Kiongera scored yet another top shelf goal

Rama Salim and Paul Mungai Kiongera scored in the first half of the match to give Scot coach Bobby Williamson a clean record since joining club

Gor Mahia remained on course to winning the premiership title when they opened up a four point gap at the top of the table with a comfortable 2-0 win over Western Stima at the City Stadium on Sunday.

Rama Salim and Mungai Kiongera scored in the first half of the match to give Bobby Williamson a clean record since joining K’Ogalo.

The home side started the match faster off the blocks and they attacked from the first whistle. Sticking to a 4-3-3 formation that destroyed Chemelil in mid-week, Gor looked set for an attacking game. And their efforts paid dividends seven minutes gone on the clock, Rama Salim netting from a free-kick.

Stima had conceded an indirect free-kick just at the edge of the box, and Rama who never disappoints on set pieces chose to bang the ball home. Edwin Lavatsa touched the ball for him as the former Congo United striker struck a low shot into the bottom right corner.

The goal put Gor firmly into the match as they gained confidence passing the ball around sweetly. In the 20th minute, Gor almost doubled the advantage but captain George Wesa had to be at full stretch to cut out an inviting cross from Innocent Mutiso.

Stima tightened their defense and they limited Gor to just above the 18-yard area. The power men pressed upfront but were never lucky to get even a shot on target.

Their efforts to land an equalizer came tumbling down like a pack of cards in the 34th minute, Benroberts Mandela’s blunder gifting Mungai Kiongera who notched his third goal of the season. Mandela had left his line and Kiongera was left with the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net just from the 18 yard area.

Immediately, Kiongera almost doubled his tally but his shot was saved off for a corner by Mandela though it took a slight deflection on Rama Salim.

But Francis Baraza’s men would come off fighting in the second period, Baraza introducing Dennis Onkangi for Abbey Natty as Mike Simiyu came off for Daniel Onyango. This was purely an attacking strategy and it paid dividends with Stima more industrious upfront.

However, they failed to test Jerim Onyango, who was well shielded by a no nonsense defense led by Donald Mosoti and Israel Emuge. Rama Salim almost pulled his second of the afternoon but his header from Innocent Mutiso’s freek-ick went wide.

Dennis Onkangi twice tested Jerim Onyango with long range shots but the Harambee Stars custodian kept his cool to maintain a clean sheet.

The introduction of Kelvin Omondi brought back to life Gor Mahia’s attack but they really never threatened much in front of goal. The win was the second for Scot coach Bobby Williamson since taking over reigns of coaching side. His first was a 2-0 win against Chemelil Sugar.

I just wanted all to know that we the players are doing all we can to capture the title. However, all is far from well at the camp and I’m afraid all this effort we have put in might go to waste. It is sad to note that our bonus continues to go unpaid when we win. When we get injured, some of us have no choice but to go to Kenyata National Hospital where treatment is poor and medicine from the pharmacy at the hospital is sometimes wrapped in old newspaper or old typed up report paper. Our pay is given to us in envelops and I suspect that some of the players such as Jerry, Sere, Rama and Kiongera are given a slightly fat envelop (above what their contracts calls for) so that they can neutralise the other players (have you noticed how often the four of these guys have been in press lately?). To simply put it, they have been bought by management. I understand that the Tax office is investigating Gor as to why they are paying players through envelops which leads to the goverment loosing on taxes. I also understand that the immigration is investigating Gor with Regards to Loga working in Kenya on a tourist visa.

    Pray for us

I’m a Gor player. Our bonuses dont get paid in time, Some of us have to settle for mediocre treatment at Kenyatta Hospital when we get injured. Some of the players are getting extra cash from management so that they can keep the rest of us quiet. I also understand that the Govt is investigating why we are being paid through a bahasha (They are looking for their Tax Money. I also understand that immigration is investigating whether or not Loga worked in Kenya on a tourist visa. If he did, then we are in BIG trouble. This Management Team is really Jua Kali.

I just wanted to share with our fans on what is going on at camp

  • Well done, I must say these are exiciting times and I only pray that the “executive community” has budgetted for the winning bonuses to be paid promptly.
Hope the unconfirmed report from Muthurwa are not true, if it is then the murderer MUST BE ARRESTED, EC follow it up.
FINALLY LET THE EC ANNOUNCE THE ELECTION DATE AND RULES AND NOT USE THESE AS A SECRET WEAPON.

First congratulations to the team for doing well and sitting at the top of the log for the second week, the difficult thing is to stay there all the way.

Second, on the so called Gor player, these allegations could be true; we have heard of it in the past and which can be very unfortunate; EC should throw some light on this matter to address our anxiety; but again they may not be true which may mean a trick to destabilize Kogalo ship now steadily sailing ashore. Lets focus on the prize and not be distracted by any sideshows but only after a clear statement by EC.

  • @Gor player its really in bad taste for you to come here and tell us such unsubstantiated information especially at this point in time when we the team is playing well and at the top of the table. The more reason i dont trust you is because elections are around the corner and you seem bitter the team is doing well and may dent your masters election strategies.
You are not a Gor mahia player period rather an imposter on this blog and if you really are please use another forum which is through the captain or team manager.
On yesterdays game i’am thrilled by the performance but disappointed by the ticketing arrangement. Secondly our midfield is still wanting and am sorry to mention this but forgive me, Erick is way below Gor mahia’s stature way below and i see no reason why he has relegated Akumu, Odhiambo or Daddy or Gathu to the benches. Please make me understand. We need to score while maintaining possesion footballbut i believe the coach is upto the task.

  • Thank you players for this great revelation. This is why we have to get rid of good for nothing officials such as kilo, bwana, Oj, etc. it is very sad for the happenings at the club and we fans should blame ourselves for the rot in the club. All officials are busy with gate collections but not the welfare of the club.

Chairman wke up or else you also perish with your inept officials. It is very sad on the happenings. Why are bonuses not paid on time? Who is taking the money? This is unacceptable mr Rachier.

At this stage where the team is geared towards winning the league, any distractions are unacceptable and the executive committee should note that winning bonuses are entitlements to players. The agreement must be executed without any fear or contradiction.

Congrats boys. Great goals scored yesterday, keep up the tempo. In the 2nd half you went to sleep when we expected more goals and that was quite disappointing. I thought for once we were headed to a 4 nil result at the least. I saw the coach too was not amused. You must desist from this lazy attitude when in the lead, we saw it against Karuturi and against 10-man Bandari. We need to create a fear factor in our rivals, 18 years of waiting does not befit a glamour club like Kogalo. We also need to create day light between us and the number 2 club both in goal difference and points.
For impostors like ‘Gor Player’ above, please take ur silly mind to another forum.

  • Congrats boys. Great result.

Those still questioning the team must know that now we are unlocking previously stubborn teams and getting goals. Our goal difference currently is second best.

Keep it up boys. For Gor player, pole sana but i don’t believe you. Use the right channels. No one on this blog employed you.

  • This nicompoop is not a Gor player.. i will not waste time responding to him…!!!

Otherwise congrats great players, coach and TB for giving us another win… we thank God for that.

On the Muthurwa incident a lady fan was stabbed fatally.. i am a peace loving Gor follower and i have never caused any violence but i must say i am greatly concerned about these attacks… I think enough is enough!! Next game lets meet these baggers face to face and show them why they need not attack GOr family… if we let this go unanswered like b4, then it will no longer be safe to wear our jersey in Luo hated areas!!!!!! Lots of congrats boys you made us happier, collect every available remaining point so that you cement our position there. If you can manage to win the tittle with a couple of games in hand it would very classic.

The hell @1 and 3 is a campaign agent of one of the aspirants who ison a mission to rock the boat while on the high seas please ignore him. What can be safe for the team and the fans this time that leading the pack to the finishing line is to postpone the election until and after the season ends.

The Muthurwa incident should now be properly and fairly investigated. why should a sports fan die or be injured by panga cuts. The two previous cases were reported to the police, why has the police been too hesitant to take precautionary action. Does one have to bleed for being a Gor fan.

The game was basically good apart from the second half. We need to put the fera factor in the minnows as someone has put it. The thing is that the league will be won by beating the monnows and ensuring we don’t lose to the big 5. Remember last season we beat all the big teams but lost it due to our inability of beating the minnows.
On Eric and Vierra, I think Vierra deserves the rest, the boy has played so many games and i’m sure when he comes back he will have all his batteries recharged, and this also applies to Danny.
On Gor players being paid by the envelop I have heard this before but it was from Awilo and one of the Chairmanship contendrs on Radio Jambo. I believe the current EC have to respond to this even as we dismiss it. It could be one one of the many sideshows we have. Who goes to KNH nowadays unless it’s a life-threatening disease or injury when the local dispensaries in the estate can suffice?
On the Muthura incident the best thing for us as Gor is to avoid this exposure to injury. How do you as a fan who is armed with a whistle confront a ‘thug’ who has no purpose for life? Those advocating for an all-out war how will you fight guys who are always fighting police and council askaris and involved in shoot-outs? We need to find how we can protect our divas and children from this. Let them use the industrial area and the railway-polytechnic flyover if just for the sake of peace and us enjoying the game.

  • The posting on players complaints seems to have come from Benson Disi….this will not distract our intend of winning KPL. Please AFC fans mind about your team and stop this campaign which will end up to make us more stronger than before.

Fans, the language flow sounds like Disi’s posting and this is the reason why his fellow EFFUSI @Ingo of posting 6 had to make his comment very early in the morning.

That supposed GOR PLAYER is a lowlife, idle attention seeker who knows nothing about football….need i go on wasting my time with this useless fellow??

Away from such useless matters…..Yesterdays game in my opinion was hard and both teams gave a good account of themselves. However,we lost some steam in the 2nd half.I hope this was duly noted by the TB and that they will work on it before the next game

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Congratulations to the boys the TB,the EC for a job well done, thank you,we are on the right path and from yesterday I could see the team has some renewed confidence. As for that ‘player,’….what I can read is propaganda from our Good shemeji, all in all if at all there’s some truth to it then that is serious and must looked into.As for the killed fan,we must know that haters are so many out there and most of it is political, avoid those strongholds coz the Police will do nothing, it’s in their best interest to do nothing but we also must take great care about our own security and humble ourselves against adversity. RIP green soul, soldier.

  • I agree the incident of Muthurwa should have not happened. To be fair, some of our fans also misbehave during our games. We should 1st try to correct our side by educating such fans and later try to talk to those guys of Muthurwa because some of them might be also GM supporters.I so one fan in Mombasa in GM attire with the words “RAILA IS MY PRESIDENT”this should not be tolerated.Such fans should not be allowed in stadiums. When we meet as GM fans we believe we are from different backgrounds:religiously,Politically and ethnically.Let`s GM be a good example to be followed by others and not be hated.

Responding to what the purpoted gor player is saying let him not open something that he will not want to undergo, why mention the name of other players in yor post.you may think that you are doing yourself justice but in the long run you may end up loosing.

I believe that we are on the right path as a team and pray that the leading gap widens.

@20 Okew Okuyu Jakamolloand @21 Omoke i support your comments on the Muthurwa incident .I’m yet to believe the loss of life, Remember when we played Thika last year and the press actually ‘killed’ some kids on a bus on Jogoo road only for the issue to be non-existent but there was no apology to GM fraternity or a political personality who was being held accountable for it. All the same some of our fans are also guilty of causing some of these mayhem. Why do we tolerate and enjoy non-football songs and dirges? Do we expect the target of some of those songs to smile back at the singers? Alcohol and bang which some fans imbibe aad then come to the stadium impairs their judgment and reasoning yet we expect to be safe and enjoy the stadium aura.
As someone said let’s avoid those strongholds which put our safety in jeopardy as Gor fans. We lose nothing by being branded cowards but enjoy supporting our team. Whoever is advocating for war like @12 @Kibalka please spare us that as a Gor family. We ‘fight’ in the field for three points, wins and trophies and not outside it.
Pole to Odengos family and RIP

  • @Dan we ‘fight’ in the field for 3 points… but again killed outside by hawkers?????
I never advocate for war, but thugs have now made it a habit of attacking us.. now they even kill.. I dont agree with your ‘accept and move on’ idealogy remember this is human life we are talking about, that poor diva is no more… how many more of us will be killed in future matches???? It could be you and me next..

I dont advocate for political songs, drunkardness etc etc… but none of that makes one deserve to die

  • I agree with DAN ORIGINAL 1OO% on Muthurwa,me i still believe the provocation is usually done by the rowdy fans who passes their immediately after the game, only for the innocent souls who usually come later not knowing what had happened to face the wrath of the angry traders,i have always asked myself why is it that we are only attacked after matches but not before yet we use the same road while going to the stadium. My advice is can we stick to football and protect the brand GOR MAHIA from hooligans and war mongers.
