Financial Imperative becomes more urgent

Gor Mahia  is going to face stronger competition locally. Mathare United have signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with British insurance company Britam.

The deal is worth is worth Ksh 25 million per year for three years for a total of Ksh 75 million. Congratulations are due to Mathare.

However this means Gor Mahia will really need to press the accelerator on their efforts to shore up their financial situation lest the club starts losing players to Mathare.

Many of the club’s recent initiatives appear to have stalled. Recently the club started an initiative that would see loaves of bread branded with the Gor Mahia logo. Out of each loaf sold, Gor Mahia was to get 1 shilling.

“We have signed the deal and hope it can help us raise money to run the club in the coming months. The bread is already on sale and we urge our supporters to buy as many loaves as possible to increase what comes to our coffers.”

The deal was supposed to be signed on Monday and was the brainchild of former club CEO Omondi Aduda.

“I started the campaign to have the bread company come on board during my days as K’Ogalo CEO and I am happy that they have now reached an agreement and that the deal will be launched on Monday.” said Aduda to goal.com

Yet Monday came and went with no formal announcement or launch. The SACCO which was due to start in January has also stalled as have other initiatives.

Gor mahia needs any penny on offing, let as ignore people who want to make mileage with any sort of things yet its their duty to look for those assistant? we are our own enemy!!!!!!!! i think all Gor mahia executive officials should have balance scorecard inserted to their contracts when elected not opportunist. I know we’ve better people out there who can perform.

Someone is benefiting out of this situation.
Our weak financial base make it easy for player not to commit to long contract.

Could someone be in business here and waiting to sell players?

Anyway our maths is simple kshs 5000 from 2000 supporter per year to start with.

From what I gather is that Gor is still negotiating with prospective sponsors but as we all know our team has very many issues to consider e.g. we know our worth and hence should not just grab any chance of sponsorship even when we don’t benefit at all nor should we go into a contract with lots of conditions not conducive to us

It is going to be difficult to get a sponsor soon. So the club should not count on it. They should pursue other avenues for financing the club. They have been negottating with sponsors for over a year now. Yet a new company walks in and gives Mathare 75m. Thats a head shaker. Fans are indeed the club’s enemies.

  • Gor Mahia has its Patron by the name Right Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, what is he doing as Patron of the Club? Now Its almost 15 Months with Club without Sponshorship, if unknown Clubs like Mathare United can get an International Sponshorship. Its very amazing, somebody somewhere is sleeping on the JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
