Once more i dispute the option of playing Master as a fullback, from the look of things, all balls emerged from his wing and something needs to be done as concerns Nasio’s injury asap! once again Jerry’s calculations are very inaccurate and he needs to be benched and that chance given to either of the two keepers most preferably Mapunda. Just but a second thot!we also nid to deploy Juma in the centre of midfield along Teddy and see the outcome.

  • How did a player who was not among the 18 named until the last day get to the starting eleven in Maputo? A player we didn’t see against Breweries, Thika, City Stars, El Mereikh…If the said player had impressed in training how come he was included on the last day? If he had not impressed, how could he start in our most important match away when obviously his confidence levels must be down after warming the bench locally.

Coaches, is someone interfering with your work? Are you gambling?

  • Bloggers please read below an excerpt from Antony Lungaho’s article for the nation two days ago:

In the three seasons since TV broadcast rights and corporate sponsorships made the KPL truly competitive, the champions of Kenya have needed in the region of 60 points to clinch the title: 59 points by Sofapaka in 2009, 59 points by Ulinzi in 2010 and 58 points by Tusker last season.

It is safe to deduce that 60 points would win the league; incidentally, this is the same number of points available from the matches home and away against the 10 lowest ranked sides.

In effect, the derbies that fans are so passionate about between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, the brewing rivalry between Sofapaka and Tusker, the hard-fought battles on and off the pitch between Tusker and Ulinzi, all amount to little more than short-lived bragging rights.

Dropped points to lowly opposition are usually more readily forgotten by the fans, matches against perceived ‘weaker opposition’ attracting lower fan turnout and perhaps less initiative from complacent playing units, yet as Tusker FC and Ulinzi proved in 2011, the team that will solely concern itself with collecting as many ‘manageable’ points as possible will likely hoist aloft the KPL title this season.

Only Tusker FC and Ulinzi, either inadvertently or by design, seem to have figured out how league titles are won.

  • It’s ironical for us to tell the coach not to shift players from their normal position and then in the same paragraph recommend the same. I have seen Valencia playing right back in Man U and still registering points. I believe the coach was chosen because he is qualified. We also have his able assistant and we should let them do their work. At this rate before long the song will change that AA must go. Guys we have lots of injuries which will heal though I wish it was sooner than later. The time Lavatsa, Kevo, Midenyo, Hugo etc will all be fit to play then we will see all the difference we are wishing for. We must learn from our past to have a great future

yes JB, the funs were few in the stadium thats why Ferroviario scored only 3 goals. In Nairobi, with the stadium full, Ferroviario will show u its real value.
Let me tell u that Mozambique will face Namibia today in a friendly match. 9 (nine) players of the squad are from Ferroviario. Sorry my poor english but I thing u understood the essencial

    Spare us the agony please.

The earlier we forget the drabbing, the better. Nonetheless I must commend you for the effort to make us updated. I feel also concerned about our fans who continue to pile pressure on the technical bench. Hii ni mambo tulikubaliana muache. Ama?

We will be hosting Muhoroni Youth today evening the Nyayo national stadium under the floodlit. Although they are uunderdogs on the form book, nonetheless they are out to prove they merit to be in the premier league. I urge the players to give this match the seiousness it deserves.

May I take this early opportunity to condole with the family, friends and Kenya on the sudden demise of the Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, the late John Michuki at Agha Khan Hospital, Nairobi. The youth of this country has a lot to learn from the life of the late Minister both as a politician, businessman and civil servant .

May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace. Amen.

Let me pose this question: in the event that the technical bench go through this blog and field the players as we are suggesting and then it backfires badly and fails to work, will we be ready to take responsibility?

This clip has exposed the state of mental unpreparedness in our defense including the GK, judging from the way he was time and time again caught off position. These things happen.

Personally I will only point a finger at planning and preparation. The same preparation that has been well analysed by Anthony Lungaho @ Creative Village in post 3. If only we could give that article some serious thought! The way forward now is to play every match as if it is the last.

For the injuries: let us all through goodwill liaise with the EC on any input to their faster recovery. For instance KNH department of Physiotherapy is well placed and better equiped to manage those injuries that are beyond managing on the touchline. Most Physiotherapists running that department are attached to various athletics, rugby, volleyball etc teams in and around Nairobi and therefore familiar with the injuries that are crippling our players and put us in this mess.

In a game, prepare to win or to loose. This ia a wake up call and good because it has early. Let us correct our mistakes and move on. To hell with those who are thinking negatively about this loss.

We can beat them here more than they did at home. Guys, be positive and give the all the surport you can give.

All the best as this starts with Muhoroni today.

To be very honest, this clips only shows how goals were scored. How some of us conclude that central defence was the problem, leave a lot to be desired. I can only see problems in goal keeping. That is very clear on the clip. Otherwise big assignments ahead. Ingwe is our oponents in Super 8. Tusker match moved to Sunday and not monday as earler scheduled. Kazi kweli. With hard work, less pressure from fans, it can all be done. For God and my club Kogallo.

Let us give Awuono time to analyze the new squad, there is always time rem: Zambian coach molded the team for six years
after the plane crash and finally clinched CAF champs so patiency pays.

I am glad to see these videos. They are very educational. Based on these highlights, central defence was not the main problem although it was a problem. The full backs were completely missing. Too often a winger is left open to send a cross, thus causing havoc. Awono got this wrong or the players did not follow his instructions. While playing away from home, how can a team leave itself so exposed at the back.
Funny that a few weeks back, an article was posted saying that defence was a problem and that Awono better fix it or the team would soak 3 goals in Maputo. Pareyio et al said the article was uninspiring. Instead they should have called the article prophetic 🙂 Defence was not fixed and the team indeed soaked 3 goals.

  • Pls bloggers, we must concern ourselves with the tactical and technical analysis of the team’s performances. This is our right and we shall exercise it in totality. For this is the only way we can appraise the work of the coach. Having reviewed the video on how the goals were conceded, here are my observations:

    GOAL NO1.
The left back was caught out of position by one straight ball over the top after he had been drawn to the ball. He was supposed to have been marking his man but he was marking the space instead. If he had over-lapped then the left-sided central defender was supposed to cover him. Totally wrong tactic for a full- back to use. A full-back must never turn his back on a winger/opponent. This is what Juma did as he was nowhere near his man when the opponent received the pass. You can see how easy it is for the winger to deliver the cross to into the box. Juma is supposed to be covering and standing in front of his man but he is nowhere and so is the Gor Mahia covering winger and defender. Sacreligious, as wing-backs duty no1 is to make sure that the opponent never ever reach anywhere near the top of the box, let alone to deliver across into your box. All of us watch EPL, SERIE-A or even LA LIGA and must be conversant with defending tactics. Pls watch how tight wing-backs mark the wingers/ opponents as they never allow them to cut inside. At corners they use either the space / zonal marking or man-marking. Our central defenders were so slow to react to the low- ball delivered into the box. Reason: Poor anticipation, co-ordination and reaction as they did not know who was to cut-off that ball delivered to the box. We must admit that Masika was superb at cutting off such balls because of his anticipation, speed and reaction. You can see how easily the striker peels off from ball-watching pair of Anguyo and M.Mohammed to score the first goal.

SOLUTION-: Our central defenders MUST realize that there are times to mark space and times to tightly mark your man. If they were tight on the goal-scorer, he would not have scored that goal. We need a stopper who is very quick in take-off, thought, action and reaction. All our defenders MUST be taught that their no1. responsibility is to defend and not to attack or ball-watch. They MUST be made aware that the tighter you are on your man, the easier it is to defend your line. Wing-backs MUST always try and shepherd the opponents towards the corner-post or the byline. They MUST never allow them to cut inside, to shoot or even to give a cross.

    Goal no2 and no3.
These two goals were scored in similar circumstances. They were scored because of judgement error by the goal-keeper and the inactivity (ball-watching) of both the central mid-fielders and central defenders. The goal-scorer was for instance given a free-run at the mid-fields and defenders after collecting the miss-pass by Moses Otieno. Where was Gattuso or even Abondo to track him? After beating the first mid-fielder, you can see that the other mid-fielders around him kind of stood back and watched him advance. The defenders failed to take charge by closing him down so quickly. The hesitation on the defenders part allowed him to take aim at our goal. Once he miss-aligned the mid-fielders (kuchenga), the stopper was supposed to take charge of the situation. Instead they backtracked and allowed him enough space to drift from the wing to the center and to take aim and shoot. How on earth could a defender allow a striker to take a clear shot at goal! Jerry on his part came out too early to narrow the space because his defenders just stood by. Hence the goals were so cheaply conceded. If these mistakes can be sorted out and be avoided in future matches, the team has the potential to go further in the competition.

    CONCLUSION
Our defenders MUST be made aware that the first duty of a defender is to DEFEND. They MUST never be caught ball-watching. They MUST know that effective defending requires the use of all skills including, pushing, shoving, pulling and even diving into an opponent. These must be done with skills and in controlled way so as not to arouse the wrath of the referees. SO the Goals so conceded, would have been avoided if our mid-fielders and defenders applied the SIMPLE rules of-

1.NEVER ALLOW YOUR OPPONENT A CLEAR RUN AT GOAL
2.NEVER ALLOW YOUR OPPONENT A CLEAR SHOT AT GOAL.
3.NEVER ALLOW YOUR OPPONENT TO CROSS THE BALL INTO YOUR BOX (D) IF YOU ARE A FULL-BACK.

Pls Let us rate our players and the technical bench together for better results. Go go go go GOR MAHIA.

i completely concur with le pastre above, the goals came purely as a result of misjudgement & miscalculations by generally the defence line. the technical team must work on this as a matter of priority

Le Pastre I concur with your analysis. I am appalled that we were playing an away game yet the defence was so pedestrian. They must have scouted our games and saw the defensive weaknesses.
Also I have been saying all along to bloggers that assigning blame to 1 or 2 players is wrong. The entire team played poorly especially defence and defensive midfielders.

I knew it , I knew it , I knew it………….The score should have been much worse. gor mahia players are overrated. the new signings do not have the basics in football. we are paying the price for the pre season panic buying. truth be told…..gor mahia did not need all the players they acquired

LE PASTRE, I f indeed there’s one who watched the two clips carefully like i did, then its u. i said had our goalkeeper been serious, the last 2 goals would have not been there. Jerry did some miscalculations. There is no way u can narrow the opponent’s angle past the 6th yard box! Its high time our players learn the obvious tactics of defending whenever we lose ball possession. defense stars with strikers immediately they lose touch of the ball, then midfielders, the defenders and lastly the goalkeeper. I think its high time the tech bench practice something about “TRIANGLE DEFENSE” I feel there is too much laxity when we are being attacked and you could see the way balls were flowing especially in the fullbacks. we wish Nasio a quick recovery as he is really missed at the right back. Can we please try the partnership of Musa and Owino in central defense or maybe Musa and Teddy as they really partnered very well towards last season’s end.
    KOGALO MAYIENGA TILL I DIE!
