Gor Mahia appoint Raymond Oruo as CEO

According to a press release signed by new Secretary General Sam Ocholla, a person by the name of Raymind Oruo has been appointed as Gor Mahia’s new Sports Management Consultant, Marketing Consultant and Acting Chief Executive Officer.

“Raymond brings a lot of sports management experience to our club having done the same in other areas including holding the position of Sports Manager at KCB bank. He will be the head of the club’s secretariat and will work under the supervision of the club’s secretary-general.

“The club’s executive and the entire Gor Mahia FC fraternity wish Raymond Oruo the best in this challenging and exciting position in our club,” reads a letter dated September 30 (Thursday) and signed by the secretary-general Sam Ochola.

Oruo replaces former CEO Lordvick Omondi Aduda who resigned to vie for the FKF Chairmanship.

Past Experience.

Oruo is not new to Kenya Sports. In 2003 he was employed by the Kenya Rugby Football Union (KRFU). According to the Kahawatungu blog, he was forced to resign after NOCK gave KRFU kit and Oruo sold them. Below is an areticle from the Daily Nation from 2003.

The Kahawatungu blog also claims that Oruo was fired from Coca Cola for similar reasons:

At Coca-cola, he got a contract to market the Copa Coca-Cola tournament through the back door, assisted by one Mona Karingi for alleged bribes and kickbacks. The two had to mud-sling the predecessor in order for him to get the opportunity.

Oruo was then an employee of Pacific Sports Ltd (PSL) the company contracted to work for Coca-Cola. It is said that Coca-Cola officials were able to dig and learn of his dirty past, the reason his contract was short-lived.

This is the best candidate they could find?

Of course not, looks more like a wheeler dealer and woe onto our wet nosed treasurer.
A good candidate is our Legend Tobias “Jua Kali” Ochola but “some” may find his no -nonsense, straight talking character too much.

Let me get this off my chest.
You can never grow revenues, plan strategically blah, blah with a mediocre team that wins only the league year in, year out.
Start doing well in the continental tournaments, win the CECAFA, add the Shield to League title at the very least then you see the fan base grow with the corresponding increase in match attendance, merchandise sales first locally, next regionally and then continentally.
Do well footballwise and the rest will follow.

Carol Radull is over qualified. Only if we intended to do things the right way. Looks like we will only do things as usual.

One time my boss who was of Asian origin silenced me mute when he retorted at me, ” Who in Kenya is not corrupt, tell me, who is not touched with corruption? Even the churches who we consider holy are shrouded in corruption.”
    So let Oruo work.
