Gor Mahia go down heavily in Algiers

Gor Mahia lost by the largest margin that they have lost in 41 years !

This after they were beaten 6-0 by Belouizidad of Algeria. Fans were under very few illusions given that the team has no coach, hardly trained together and had been on strike during the week before the match.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 27 – Kenyan League Champions Gor Mahia have a mountain to climb in the return leg of the CAF Champions League second round after succumbing to a heavy 6-0 beating away to Algerian side CR Belouizdad in the opening leg played on Saturday.

By half time, Gor were trailing 4-0 in a one-sided encounter that saw midfielder Amir Sayoud open the scoring seven minutes after kick-off before forward Hamza Bellahouel doubled up the lead four minutes later.

Deadly winger Sayoud grabbed his brace in the 20th minute from the spot as Larbi Tabti ensured the Algerian champions headed to the break with a comfortable four goals up after netting three minutes to the breather.

Returning for the last half, Sayoud completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute before Maecky Ngombo sealed the big win in the 67th minute.

The result now leaves K’Ogalo needing to do the impossible of overturning the results for them to reach the elusive group stages of the African Champions League since they need to thrash the North Africans 7-0 when they host the Algerians for the second leg on either January 5-6, 2021 in Nairobi.

A defeat will see the Kenyan side relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup play-off round.

Gor’s misfortunes began even before the game and they may have lost the match without kicking a ball after the troubles that surrounded them.

First Gor had to write to CAF to postpone the tie that was scheduled for Wednesday, December 23 because the Algerian airspace was closed, their plea was granted. However, this meant that they had little time to prepare for the crunch since the team arrived on the eve of the match, hence less time to acclimatize.

Secondly, Gor players were on a go-slow, demanding their salary arrears, this led to the team travelling without their key players like Nicholas Kipkirui who excused himself over family commitments, while skipper Kenneth Muguna, experienced midfielder Bernard Ondiek and John Ochieng’ were left out because of injuries.

This is a good medicine to the management who thinks that they will just mess up with things and finally succed .Why don’t they have a coach, why is it that only Gor Mahia players go on a go slow when they have a serious match to play? Why did many players leave Gor Mahia at the end of last season like that? This Gor mahia has bet safe as sponsor, bet king as premier league sponsor yet the management still fail to pay players. The management of Gor should know that they can’t manage Gor Mahia club as a luo funeral affair .Onyalogi Kabisa.WHAT DID THEY EXPECT?

Gor Mahia should learn to fight battles it can “afford”. I keep asking, is it a must that Gor particitipates in all caf competitions. This was one series that the club should have skipped.
You should have saved the money and used it for the league campaign instead. Gor will now have to endure brokeness and myriads of interruptions during the season.
The windfall that some officials expected did not come.

Now we drop the CAF Confederation Cup. 2 more matches.
      CAN WE PULL OUT?
WE SHOULD IF WE CAN, NO NEED TO WASTE ANYMORE MONEY & TIME.
IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES IT’S EVEN BETTER AND CHEAPER IF WE FACE CAF BAN AND FINE!

CURRENT TEAM AND TB IS SUBSTANDARD AND WON’T QUALIFY FOR CAF CON. CUP GROUP STAGE.

I repeat the first to be sacked should be TM Jolawi. This guy depends on “juogi” 100% of the time.
The result proves that the following are substandard for CAF
      1) TM and entire TB e.g why do we need 2 goalkeeping coaches especially since they may not even have adequate papers.
      2) Players especially many of those recently signed. Why do we need 5 goalkeepers.

Reduce the squad to 25 players and 5 TB including team doctor. We are wasting money just to be trashed 6-0.
You can’t expect to sort out 6 months of total disorganisation in 90mins.

Managing football is no longer ADOR top priority…. Why can’t we get a serious coach even if it’s a local 1..bure kabisa

ADOR is too busy fighting Nick Mwendwa . He has no time to manage the team or look for a coach

      • I was asking myself where the guts of braging about posting good results in Algiers by some members of your technical bench and some players came from? With all those in-adequate preparation,sub-standard players, infighting,go slows etc?In my opinion the main problem facing Gor is Gor members themselves for lacking unit of purpose/objectives and spirit for their club. Why?They let a total failure and inefficient Ador continue to lead the great club year in year out as if there is no able replacements. As far as Iam concerned there is highly educated and visionary Kenyans who can lead this great club to desired success like other great clubs in Africa.Unless you design some means of ousting incumbent chairman either diplomatically or by force I can’t see any chance of success in the near future and such perennial problems facing the club will continue to haunt the club until Jesus comes. Why don’t you pick a leaf even from your neighbour countries clubs such as Azam,Simba , Yanga ,KCC,Vipers etc the way they try hard to profesionalise their clubs?

My brother Dinga, am just asking since rachier took gor leadership. Is there any development he has done or clear structure he has put in place apart from receiving money from sponsors and paying players. • I foresee this year is going to be very bad to you even locally.Defending league title will be a tall order, considering the way your arch rivals AFC Leopards and other teams like KCB,Kariobangi Sharks and Tusker have strengthened their squads and perfoming.I bet they are all title contenders, any one of them will clinch the title. Also this year Afc Leopards will win one of the matches in mashemeji derby.

  • At least Afc leopards chairman shows some managerial skills and a bit seriousness to propel his club ahead and not your chairman. Why don’t you remove him now?
