Gor Mahia election candidates

Legendary club Chairman Zack Mbori in a club election in the mid 1980s

The Gor Mahia election board has released the full list of 26 aspirants.  Faiz Ochieng Magak who was voted out last time, is attempting to make a comeback to the 1st Vice Chair Position. Former musician Joseph Ogidi, of the Gidi Gidi Maji Maji fame, is trying to be the club secretary general.

Long serving club official, Ronald Ngala is confident of beating his opponent Reuben Ojijo.

“I do not know him that well so I cannot say what I have that makes me have an edge over him but I am positive of defending my seat. There are things that I would also love to change once I am re-elected. I want to make Gor Mahia better far much better than the way it is at the moment, that’s what we are working on, we just want to improve from what we have done. There are a few areas where we did not accomplish and we want to improve on”, he said to futaa.com.

Kilo, Ngala, Okuku and Kennedy Ouma should all be voted out from any leadership in Gor Mahia. Ngala has bee the Assistant Secretary for more than a decade and he is the mastermind of looting spree that he has used to construct a house at Choka. Kilo just opened a shop in Naivasha where he has been selling Gor Mahia jersey and pocketing the proceeds. He has also built a house in Naivasha with the looted money.

@Jamigori, it’s true accountability has ben an issue in Gor but can you stand before a lawyer and swear that it’s proceeds from Gor which has enabled the two to develop themselves? If so then I’m fully behind you but if it’s just emotional outburst then you stand a risk a legal appointment. Some might support you on these forum but when it comes to a legal process you will see none of them with you in court. Remember Jaro Soja is being sued but for the rest of us life continues.
All the same I hope the old office is swept aside and we have new blood. The top slot is the tricky one in that unless one person drops off then we have AR for the next three years. I hope Giddy becomes our Sec Gen and brings some fresh way of doing things

The society in which we live, has caused us a great deal. Corruption is taking over the very fabric of our good morals. It is becoming very expensive to the point that if one tries to say they are morally upright, no one would believe you. The truth of the matter is that there are still good apples. Secondly, the thought trend is that when a person moves up the ladder and seems to develop but because of a corrupt society it is all associated with Illuminati and other evil forces. The question however remains, can one still develop out of their own honest sweat and hard work?. The answer is yes. In relation to Kilo’s progress one of the above could be true in his personal development. If the means to his progress is corrupt then it should be made clear so that such is kept out of the office. But if it is positive then he should be emulated and be put back to the office as a living example.
With elections here, facts are needed so that we can vote wisely. Just a thought.

@jamigori if this looting can go on under AR watch, what does it say of the chair.Has AR ever complained of the looting or incompetencies of the two.I think you personalize GM matters 2 sana.U argue that ngala has over stayed yet you see no problem with the chair over staying. What I know the chair is the account and nothing goes on without him knowing.

@Jamigori Do not be gagged. There are many ways to kill a rat? What are their stated sources of income and vis a vis the assets they have acquired. Furthermore they are public figures and are subject to public scrutiny which is within your rights.

    My team
    Chairman: 2) Chrispine Omondi
Best manifesto/practical & achievable PLAN.Also resigned rather than be part of an unaccountable/opaque office. Note even Wazito have a CAF licence yet AR led office failed in its attempt because of poor financial records and structures after +8 years. Just hope Dan does’nt spoil for Chris as alluded by @D.O. Rachier anaweza pita kati kati

Senior Vice Chairman: 1) Francis Wasuna .
No choice and we need institutional memory

    1st Vice Chairman: 1) John Pesa :
The lesser evil than his opponent but scrap this post. His opponent is a NO.

    2nd Vice Chairman:
1)George Oria Ongudi, The lesser evil than his opponent but scrap this post infact his opponent is a NO.

Secretary General: 3) Joseph Ogidi Oyoo: He is the best known.

Deputy Secretary General: 2) Ruben William Ojijo.
Yawa how will the new office know where the spoons, unga and cooking sticks are hidden if we clear out everyone. Do we keep Ngala in this junior position because of institutional memory. We have Pesa and Wasuna better options.OUT NGALA

Assistant Deputy Secretary General: 1)Kevin Odhiambo Mbuya , 2) John Ochieng Onyango. JUST SCRAP THIS POST AT THE AGM.

    Treasurer: 1) Kennedy Ouma ,
Institutional memory and a very critical area. I would retain Kennedy Ouma since he will be checked by Chris Omondi who advocated for digitalization of operations.

Assistant Treasurer: 2) Carilus Onyango , 3) Calvince Okeyo Bungu.
Ouma above is enough for institutional memory OUT OKUKU WHO is the most qualified between Onyango and Bungu LET THE PAPER’S DECIDE.

    Organizing Secretary:2) Judith Anyango.
THE LESSER EVIL INFACT NYANDEGA IS PART OF TEAM RACHIER

Assistant Organizing Secretary: 1) Sammy Ochieng Ogola, 2) Beryl Peres Anyango. JUST SCRAP THIS POST AT THE AGM

GIVE TO CHRIS WHERE ARE THE REST CAMPAIGNING SURELY IF REGISTRATION DIGITAL?.

@Oduor12, do we really need these position with the coming CAF and Sports Act? Gor Mahia is like a political party with very many useless positions which are common with our political parties aimed at pleasing regions.

At this AGM, members need to make resolutions to abolish society status of the club and replace with a holding Gor Mahia Plc. The future of the club is to professionalize and commercialize the club into a going concern business. The era of the Society has been overtaken by the dynamics of the global football economics.

We should just have the board of directors offering oversight role on strategic direction of the club with a functioning secretariat (Excom) headed by CEO, Finance Director, Commercial & Merchandise Director, Marketing & Membership Director and Contracts, Partnerships & Support Director. The secretariat should be in charge of implementing the strategies developed and owned by the board.

What are the benefits of professionazing and commercializing of Gor Mahia:-
      1. The club will be run as a business enterprise with an objective of generating more revenues and making the profit that will be distributed to all stakeholders.
      2. There will be more accountability and ownership regarding the running of the club.
      3. Proper management of the players contracts without contracts expiring.
      4. Club will create employment to many youths and people with relevant qualifications.
      5. Secretariat or Excom and board will have performance contracts as their reward and renumerations will be pegged on their performance.
      6. Public disclosures will b requisites in terms of performing duties and engagement with all stakeholders.
      7. The structure will enable the club compete effectively with well established clubs in the continent and globally.
      8. Timely engagement with stakeholders through AGM, special general meetings and extraordinary meeting.
      9. Publication of the financial reports will become compulsory in compliance with the company act and other acts.
      10. Fund raising will become very easy as the holding company can raise funds from the public through the Nairobi Security Exchange and can borrow money from commercial banks.
      11. The holding company will be forced to embrace the good principles of corporate governance regarding management affairs of the club.
      12. Continuity of the management and running affairs of the club will become easy as the club will not depend on chairman or individuals to bail the club out of financial quagmires.
      13. Sales of the club merchadises and other related busines ventures will be well structured and properly managed as there will be proper logistical management being run by management or Excom. There will be sales targets and membership recruitment targets annually that will be captured and reported properly in the financial statements.
      14. Proper accountability and transparency as the club will have internal controls and audit functions.
      15. Directors will be appointed during the AGM and will have terms of 2-3 years as board members.
      16. The club will have more accountable governance structure for posterity not just relying on individuals with deep pockets.
      17. The club will conquer Africa again.

These are the reasons why we fans and members must support all initiatives to professionalize the club for a better future. Our children and grand children will become better and stronger stakeholders of the club.

Ohh my ! How I wish we had the position of 3rd vice chairman . I would have put my name forward .

Where are those saying the EC is bloated ? Do all these positions have job descriptions.

This is Kenya, better the devil you know than the angela who clamour for change in the name of manifestos.

I cannot believe that the club is still using the same constitution from 1968. That is the root of all problems. It used to be that the club needed several Vice Chairmen so they could inject their money into the club. Now we just have people eating from the club.

I sometimes wonder,we had no sponsor for quite along time nobody bothered to know how the club went about their business, nowwith sponsor on board every body is now raising concerns with regards to money misappropriated, how do you think that sponsors are fools that they will be dishing out money like that without follow up , style up please

If you’re clean why not table accounts showing how much are gate collections, sponsorship and contributions/”HUGE DEBTS” by those who claim to bankroll the club and the expenses. The club’s constitution has only specific 2 requirements for the annual AGM: PRESENTATION OF ACCOUNTS YEARLY AND ELECTIONS OF EC WHEN DUE.Sponsors don’t elect officials furthermore are not the only source of funding for the club. And if the sponsors where not “fools” how come EC failed in its attempt to get the CAF licence. GM has a youth team better than Tusker/ Ulinzi/Wazito,CEO etc are employment positions so don’t require constitutional amendments as EXCUSES.CAF licence was denied for LACK OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.SP sponsorship went AUTOMATICALLY to the 2 most popular clubs as a strategy to capture the market so its more because of the fans and not EC’s leave alone an individual.

        @Adris,
I can understand your disappointment, but do not worry. Money is forcefully attractive that even the dignified persons loose their dignity just to get it. That is also why a pickpocket would take all the risk just to lay his hands on it. It is also said, the Vultures only gather where there is a caucus and also that an empty hand or palm can not be licked. Just relax comrade.

GM has been holding elections & pple hv bin contesting, what is happening now with internet more & more fans are engaged & are aware of who & who is vying for which post.So I think it’s unfair to conclude guys are vying coz of sponsorship money.Do we hv a Kogalometer to gauge this pple. Some of us wuld go with ones ideas or vision regardless of their status, others wuld go for ones status/carrier, others bcoz of handouts or coz one is a relative. Why I think a new EC top to dwn wuld do better coz of how GM fans are now involved & wuld be put in check always hence strive to do wat they promised,bt if its AR & company it will be biz as usual “wametuzoa mentality”.So guys we can “drain the swamp” within EC
