Gor Mahia determined to fight for quarter-final place

With Gor Mahia staring early elimination from the 2014 CECAFA club cup, the players and officials still have enough resolve in them to keep fighting.  New signing Arthur Ssemazzi has stated that the team will fight to the very end and do whatever they can do to ensure a quarter-final place.

“We are determined than never before and we are well aware of what that game means to our chances,” Semazzi told Kawowo Sports.

“We understand a good result will put us back into the group mathematics and we shall go for it,” Semazzi who has so far featured in both losses as a substitute stressed.

On why the team has not done well so far, Ssemazi stated that the players have done their best but results simply have not come.

“The boys have put their bodies on the line and the togetherness in camp is unrivaled but good results have just eluded us. To me, it’s down to luck that we are in such a situation,” he argued.

John Pesa echoes Ssemazi sentiments

Vice Chairman and leader of the travelling delegation John Pesa also re-iterated that Gor Mahia are still not out of it.

“This competition is like a marathon. It is never won in the first minutes, but until the final kilometre. Mathematically therefore, we still have a chance, I believe we will sail through” , he said the the CECAFA website

“The team has been given all the support, they played well in their second game, but luck was not with us. Our best striker Dan Sserunkuma had a bad day at work and wasted three clear, one-on-one opportunities he had with the opponent’s goalkeeper, he added.”

“We also hit the side post and the cross bar. The one chance they had was a goal and that changed everything.”

To be assured of a quarter-final place, Gor Mahia need to win both their remaining matches and hope that results of other matches go their way.

Rama is welcome Back says Ngala

Gor Mahia eputy secretary Ronald Ngala has indicated that Gor Mahia have no issues with Rama Salim and that the order is open for him should he wish to return to the club.

“It is disappointing that he failed to get a club in South Africa and now we are sorry for him. We advised him to extend his contract with us before he left but he declined. However, we are still ready to welcome him back and keep him till the end of the season.  “He had a good striking partnership with Dan Ssserunkuma and we still appreciate this and would like to see him again doing the same.” said Ngala to goal.com

Aside from the South African trials, Rama’s stint with a Qatari second tier side also ended badly when he was suspended for six months for fighting a team-mate who fouled him during training.

I like the self-belief of the players. That’s the attitude we like at Gor. Even if we don’t make it further than the group stages we still love you guys and we still have another dragon called the TPL to slay. What’s happening to you guys is what makes soccer what it is. Very unpredictable. Who knew Brazil would be hit 7 at home and not even reach the WC final? Who knew that Spain will make history as the first defending champs to exit at group level?
As we play the next two games the guys should know that the local teams are really waiting for them here to see what experience they will have learnt from there. Though from what I am seeing locally we will still make it to the SUMMIT. That is how much i believe in you guys

Last kicks of a dying horse in Rwanda.I do not believe in those mathematical chances anymore. You had 180 minutes of play to perform just like others have done. Please come back and focus on defending the title. We do not want to hear excuses of fatigue and tight match schedules when you come back.

Tall order. The truth is we need to focus on retaining the KPL trophy. We are entering the homestretch.winning seven games and we are declared champions again. That for me is possible but not Kagame cup.

I still have not given up hope. The first game was bad defence. The second game was missed chances. Anything can happen with some better luck. I will not give up until they are mathematically out.

    Rama karibu nyumbani.
As 4 CECAFA well miracles do happen & this is Gor Mahono all the best.
2 me Gor Mahia is not about football but a cash cow 4 some vested interests.
How can the EC suddenly/mysteriously stop giving updates on the paybill/did KRA freeze that account like I had forewarned. What abt membership how many have registered 1,100,1,000,10,000 etc 4get the chase bank angle coz no legal entity will touch u with a 10ft pole when u’ve unresolved issues with KRA.
    Lets put GM football 1st

By the way it’s the Chase Bank that is offering us the players/TB medical cover.

When i said medical cover (though appreciated) does’nt pay player’s house rent/put food in their sufurias, their children fees etc I was called a hypocrite & ridiculed.
In addition 2 an EC with vested interests (the exorbitant hiring fees charged by Nyayo & City managers were highlighted here long b4 John Pesa spoke out) & average players i think coaching & attitude r big problems
Ati feedback from Gabon, that was a prem round minnow, an unknown club. When we met Esperance what HAPPENED!

It feels very nice to throw words carelessly at others. I wish were Aware that the best job is usually the one you are not doing. I don’t blame some of you especially the thankless n unapreciative lot. They are also the lot who enter the stadium without paying while shamelessly donning the famous Gor jersey.
We have not started well in the tourney but if the player know this n are not demoralised yet, i want to be among those who subscribe to the mathematical chance we have against Apr n Djibouti side. Past failures should not define us as much as its not good to be blinded by success.
In al cases our expectations should outweigh our experiences.
When you are on a journey yu don’t stop until your mind stops.
To the player, you know us with our sometimes unrealistic expectations but it is because you are Gor. You took us there. We want to remain there for nothing but bragging rights. So your vision of what you can be should be Greater than the pain you have been through. Neither success nor failure is permanent. It’s all about the mind.Go Go Kogalo go.

Oduor you are a reckless critic with no solution unfortunately. Given a chance give us your first eleven you think we should have recruited but didn’t and your technical bench otherwise stop stop annoying us with comments from a stolen techno phone.

That is the Kogalo i know and dream. That was a good show
by any standard. Lack of concentration by an otherwise outstanding defence did us in n caused the draw. Well done boys.
