Gor Mahia edge Chemelil

Gor Mahia extended their run of vcitories when they beat Chemelil 1-0 in a Kenya Premier League match at Nakuru’s Afraha stadium.

The all important goal came in the 56th minute via Ivan Anguyo who fastened onto Anthony Akumu’s pass to score. Angoyo timed his run perfectly to outwit the Chemelil offside trap. But Chemelil players bitterly protested the goal saying it was scored from an offside position.

The match was a difficult one as Chemelil worked overtime to cut out running space for Rama and Dan Sserunkuma. With Kogalo lacking sharpness upfront, coach Logarusic introduced Itubu Imbem. Less than 10 minutes later, Imbem had to leave the game with an eye injury.

In the last 10 minutes of the game, Gor Mahia pulled back to defence to defend their one goal advantage. After the match neither coach Logarusic nor the fans were happy with the game. Some fans blamed the internal wrangles that have plagued the team of late.

The match was played in Nakuru because the Chemelil stadium lacks terraces.

Lets congratulate the boys and say alluta continue. Comment on the Anguyo’s goal it was clear goal timed the runs to beat off side trap even coach mannoah agrees on futaa.com and post match analysis. For our injured players quick recovery and for the fans stoned on the way back to nrb poleni sana and wish they be burned from both stadia and streets.

  • We thank the Almighty God for giving us this victory. The mistake I noted was adopting the long ball pattern of Chemilil and lack of calmness and composure. We were giving balls away easily. We could have played our usual ground football with crisp passes. Today Anguyo played very well and congrats to Anguyo.

Boys let us keep on working hard and God will see us through. Let us continue praying for God to give us grace to overcome all our remaining opponents.

We played well and at the end of it all we acquired the all important 3 points. What I didn’t like is when we went back to defend the goal, it was too dangerous and we almost conceded in the process – I still feel Kenya as a whole and even at club levels are not good in defending. We give God all the glory for the victory, much thanks to all players who are now showing maturity in every match, coaches & entire technical bench, not forgetting passionate fans who traveled to Nakuru to cheer up the team. Let us remain focused until completion of second leg.

A demented Benson Ndisi, go to hell and never come back to this site. It’s meant for like-minded pundits. Not idiots. Back to the game, it was tough but the boys are developing a winning mentality, and soon the the pretty game will follow. Neat Passing football is a swagger that comes along with winning. Chemelil had a strategy bt we outwitted them. T
It was a tough match but we got 3 points and we can look forward to the next match. Congrats all, a trip with making.

There comes a time that name recocnition and winning tradition matter.Gor mahia has had a winning brand for along time. And the players have bought into this. They are fighting for their pride. We will therefore win with offence or defence.

  • Well done boys for the three points. It’s also refreshing to note that the fans, the players and the coach recognise that it wasn’t our best day in office. Messi attributes it to the bumpy pitch. We have rarely won on ths pitch and this could have had a phsychological effect on the players.
    Imbem: Quick recovery

On the fans who were injured poleni sana. I hope that it was not as a result of overzealous celebration. Please also note the the country is now like a gun powder keg, what with the charged political environment so let’s guard our comments on the political on-goings.

Back to soccer. It’s good that we now have a winning mentallity where we churn a win even when under pressure, like we did last week against KCB.
The thing now is to aim for a top three in the next three matches then exert pressure on the leading pack. I smell an upset in the few weeks to come

  • @?Benson Disi by way what game did Efusi played? Winning games with referees and fake penalties. City stars were robbed by poor officiating and you thought you won. We do not need your comments on this site.

Still i say win is a win whether u play neat or dirty the way we did. The technical bench should try and adopt new convetional ways of defending and not parking our defence. I mean try and keep the ball away from opponents and/or keep tight on them high on their side immediately we loose possession not back pedalling to our box. Let them build confidence on ball and play for one anothers support.

  • @substitution of Teddy due to injury affected our game plan. He was playing pivotal role in defending and feeding the strikers. Chemelil game plan was to frustrate us with rough tackling, long balls and stop Dan and Rama. We thank God for the victory.

Benson Disi@6 whats with you? Why dont you mind own business if you have any, like you sound you have no business at all. Why insult coach who has nothing to do with you.Three points in the bag and counting. On boys on…next two games six points position 3 and more pressure. Those at the top are already taking note, in other words they are getting to KNOW PEOPLE.

  • Second leg looks good! We only had 3 away games in the second leg and now 6 points out of nine. That’s something to celebrate. Only Muhoroni is left. They can also bring the game to Afraha for money.

I agree that the pitch can cause problems. Artificial turfs like what our players are using for training and games at City Stadium are too different from ‘kawaida’ grass. The speed of the ball changes and if it is bumpy, the results can be terrible.

Please cheerleaders, drop the ‘……yako song’. Even the goal came when they started singing the ‘Hallelujah’ song.

    Congrats boys! Congrats Green Army.

  • gor did well, not all games will be played with style and finnesse. three points was the target and we got them. chemelil was obviusly going to play spoiler. they new they could not win so the only plan was to frustrate gor then have they coach yapping about ‘GOR being lucky’. the SCIENTIST who are quoted by this writer attributing the perfomance to wrangles should have enlightened us more. WHAT WRANGLES, why isn’t he himself aware and merely mentioning what ‘some fans’ alledgedly said. pls do not do a miguna with stories around gor. say it in black and white. if there is a problem in gor say it FACTLY. otherwise congrats to gor.some matches are just that’ tough and boring, lets move on, i gave the croat 5 matches, he has won three. kudos.

  • Watched the match at sofaset branch (nairobi).Anguyo clearly did beat the offside trap.Sometimes this is the advantage of watching the match on tv,(you have the benefit of replays and seeing an incident from different angles).Wasnt’ the best of games but a win is a win, personally i prefer we’d rather play badly like yesterday but win, than play well but loose or draw,eg againts muhoroni in the 1st leg.

On the attack on our fans. From what i have heard and read ,it is clear that this attack was planned. And all indications point to a political and ethnic agenda. It is a pity that while some people are really trying hard to foster cohesion amongst the different ethnic communitier, some are hellbent on dividing our people.

Lets’ at all times always try to separate issues of politics and sports. In the meantime lets keep calm and support our beloved kogallo.

  • As much as we are now back on track can we be told the fate of Lavatsa. We need him to come and add the flair and speed to assist Sserunkuma and Messi upfront.
And how about Moses Otieno and Kevin ‘Daddy’ Omondi? I like their artistry in the middle field and the wings. I know we are now well-represented in all areas apart from the midfield.
On the Anguyo/Mosoti combination, though they make mistakes they still require us to inspire confidence in them. When it comes to aerial balls/hard game their combination I feel is better then Musa/Owino. Though all these players have their positive sides.

Why should disi use such provocative and abuse language,he should learn we have come from far since league began and we need togetherness in the team.Chemelil was tough opponent with most of their players playing together so win against them is big echo for coach, however, the coach should change tact quickly because most team have learn’t that rama plays along serrukuma.

Benson Disi@no.6, We managed 3 pts and we played really hard,it wasn’t a nice cool soccer as we always display. Chemellil were playing tough and more physical and therefore it wasn’t our game. Benson! we won and we got 3 pts. About the incident, clearly all of us know that some forces would like to provoke us so that we can react and we are very smart, they just want to use our reaction to paint Agwambo black. Rama and Sserekuma tactical play has been been studied and Chemelil discovered how to deal with the threat by keeping them at bay. Coach must devise several options to undo our opponents with unpredictable formations like Kevo , moses and Lavatsa as suggested by Dan, I fully agree with papamiky though the onus still rest with the bench to make their independent decision.

On fans ambush by political goons along Nakuru / Nairobi highway should sound like a warning bell that things are no longer rosy as we approach the electioneering period and may it’s high we differentiate GM as sporting club from the national politics. How we celebrate our wins and kind of wordings that comes along with songs and dances speaks volume on how much we step into others toe ‘s. Keep politics at a distance with GM.

@ Ochigah that is a blessing in disguise if we are playing EFUSI sooner than later as suggested by their officials. It will be a good opportunity for the coach to test the derby before our second leg “grudge match”.

How i wish we could inflict some painful defeat in the den to demoralize their title dreams albeit on their physiological confidence by denting there image as number one title contenders.

Benson Disi is a tragedy. Infact Benson Disi is what medics would call a ‘recurrent dislocation’. Look how displaced his comments are always.

Talk of medics, hats off to the lady who officiated yesterday’s match. Who knows what would have happened to Itubu Imbem had he continued playing?

To GM medical team you are fortunate you had an alert referee. Itubu’s was an obvious case of contre coup judging by the mechanism of injury and he is lucky not to have dislocated his left retina. Perhaps he was allowed by the medic back onto the field because of fear of disappointing the technical bench? Remember you are the expert in that area and your word carries a lot of weight. You should be able to make very objective and independent judgement when occassion demands. May I add that it is important to continue monitoring that player closely in the coming days for any tale tale signs of delayed involvement of the CNS.

We celebrate that rare win at Afraha without any reservations. It was a difficult match whose results could have gone either way. Our boy’s did their best and managed to grind a win. Congratulations.

May I also pay tribute to the Chemelil coach for graciously conceding defeat. His words after the match were a hallmark of maturity and sportmanship unlike in the first leg when he declared that he had ‘played against a coward team’. Congrats coach Edward Manoah.

s they come.In a big family there will always be some bad apples.I was impressed by many bloggers when they cautioned calmemness in the eye of the storm. We know we have Judas amongst us but Gor Mahia has weathered all kinds of attacks and hatered over the years.I see Gor Mahia as team for all seasons, all generations and all people. It is a little bit early but I’m having a mind set of celebration at the end of the season.Kogalo family has a right to persue liberty and happiness

@ 31 ATTENDANT I have noted your concern “SHEMEJI” and I think we on the same page. EFUSI is currently the number title contender and K’Ogalo are the number six title pretenders after the 18 rounds of KPL matches.
“Ei sialo sia changer” omwami ! if you agree with me. You won dirty on friday and we won scrappy on sunday ; but who is under pressure is it Grand Pa “wephukulu” or the ever maverick “Log”. Definitely you are number one by great efforts made in the first leg though do not forget that you guys cracked in the last minute and have allowed us to narrow the gap of 15 points to a paltry 8 points ( two draws against “chemo” and “THIKA” and one loss against K’Ogalo). This title is going down to the wire and come the round of 24 KPL matches we shall also “PEEL THE MASK” to be the real title contenders.

Pass my regards to Benson Disi and wish you all the best as we settle score during KPL super 8 ,Hopefully all our fans reason and we enjoy soccer as opposed to politics.
