K’Ogalo coach Williamson reveals to Goal that Erick Ochieng’, Musa Mohammed and Anthony Akumu, picked knocks against US Bitam and may not be involved

Gor Mahia are sweating with the fitness level of three key players as they prepare to face Nairobi in a Kenya Premier League match at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday.

K’Ogalo coach Bobby Williamson has revealed to Goal that Erick Ochieng’, Musa Mohammed and Anthony ‘Teddy’ Akumu, picked knocks during Sunday’s Caf Champions League duel against US Bitam and may not be involved against the Kawangware-based club.

“We are awaiting doctors’ report to ascertain whether the trio will play any part in (Thursday’s) season opener. Akumu and Ochieng’ don’t look good to me but an assessment will be made probably today (Wednesday) on their fitness level.”

Gor Mahia will now shift their attention on defending the league title after cruising to the next round of the lucrative Caf competition at the expense of US Bitam of Gabon.

“I might to be forced to rotate my squad because we need to give some player’s time to rest. City Stars are not a side to underrate but we are prepared to start our campaign on a positive note.”

The Scottish tactician praised his side as well as goalkeeper and captain Jerim Onyango following the performance away in Gabon.

“It was a solid performance and Jerry (Onyango) was outstanding to save four penalties. We played very well and everyone worked as a team. I was pleased with the boys and we now shift our focus to the next round against Esperance of Tunisia.”

Congrats Kogalo. Even though we have a few injuries, our quest to retain our title cannot be derailed. This is the time we dig deep into our squad. We r well equipped to trounce most teams even with our 2nd squad. U go for it boys!
