K”ogalo coach Williamson reveals to Goal that midfielder Kevin Omondi and forward Timothy Wanyonyi will not be fit to face US Bitam of Gabon on Saturday

Gor Mahia will be without two key players for this weekend’s Champions League match against US Bitam of Gabon.

Influential midfielder Kevin ‘Ade’ Omondi and youthful forward Timothy Wanyonyi have both been ruled out of the match to be played at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson confirmed to Goal the latest development. “It is unfortunate that we will not have the two players after they picked up injuries. It is a big set-back for us but we have to do without them.”

Williamson has also expressed concern that his team has not been allowed to train at Nyayo Stadium where they will play their match on Saturday.

“We will play the match on grass but unfortunately we have been forced to train on astro-turf. The management at Nyayo Stadium insists the facility is not ready but as a home team we need to use it before the match. This is a big concern for us and we hope it can be resolved quickly.”

Its really unfortunate. It could have been worse had we engaged in unnecesary tournaments like our neighbours. Daddy i wish you a quick recovery.
Just read Kawowo sports and Walusimbi is adamant that the loss against Sofapaka should be a wakeup call to all the players. He thinks the team was not aggresive enough (my translation would be hungry to win). Asked who he thinks have impressed him he mentions four names; Calabar, Daddy, Teddy and Rama. I totally concur with him but my list would include also Blackberry.
My heart sings “We shall overcome, we shall overcome we shall overcome someday oooooh deep in my heart i still believe we shall overcome someday”.

Gor were whipped 3-1 because of inadequate preparations. Those of u who have played even a little village football know that retrieving the ball 3 times from one’s own net definitely demoralizes even the best of teams.
Injuries are an inevitable part of soccer (a contact sport) & can only be avoided if one sticks 2 the playstation version.
Our hope is that the team will play according 2 “instructions” rather than the “misguided” hope that Bitam r worse off then us coz Esperance won’t be!

…When a class 8 prepares for KCPE by doing class 1 exercises the results will always be obvious.
Let’s admit our beloved K’galo’s real preparations for 2014 started last Sunday, continue on Sunday & by the 5th game we’ll know whether what on paper/theory seems like a great team & coach actually are.
I wish the team all the best (hopes) against Bitam

Guys relax. Last year we started badly against the SeycheLles team, picked well during the retuen only to falter against the Egyptians. Then we had a good league run.
Everything will be sorted out by BW the only dark spot is the issue of sponsorship which even our new SG cannot update us on. Without info we will resort to romours with its negative consequences on both playing staff and fans

Maybe he had a point. GM should have been playing proper friendlies. And when we play the likes of Mumbi Nationale, GM should have buried them. Do you see how Sofapaka destroyed other teams in their friendlies ?

Im just hoping that players now know that they have to take things seriously.

@ Jack Omollo please let’s focus on the player’s at the den forget about the one’s who had moved. the technical bench had their reasons & we as fans have nothing to do but get behind the team and give them the support we can.

  • If gor wants a point, then they must employ the defensive 10-0-0 formation

From SOFAPAKA’S great goals into our net, we should be careful against AS BITAM. Our defence is not all that intact. But lets pray for a Saturday win.

@McMusingo I echo your sentiments but pliz note the definitions of den.
    1. A retreat / shelter for a wild animal e.g skunk, leopard etc
    2. A small squalid or wretched room.
Dube’s former club cannot therefore be referred to as a den.

Walusimbi says….gor Mahia lacks aggressiveness and responsibility! Hmmmmmm, not any different from what has been said by the coach and some of the bloggers.

He further mentions that gor has about 5 top quality players, which to me means he thinks just about 1/4 of gor Mahia current squad is world class.

Bloggers this is food for thought………2014 there is no title that is guaranteed , we have to sweat for everything.

our players do not move and think at the same time guess why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Was it tactical when it was reported that Sofapaka were in a go slow some three days prior to the game, food of thought?
the first 15 minutes in the game with sofapaka all was well until the players lost concentration.
the sofapaka strikers were allowed a lot of space to move around (were un marked.
