Gor Mahia go hunting for three points against Yanga

Gor Mahia are in Dar es Salaam hunting for three points as they take on Young Africans of Tanzania in their fourth match of the 2018 CAF Confederations cup. A win for Gor Mahia will leave them at 8 points and put them in excellent position to make it to the next stage.

Coach Dylan Kerr emphasized the importance of winning on Sunday.
“Every game is very important for this club that is why we are not thinking about our win at home.” said Kerr to goal.com

But Yanga will be playing for pride and will come out all guns blazing so as to spare their fans another hujuma.

“This (Sunday’s Caf match) is going to be different and difficult because Young Africans will want to win by all cost.” continued Kerr.

Skipper Harun Shakava is also keenly aware that they will be facing a more determined Yanga side on Sunday

“It’s going to be a tough game especially that they (Young Africans) lost in Nairobi by four goals. Tomorrow, it will be different but we have come to get three points so that we qualify to the next stage.” said Shakava

Yanga not promising anything

Yanga, a team is known to throw its money around, are claiming to be facing financial hardship ahead of their encounter with Gor Mahia.

“Gor Mahia is a good team and we have to be ready for them, but looking at our condition we cannot promise more. Our plans are in tatters because we couldn’t train for almost five days because of economic hardship facing the club as players were demanding their salaries and signing-on fees. It is very hard for us.” said coach Mwinyi Zahera.

Mwinyi however is also keenly aware that losing this match will officially end their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.

“We know that this game against Gor Mahia is the only chance to revive our hopes to go through the next stage. It is a must-win game, and we need to work hard to make it happen,” Zahera was quoted by Caf online.

  • These are mind games being propagated by Yanga so that Gor Mahia can fall into their wicked and mischievous tricks. Gor Mahia should no fall into Yanga’s trap of baleful, vindictive, vengeful, vitriolic and rancorous.

      • @Oswozo Moziek, It will be live broadcasted in Supersports 4. DSTV is the official partner to CAF and therefore AZAM TV can’t show it.
