Gor Mahia accuse Kaizer Chiefs of tapping Walusimbi

After losing Meddie Kagere to Simba, Gor Mahia now appear on the verge of losing Godfrey Walusimbi.

Gor Mahia have vowed to take action against defender Godfrey Walusimbi for absconding duty.

This comes hours after Goal reported that the Ugandan left back has already held talks with South African club Kaizer Chiefs and that the transfer could be made official after the two clubs agree on terms.

Walusimbi was conspicuously missing from Gor Mahia’s squad that did duty against Posta Rangers in a 2-1 league win at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. The absence has fueled the players’ intentions to quit the Kenyan champions.

A top Gor Mahia official has now told Goal that the club will take action against the player and also report Kaizer Chiefs to Fifa for player tapping.

“If indeed Walusimbi is in South Africa negotiating with Kaizer Chiefs, we will have to take disciplinary action for absconding duty. He has a one and half year contract with us and must respect the same. We will also report Kaizer Chiefs to Fifa for player tapping.

“Walusimbi featured for us on Tuesday in Mombasa but I was shocked that he was not in Kisumu for the Posta Rangers match. Nobody knows where he ‘Walu’ is…not even our coach Dylan Kerr.

“We don’t want destructions now that we have a congested fixtures. We will not allow clubs from outside to derail our progress.”

Chiefs are said to have picked on the impressive Walusimbi to help strengthen their leaking defence. Walusimbi has been a key player for Gor Mahia especially this campaign, where K’Ogalo are taking part in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Walu must bear the consequence of disrespecting the club that has been his employer for six years. He is free to follow his heart wherever it takes him but he must use the right path. Gor is not short of left backs but Kaizer must pay handsomely to get walu’s signature. Maybe he is a good riddance of a bad garbage as was the case with kagere.

  • Yes…walusimbi will be unveiled this coming Thursday to Kaiser chief fans.

EC to have an impromptu meeting on Monday to attempt to trash the offer which includes buying out walusimbi out of his remaining months at kogallo. Walusimbi through his agents insisits he is ready to buy himself out of the contract . Interesting times….

    Will keep you posted .

@Jakoyo, according to FIFA rules, a player can only buy contract if he has less than 12 months. Anything more than 12 month, the bidding (buying) club must sit down and negotiate with the selling club. Kaiser and any other buying team must sit down with Gor Mahia for them to secure the signature of walusimbi.

This is a good opportunity to make money by recovering sign on fees Gor Mahia had paid walusimbi as well as the contract. There are no free transfers and Gor must play hard to get a good value.

No one is against walusimbi joining any club but let the right procedures be followed by Kaiser Chiefs.

Wrong timing and approach I agree, nevertheless Odhis Muga choice of words, my friend choose your words carefully they don’t become garbage just because they are leaving. Let’s deal with the culprit, the tapper in the name of Kaiser Chiefs, FIFA rules must be very clear

Gor Mahia should play hard ball in this matter. Kaizer CHiefs have boxed themselves into a corner and a shrewd business mind would really make a kill here. How I wish that our EC have such shrewd businessmen and women. The mistake we should not do is to hang onto Walusimbi. We do that and we come out empty-handed. What I know is K’Ogalo will not collapse and die simply because Wlusimbi has left.

  • If Walusimbi must leave, and he should , he must leave on our terms because these madharau ndogo ndogo must not be tolerated .
I hope nobody here brings here matters of the heart ati we should understand the desire to go for greener pastures , kwani we in kogalo are not entitled to retain our best players and build our own green pastures .
This kind of indiscipline and disrespect from both Walusimbi and K.Chiefs must not go unpunished , for allowing it to just pass will only go to encourage and incite the remaining players that Gor is a rubbish pit that u can do at as you please .
Let him go , because he will go anyway , but let them pay heavily .
We have very demanding assignments just around the corner and then this nonsensical distraction- We must not be treated as if we are desperate destitutes , Gor is a Team kubwa with a pedigree that k.Chiefs can only dream about .

  • I think his heart is elsewhere if he had to sneak out like that. Gor has lost heavyweights before and survived. Let the club just make sure we get a good amount. When Sofapaka sold Fiston down South they got rewarded quite handsomely and I hope we will not be told that Kaizer Chiefs paid 4 million Kes for Walusimbi

You are right musymo..sofapaka sold fiston for 24m.

It therefore follows that Gor should pocket a handsome amount as walu is a full Uganda international and seasoned campaigner who is still under contract with Gor.

But what he has done is exactly what kagere did.even if you are pursuing greener pastures, procedure must be followed.

  • Why the panic buttons!! Walusimbi has not cleared out his contract so there is nothing KC can do. But here is why Gor fans have to worry.
    1. Why would a professional club that has had such success acquire a player illegally. KC knows very well that in ‘Fifania’ you cannot steal. If it happned this is why.
A.) Why is Walusimbi bolting as if he saw a snake?
Just like Kagere when Gor had the chance to pay his dues, he was treated with contempt. Didn’t someone say he can go? Walusimbi was clearly shown disrespect from none other than the Chair himself. So just like Kagere when a suitor came, he bolted without thinking twice. When Simba acted I praised them for one thing, they knew when to strike. KC are no different. Gor Mahia has treated it’s players badly. How many of these players are happy as we speak? The club even had the audacity of grouping some of it’s players as the disloyal non-Luo players.
B.) If KC is going to unveil Walusimbi on thursday then it only means one thing…someone in Gor already has the money in his pockets. We saw it happen with Tirana. The crying wolf part is only to appease the fans.
Lesson: Be careful how you treat your players. Once the players realised they were targeted by the EC simply coz they asked for their dues, one sad thing happened, loyalty flew out the window. Question of Gor making money out of them grew slim. So? Hit back!!! How else to do it. If you want players go where they seem to be unhappy. To be honest you do not have to even go there, the players themselves will simply instruct their agents to get them out.
    2. We all have assumed that Walusimbi was paid all his dues after signing the contract with Gor. Was the contract airtight? Airtight here reads like this, did Gor Mahia fulfill all parts of it’s obligations. If no then this guy has gone.
So the nxt time the club chief Executive wants to spread lies on his own players….think twice.
But as I started, why the panic, Walusimbi still has over one year of his contract.
    He’ll be back….I hope.

Your comments are largely speculative though I agree with you on one or two issues.
      1. Walusimbi has a running contract with GM, if he must leave KC has no option but to buy out his contract.
      2. The EC is economic with the truth, on this I agree with you. For the Chair to say somebody, KC’s chair called him to discuss Walu’s possible move to KC speaks volumes. What the chair has so far said is half the story. The possibilty here is a deal will soon be reached and Walu will be gone. EC will not say how much the amount involved in the deal. It is speculative to assert that money is already somebody’s pocket. If KC is proffessional as you say, then I believe they will be honest enough to say how much they paid to acquire the services of Walu.
      3. Many players joining GM from other clubs have resorted to signing very short contracts with club, some kind of arm twisting game. They come to GM, get the exposure then you see every one going for them. These short contracts put the EC in very awkward position when it comes to contract renewals. The players’ agents in the meantime will be hanging around like vultures waiting to make a kill. We have many cases where the so called agents have misled players into leaving GM and signing some contracts with dubious foreign clubs. The allure for big money is so tempting; and our players never learn. One con-club called Tirana has ruined the future of very promising players. Need I list the the players? We know them.
      4. It is a fact that the EC is never transparent on their dealings with players, but a blanket condemnation is not fair without zeroing on specifics. Let us give them their dues. I feel really disheartned when people write some very unkind words against the Chairman, yes he is not an angel but I do not know where GM would be today without his efforts.
I remember some years back during the AGM when the then Chair Leslie Okudo proposed to make GM a limited company, he was almost linched, one re-knowned fan told him to go and form his own club and make it a limited company. The idea to professionalize GM died then and it was killed by members/fans.
The beauty here in GM is that kila mtu ni mjuaji, that has kept GM going.
Let Walu go but, neither party should make it “noisy and messy”.

  • In Professional football or indeed in any professional entity , entities without the financial might will always lose players to the well endowed clubs/organisations .
On this, it is not a matter whether their ECs treat them well or not , Ajax loses players , Borussia Dortmund loses players , Barcelona lost Neymar to PSG , just like Liverpool lost Coutinho to Barcelona etc etc , they lost not because of the EC but due to the dynamics involved , but the point here is that things must be done professionally and in the case of Gor Mahia , we must not use the Kagere case as an example when we are discussing Walusimbi’s issue , Kagere was out of contract and hence had the personal option of renewing or otherwise and he chose the latter , Walusimbi has a running legally binding
Contract and as such he has no business, happy with the EC or not , to do what he has just done .
I have a lot of issues with this EC but on this , I will not let my reservations of them blur me to an action of a player , that is clearly wrong and unprofessional, but that being the case , it is my take that the EC comes down hard on both him and KC , even if they will eventually let him go .
Our club is bigger than any individual , be it the EC or the Players and respect to it is non negotiable .

      • @Sylvester , you have very eloquently enumerated what constitutes a legally binding

      • If we have a contract that I am to supply you with mangoes in two months time and I fail to do so then you can cancel the contract n there is nothing I can do about it.
Did Gor honour its contract with Walusimbi? If Walusimbi has walked then it only means one thing, KC saw this, walked in n grabbed what they wanted. So KC has done nothing wrong. It’s the juakali style of handling biz matters that is at fault. Example Gor promised to pay Walusimbi signing fee…what does the rest of the contract say? I respect the biz accumen at KC than what is at Gor. If Walusimbi has gone then they saw all the loophalls and acted. What Chair n his team can do is cry wolf but unfortunately that is all they will do.

Lets not be quick to demonise kagere and more recently walusimbi.

The reality of kenyan football is that CLUB officials would informally demand for a bribe /commission before releasing a player or allowing a player to talk to another club…agents and other clubs have discovered this therefore to avoid paying hefty bribes they have discovered a ‘panya route ‘ of either talk directly to the agent who can sneak the player our of the club or phone tap a player personally , pay him some money so that he can pay himself of the contract and declare himself a ‘free agent’.

As we speak there is case that was taken to FIFA of a well known Efusi agent acting for a uganda club, who was paid commission before releasing player only for the player to be snapped up by another Kenyan club. This is the reality of modern football, so you take it to FIFA, they will just look at the case and laugh off………….This is Africa brothers, only the smartest will clubs survive !

Sad news and untoward behavior from Kaizer Chiefs for engaging a contracted player personally without following due process of presenting their formal interest to the club first. Secondly Walu my friend am disappointed you chose to sneak out to the chagrin of your team mates currently disturbed by your absence without a care. Finally we are in Caf crucial stages and losing a vital cog like Walusimbi will be hard felt as his understudy in that position that has been very core to GM sucess from Abouba Sibomana to Eric Marcelo will he hard to replace with transfer window closed. Am not happy at all by this news but i leave it to EC to make the best decision in the overall interest of the club….

Gor Mahia rubbishes Rachier involvement in Godfrey Walusimbi’s ‘sale’ to Kaizer Chiefs
    Elvince Joshua
    Goal Kenya.

Walusimbi was named in the Matchday squad to face Rangers but he was conspicuously missing

?Gor Mahia have denied allegations that club chairman Ambrose Rachier has benefited financially from the impending move of Godfrey Walusimbi to South Africa.

The Ugandan defender reportedly sneaked to South Africa to begin personal negotiations with Kaizer Chiefs even though he still has a one and half year contract to run with the Kenyan champions.

But a section of club fans took to social media to accuse Rachier of sanctioning the move, a position that the club has since denied.

“It is my hope that this statement exonerates our Chairman’s names and that of the CEO (Omondi Aduda) from un-profound allegations of having pocketed Sh 20 million from Walusimbi’s transfer,” Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi said in a statement seen by Goal .

Walusimbi journey down south was so secretive that even Coach Dylan Kerr was surprised to learn that the player was not in the country.

“As a matter of fact, the coach planned our last match against Posta Rangers with his name in the lineup, but he was conspicuous (conspicuously) missing at the time of the match.

“So far the clubs chairman has received unsolicited phones calls and text messages from Kaizer Chief seeking apologies and at the same time requesting to dialogue regarding Walusimbi’s possible move and further for the club to approve the deal.

“This is very unprofessional, disrespectful and can only amount to tapping of a player. The chairman has since declined to discuss anything till an Executive Committee Meeting is held to agree on the approriate course of action.

  • There is no way on earth KC can walk into Gor and simply pick a player with a contract and go. These are the people with answers.
    1. Walusimbi read his agent. What did he promise Walusimbi. Did he promise he could buy him out.
    2. Walusimbi’s contract. Has KC taken advantage of a loophole.
    3. Gor EC read Chairman. Could he have already accepted a deal. Please note that crying wolf is an art in Kenya. This is why we accept that NYS money simply flew away from their coffers and that Brazilian sugar ships itself to Kenya.
If on the other hand none of the above is true then I do not think Walusimb nor KC are daft enough to sign anything. The guy will simply come back. But should KC announce a deal with Walusimbi then refer back to the 3 above.
