Kagere feels like the forgotten man

Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere has told the Nation newspaper that he feels unappreciated and forgotten by the club. Speaking from his base in Rwanda, Kagere who is yet to renew his contract went further to say that even the media did not appreciate his contribution.

“They forgot about me, I was forgotten even in the awards. Kenya is not my home, he said.

Kagere says he has better offers on the table. This makes it increasingly unlikely that he will return.

“There are four clubs in different countries that have tabled good offers, but I am still talking with them (Gor). Gor’s offer is significantly lower than these other clubs but I’ll let you know when I make up my mind. If it (the talks) fails then I’ll proceed to a new destination,” he continued.

There are reports that he has been offered up top Ksh 9 million by various clubs including his former club K Tiranna of Albania.

When Kagere joined Kogalo in January, he stated that his  goal is to return to Europe as soon as possible. He repeated the claim.

“The KPL is very competitive. It is even more competitive than Rwanda and certainly more competitive than Uganda, but my aim is to return to Europe,” he continued to the Nation.

He has contributed immensely to the club in 2015. But Every footballer has ambitions. One cannot fault Kagere for seeking greener pastures after all he probably only has a few more years left.

Gor Mahia would therefore be wise to start looking elsewhere to complete their CAF squad before the January 2015 deadline.

is tha 9m per month?? kama ni hiyo pls take that Bro, whichever club is offering it. Gor would struggle to match even 1% of that.

God bless u for your contribution… God bless Gor Mahia

  • I believe every single Gor Mahia fan appreciates Kagere & his contribution to the club. The fact that he was not among the players awarded in the just concluded in the season is not a certificate to demand unreasonable signing fee taking into account that the club still lack sponsors.Patiency pays & he would be better off also appreciating Gor Mahia fraternity for giving him an opportunity to rediscover his form & career which had nosedived.Let him swallow his pride & sign for one more season or move on instead of doing media briefings depicting him as a saint & the club as a devil.I rest my case & wish him well.

BTW why havent Kogalo conducted a fund raiser yet. Are they waiting for February to tell us they have no money to host CNAPS or travel to Mahamasina? Nauliza tu

  • Meddie is a class act and probably the greatest and is real value for money. If gor was private property and I owned it. ..I would have paid meddie any amount of money he asks for.

Unfortunately, I feel the club is better off trying to convince Dennis oliech a season with kogallo as a contribution back to the society. Dennis oliech, I hope you are reading bro!

Being nominated for awards is not the preserve of Gor Mahia fc…if it was, every Gor player would have been nominated and won.
That said…it’s all agreeable that Meddie help our course last season, however that should not be used as leverage to ask for unreasonable amounts like 6m knowing our current financial limitations..it was a team effort,no player can claim the throne of being king here!!

  • Kagere is a gud player n well behaved but if it is time you leave then pls do so in peace. You cannot claim u have been offered 9 mil but still mentioning Gor. It’s a pity to even thnk that Gor shud come up with that kind of money. I would kindly suggest that u go to europe if this is true. You’ll b remembered well in Gor. B carefull not to insult the club that has fed u.

Gor Mahia should stop thinking about Kagere and shop for a replacement as soon as possible. Gor Mahia cannot afford those millions Kagere is talking about.

With this kind of mentallity from gor bloggers just bashing kagere coz of his honest thoughts n sentiments. Me don’t see gor going anywhere this is a guy who was engine of gormahia n the one who discovered olunga. When the gor office reads some of these comments they just laugh laugh laugh coz there are those who support their mediocrity. I think the best thing gor could ve done is to tell kagere they can add 1million to previous 2million to make it 3million as current sign in fee n if he refuses then they let him go. Bloggers don’t cheat yourself all those players whose contracts expired were given new contracts with sign in fee no wonder they are quite. So bloggers don’t expect to be told how they secured money to pay olunga n the rest
so I urge gor officce to do the same to kagere. otherwise I say here without hiding that olunga might flop without kagere

  • We are fatalists; no ambition,so we dream of another unbeaten and preliminary CAF stage. If you look at how Meddie plays;when Olunga leaves soon,Meddie will easily partner with a new young striker. We should NOT loose Meddie if we are serious with CAF.What happened to Keroche;were they partnering with us for one match only?

Guys, I think Gor has no iput on who gets nominated or who gets the final awards. Olunga and also Aucho felt shortchanged in the awards but how could we help? No way.

On agree I hope he reconsiders his stance. Apart from the mainstream Europe where soccer is well established the other countries like Armenia are equally suffering economically and cannot afford to pay their foreign legion.

All the same if Meddie is offered 9m then as Gor we should encourage him to go for it. How long is a player’s useful life.? Very short. At 29 Meddie just has less than 23 years to play at the top.

t’s good he gave us good service but we also gave him the platform.

That doesn’t mean that Gor doesn’t need him but he needs to be selfish and make a decision that will help him post-football.

On another note soka25east reports that we are close to clinching a sponsorship deal. Is it another hot air?

Sponsorship announcements are songs we have become used to like ‘ywak punda”…… no deal unless Rachier pens his signature. count it as rumors.

Sometimes players and agents use such tactics as a negotiating tool to get a better deal

  • The big latedown is the Gor youth programme. What exactly is it there for if it cannot turn into a feeder arm. These guys need to work harder in identifying the Nairobi youngstars. Players like Kagere et Cheche shud go to these clubs that r ready to offer them millions instead of wasting Gor mahia’s time. Have they given Gor a guarantee that they can take the club to the money stages in the Champions league? So Kagere, you did well at Gor but pls move on. EC shud also be more strict on these has-been-to-Europe who come to train at Gor angling for money. The Were experience shud have been a lesson learnt. Why is the club now doing the same with Cheche? Remember how the Zambian player took off with Gor money. Why are all these clubless players always ‘training’ at Gor?

It is an open secret that Kagere was appreciated and he knows that. Unfortunately to the kPL podium as a club we did not have any control. On matters of affordability we just cannot afford what is being reported that he is asking for under the circumstances. I therefore think that for good financial management we would have short ourselves on the foot by giving false hope that we could. The best thing therefore is to let him go for the greener pastures and as Kogallo family we love him and we wish him well. Under the circumstances God will lead a very good player to our fold
