Jerim Confident of winning on Sunday

Gor Mahia skipper Jerry Onyango is full of confidence that his team will win its first silverware of the season on Sunday when they play KPL Top 8 defending Champions Ulinzi Stars at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

Onyango says with the current form, not even a speeding train can derail their quest and thirst for a title.

“All my team mates, the technical bench and the management have been with us and helped us a lot to be where we are. The fans have been with us both in good and in bad times. It is our time to reward them and I have faith that come Sunday, we will be placing the Top 8 title in our cabinet,” Jerim told Michezoafrika.com.

“We are very happy to be in the finals and we have a point to prove that we are also capable of winning this trophy and we could have also won it last year. Every player is focused on that final. We know Ulinzi is a quality side and we expect a tough match. However,we are equally prepared for them,” he adds.

Gor Mahia will go into the match having easily overcome Tusker 4-0 on aggregate in the semi finals. They were awarded a walk over when AFC leopards boycotted their first round match.

Ulinzi on the other hand have been made to struggle by two sugar belt teams in their journey to the final. They won 3-1 on post match penalties against Chemelil Sugar before winning 3-2 on aggregate against Sony in the Semi Finals.

Ulinzi beat the green army 1-0 in their league match in the first leg and Zdravko Logarusic’s charges will be out to extinguish the flames of the first leg loss with a creamy win in the Top 8 Finals.

@ Omusala with all due respect as our SHEMEJI, i owe you some bottles if we can deliver the super8 cup worth 1Million, although ULINZI F.C is not a pushover as most of us might think.

Final matches are never predictable and anything can happen; if u can recall CHELSEA running away with UEFA championship by eliminating BARCA in semis and finally silencing BAYERN MUNICH at their very own ARENA STADIUM in munich during penalty shootouts. MPIRA NI KARATA omwami Omusala. Just imagine CHELSEA after absorbing 130 minutes of play inclusive of ROBBEN penalty miss ends UEFA champs.

The same scenario applies to KPL and FKF , but KPL is yours to loose at the moment especially now that TUSKER has fumbled to your advantage. FKF i assure you that LOGARUSIC can not gamble with it .Its our easiest way to play continental football next year.

By the way comrade Omusala is CHINGWE using the new MONSTER bus for the TZ trip or KIDERO amafungua wallet?

Your obsession and fanatic believe in INGWE makes me believe that with the remaining 9 KPL matches the LEOPARD will have its prey in the DEN only and only if you can beat CHEMO and MUHORONI away, because getting maximum points from ULINZI, GOR ,TUSKER and KCB will not be easy. HAPO NDIO K’OGALO TUTAPITA KATI-KATI YENU.

Being confident is good Jerim but over confident is disastrous. The after effects can be far reaching. Lets all keep our feet on the ground…

  • pls pls, no one is overconfident… that, in any sport is a disastor, but confidence is something else. means u not only know what u are doing but are sure of it… and that is not a bad thing. yaani u r following the instructions well. overconfidence is when you when you are confident but you assume the instructions and now decide to try somethng else in assumption that what you were doing before was slowing you down. the new way is basically untested and in many times is disastrous, but when executed leads to arrogance, but in the true sense ur simply postponding the disastor. i’m not lecturing but just my view…so why should i be confident gor will win… its coz they are executing the instructions well… but it does not mean they cannot loose the match. the reality is that it will be difficult to loose the match in the current form of confidence. i thnk alot of us are just confident and this is good.it’s very hard to loose when you are confident.just like seduction, one thing women look at and will like in a man is confidence, start wavering with a trembling voice and she quickly loses interest.
on the new UNIFORM i hope its the real tone of green, LEAGEA should not come with its own colors just coz it wants to dump unsold uniforms to gor. sincerly i have never liked legea coz of the way they dumped their boring shade of green at gor, but legea pls remember, gor is rising and ONE DAY u will realise that you really need gor.but all the same UNIFORM does not play football…it’s only this feeling i have that it’s gor supporting legea and not leagea supporting gor.GOR will beat ulinzi, ulinzi might beat gor but it will be 1 nil if this happens. gor will win 2 nil. gor is still far from being that lethal side, but at least we are now on the right direction, i pray that we can be in e and central nxt year, for the africa challenge i thnk we need to take two e and centrals first THEN…

Bill I can see at face value you meen well for Kogalo, but be assured the Kpl tittle is open for grabs, we are not fighting for 2nd position for obvious reasons.

  • Guys Ulinzi is a tough team and finals are usually unpredictable. It’s good for Jerry to be confident as that is how you put yourself ingood stead to win a battle. But overconfidence as @Eblazing Diva puts it can be dangerous. As fans let’s go to the match expecting any results but hope that all go ur way. After all it’s long since we ever lost a match and I believe it will not start this weekend. For our strikers all is good but let’s try to ‘hurl’ ourselves at those soft crosses that pass between us and the goal. Drogbas and the Rooneys score with any part of their bodies (apart from the hand). Otherwise all the best. On another note the Kasarani caretaker has complained of vanalism of their property especially seats. This is due to celebrations while standing on the seats. Though no names have been floated let’s protect our name. May we win over the weekend

@omusala..You are a true football fan and a true shemeji…..your comments are worth reading and very objective devoid of hate as would b expected of a rival fan. Its nice to hear you wishing us well on sunday against KDF,as for me i wish INGWE the best in their attempt to restore the traditional order of kenyan football, yaani GOR na INGWE are the face of kenyan soccer and the rest should be making up the numbers. All the best Omwami.

I believe that the match we played against sofapaka was the toughest and I tend to agree with Jery that we are in a better position to win our first silverware of the season. And for the shemejis, If you really want win any silverware this season, ensure that you dont loose three of the remaining kpl matches or you do not draw four of the remaining kpl matches because that is the only ware that you are in a better position to win.

Am impressed by the comments of our two shemejis who have become regular contributors on this site.It is a proof that bloggers on this site, who are mainly Kogalo fans, are very friendly and accomodative.Word of caution though;Do not overstep the boundary. You are our Shemejis and you deserve our respect.
Fast forward to Sunday game.I want Gor to win this match. But football has a penchant for shocks and surprises.Lets maintain peace even if we lose.Lets treat our foes with dignity when we win.Friends,Kogalo is being re branded thanks to the efforts of Kogalo family.Lets guard our brand and our movement jealously.

Sunday match will be a do-or-die and can go either way. Let us approach it with open minds as other bloggers have suggested let they become stubborn like we witnessed SOFAPAKA last week.
