Gor Mahia arrive in Tanzania

The Gor Mahia contingent arrived in Tanzania for the 2018 CECAFA club cup. Included in the squad is newly signed Burundian striker, Francis Mustafa. However trouble started brewing when Kogalo were booked in a sub par hotel. Coach Dylan Kerr and the players expressed reservations about the hotel.

“It is true, the players are unhappy with the hotel and we are trying to find an alternative. Basically the players want a hotel with facilities and amenities such as a swimming pool.” said team manager Jolawi Obondo according to Citizen FM.

CECAFA chair Nicholas Musonye said he was working on resolving the issue.

“The issue has been brought to my attention and we are sorting it out” said Musonye.

Gor Mahia are in Tanzania in an attempt to win a trophy that they last won 33 years ago. Coach Dylan Kerr is wary about the glut of fixtures.

“We have the worst July of football coming up with tight fixtures. I want my players to go for it and show just how much in one year, we have grown, matured and developed into a strong unit.” said Kerr to goal.com

However Kerr is optimistic that his side will overcome all opposition.

“If we can focus on football and let our talents show it, it would be amazing for Kenya.” he concluded.

Gor Mahia are up against Azam who beat them in the finals in 2015 and Simba who recently snatched Meddie Kagere and also signed players from Cote’d Ivoire.

  • Coach Kerr keep a hawk eye out for Simba SC officials out there hell bent on luring our very best through informal channels of money handshakes. They tabled a 10M bid for Kahata which was rejected outright but still they persist.Kerr said he wont hear less than 100M to release Katchi to which i gladly say hapo sawa coach kaa ngumu. Also Tanzanian women who will be lurking outside your hotel rooms are better left hanging or ignored don’t indulge in their trade as they are dangerous,we need you 100% our beloved players…

  • Kwani there was no advance party (officials) to check on things like accomodation, etc before the team arrived

@ Hamito, the match organizers are CECAFA not Gor.

The team that wins the tournament will be king of the region in football matters and whoever thinks that Gor mahia should not stamp their authority to instill fear on any team in this region is not a Gor mahia fan. It’s high time Gor mahia fc to reclaim his rightful place of being the team that other teams cry for in fear.we need that cup to be with the team as a sign of being the best in the region.

So far it is only Azam TV that airs the matches unless other media houses are roped in.My hope and prayer is that Gor beats Simba sc mercilessly. We still have scores to settle with them, the dust is yet to settle and may Gor prove to them that matches are not won using dirty money but by the tactical and technical prowess on the field.

So all our local stations are not interested at all? Where are the Patriots in this country? So though the country is represented in the tournament, we have other priorities? Musonye, are you going to market the competition or it long lost its market value and therefore its meaning?
