will need a competent Goal-keeper, a leader for the Defence line, a leader for the Midfield and Attack. GM is followed religiously by the so called fans/fanatics/ Green Army. In this club, reputation counts for very little or nothing especially when results go against your team. I remember the many occasions in the past that stones and all sorts of misiles would be rained on us all because GM had drawn or lost a match. These so called fans would beat anybody on their sight regardless of your position in the club past or present. Two such occurences took place when two of our legends- Austin Oduor and Tobias Ochola were coaches of the club. The players and the coaches had to be locked in the dressing room 4 their safety. I have used that story to drive home the point of emotions running high during GM matches. The sole reason why the club had to shell a tiddy sum of money to sign players, is to WIN TROPHIES beginning this year. With the single-mindedness of a ballerina dancer, the TEAM MUST persue this goal, this year and beyond. Operation RETURN GM TO THE GLORY DAYS has just been launched/ begun. We long for the days when the stadiums would be filled to the rafters by 11am for a match set to kick off at 4pm. Thank you.

@ Le Pastre now that the issue of GATTUSSO has officially reported to the public domain by none other the SG (G.BWANA) courtesy of “MICHEZOAFRIKA.COM”.

And as a matter of fact the issue at stake is why he absconded training in NAIVASHA for two days and besides that the lad also refused to take the penalty shoot outs during the DSTV cup with TUSKER despite several appeals from the technical bench.

@ Post 28 Le Pastre , when @ Post 9 Agwa Kassam inquired to get further information regarding the issue from me without even mentioning the culprit do that warrant you to label us as per your statement shown below

All teams have small issues but talking about our own players and their errors in the media will cause us so many problems this season. The guy is apologetic yet he is already being called a conman by our very own supporters. Surely, is this how to build a team of champions?

Many gifted players need help in terms of character and that’s why we were happy to have an experienced father figure for a coach. One even abused a referee the other day and got a straight RED CARD. Please guide these boys. Discipline them.

I posted the above on 28th January when it was Felixinho and i raised a red flag about Gatusso and in a few days we are seeing the same story in the media (Officials to meet Gatusso). What nonsense is this? Can’t Bwana operate quietly? Do we imagine that only Gor Mahia has a player who didn’t train with his colleagues? Must it be discussed in blogs?

Please officials, let bloggers enjoy their bit but work with the bench and players to deliver results quietly. Players too we need to see results on the pitch not this shenanigans of Midenyo warns Tusker. So and so ready for akia ng’a.

I’ve always believed that any person younger than me should be considered a sibling.

We may think of ourselves as rumor mongers or any other terms but since i don’t bet.. i promise my belief that many people would not celebrate seeing these young people destroy themselves through vices like in discipline, drunkenness or immorality.. I’ve met fans who talk of having spoken to players positively for change from destructive habits and i think its good since i’ve not heard of GM hiring counselors or financial advisers for our young lads.

Guys in discipline hurts us as fans and it affects the team’s performance..as such it is and should be deterred either through forceful measures or counseling but when one one misbehaves in the pitch it must be severe..hence reference to our players should not be violent or treated as such because we do speak about it or should do so out of concern but not malice!

WHAT A DAY IN THIS BLOG! YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY!

THANK YOU BLOGGERS FOR YOUR LIVELY DEBATES

The “PLAYERS INDISCIPLINE” debate is a testimony to the fact that this blog is now very active and i can personally declare that this website is “officially” of K’OGALO die-hard supporters where pertinent issue’s that have been hidden under the carpet will always see the light of the day.

    1. THE GENESIS OF THE STORY

@Agwa Kassam on Post no:8 tickles OGANGO TRAILER,below!

“Grapevine also has it that one in disciplined midfielder is wrecking havoc in GM.. Ogango what sayest thou sir Journalist?”

    2. THE JUICE OF THE STORY

@ OGANGO TRAILER on Post no;10 responds with a bare knuckles fist and hits the nail on the head without mincing words, below!

“Yes @ Agwa Kassam there is an internal war in GM between the new signings and old-guards. GATTUSSO is not indiscipline but rather an individual with very independent stand and he will always say it as it is.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE LAD IS HOW TO JUDGE HIS COOL AND THE TIMINGS OF HIS BURST-OUT WITH THE BENCH.”

    3. THE FIGHT BACK

@Le Pastre on Post no 28 quickly picks up the debate , reads some ulterior motives in between the lines and swiftly counters the arguments authoritatively, below!

“Quite a number of bloggers are already castigating and maligning some of our very dependable players on issues that are just but hear-say and speculations. Pls hold your horses as there is no crisis at the club, neither wth descipline of the regular players or the captain’s arm-band.”

    THE COUNTER ATTACK

@ OGANGO TRAILER on post no: 33 & 35 tells of Le Pastre to hold his horses and swallow his word, below!

“On this blog we don’t wait to hear official communique from EC but we have reliable and dependable inside sources that will always leak out the hidden issue for us to digest and discuss.

So be informed that you are entitled to your own opinion and keep it as such. If you find bloggers discussing issue do not distract our discussions with your high volume novels that have neither the tail or head.”

THE ISSUE IS OFFICIALLY REPORTED IN THE PUBLIC MAIN

@OGANGO TRAILER on Post no; 35 as usual can not wait to take the opportunity to claim the “BRAGGING RIGHTS”, below!

“@ Le Pastre now the issue of GATTUSSO has officially been reported to the public domain by none other the SG (G.BWANA) courtesy of “MICHEZOAFRIKA.COM”

“@ Le Pastre you can not do any damage repair to the issue at the moment and i have left you to swallow your words very humbly; so that next time before you write your defensive article please; inquire, digest and consult widely because our sources of info is very reliable and dependable.”

    THE END

    And my day is over.

My take on how to solve our troublesome right-back position is two-fold. Before the transfer closed we would have had a triangle solution.i.e buying a right back. Now the solution is home-made. So here we go.

1A. Continue playing Solo Nasio or Musa in a 4:3:3 formation but with an emphasis on fielding a right sided midfielder (RAM) in a diamond shape ala FC Barcelona system. This is a very fluid system and needs players whose work-rate is super. (RAM) must be capable of continuously tracking back to share the defensive role with Nasio. Whenever Nasio attacks the flanks of the opponent this midfielder should step inside to anticipate any rapid counter-attack by the opponent if we lose the ball. This midfielder should be Kevin Ochieng (Master) because he has the skills, the strength, and the speed to track back in case we lose the ball. This would be loosely translated to mean- For example

    16.Mapunda 19.Nasio/5.Musa 15.Owino 7Y.Juma 4.Mosoti. Mid of three 13.Gattuso 17.Makori 2.K.Ochieng Front three 28.Ngwa 21.Rama 25.Moses Odhiambo.

1B.Play the 4:4:2 system with two inter-changing central defensive midfielders (CDM) ala the Arsenal midfield of 2003-2004 season of Paddy and Gilberto Silva. Remember this combo won the EPL unbeaten. Because we have Gattuso, Moses Otieno, Teddy and Peter Juma in this position , the coach can go with either combo but I would settle with the tried and tested- Gattuso and Moses Otieno. The twin CDM would each support either wing-backs when we are under attack.

    For example
    16.Mapunda 5.Musa 15.Owino 4.Mosoti 7.Y.Juma mid 13 Gatuso 30.M.Otieno 10.Abondo 21.Rama front two Selenga 12.Midenyo.

A 4:4:2 system offers a solid base as the mid-fielders tend to be closer to each other and to the defenders hence is less susceptible to counter-attacks. I would go with this system as both our wing-backs are not quick on take-off and recovery ala P. Evra or a young Ashley Cole.

Please note that against Tusker, M. Musa and Y. Juma were both exposed because Ali Abondo, Rama and Moses have the natural instincts of (CAM)central attacking mid-fielders and hence they tend to track back less. We also played narrowly through the middle and Tusker exploited this to their advantage. They continuously pushed their wingers especially Paul Were to attack GM from the flanks. To correct this, the coach should have opted for the following subs- 1. Pull Ngwa out and put Teddy in to share (CDM) responsibilities with Gattuso. Abondo should have been instructed to spread play to the wings to stretch Tusker wing-backs. An uninjured Midenyo should have continued as the tip of the attack with Selenga and Kevin Ochieng replacing Moses Odhiambo and Ali Abondo. I hope that we will continue to share together, without emotions and frayed nerves our experiences and ideas on how to make our TEAM GOR MAHIA great and invincible once again, not only in Kenya but in Africa too. Thank you all and God Bless you.

Why r u people charging our green and white colours ?We are not happy in a blue colour, a white tuzo colour and a green tuzo colour. Was the condition of sponsorship to charge our colours? We want back green and white, why ar u nowdays looking like PNU project on the field, What is the secret behind the blue and doing a way with our colours of identity. R u a political team better in orange colours than those forced colours bcoz of money. Gor is ours and if there is sponsorship to our condition not there’s or they park and leave our identity a lone. Lets see those a dapted colours in THIKA our 1st match.
