Gor Mahia were dominant but could not convert their possession into goals as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Ushuru FC

Jacob Keli missed a second half penalty for SportPesa Premier League champions Gor Mahia as Ushuru FC held them to a 0-0 draw at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday evening.

Midfielder Khalid Aucho was also taken off the pitch with suspected concussion in the first half as injury woes piled on the titleholders who rose to eighth on 11 points after the stalemate with Ushuru remaining 12th two points adrift.

Keen to record a third successive victory since former Brazil international, Ze Maria, took charge K’Ogalo who were missing four regular starters started on a high tempo, keeping Ushuru’s custodian Shanan Odhoji busy from the first whistle but the custodian put a man-of-the match performance to rescue the point for his side in the end.
He had to punch out a Keli’s diving header in the fifth after the forward seeked to profit from Karim Nizigiyamana’s cross.

Edmond Murai wasted the rebound before Francis Kahata powered another shot that went wide as the taxmen’s goal came under siege.

Innocent Wafula found Murai again in the box but Odhoji denied the replacement forward that came in with record signing and Rwandese international, Jacques Tuyisenge who was out injured.

A minute later Keli wasted a real chance shooting wide with Odhoji well beaten.

Ushuru responded with Charles Okwemba’s free kick just outside the box that went straight to keeper Boniface Oluoch who was starting for the second game in a row.

  • Benchpower hakuna. This will go down as the most wasteful kogallo match I have ever watched… Should have won by at least 3 goals.

Very disappointing game…this should have been the perfect opportunity to capitalize on ulinzi and Bandari losses!!
Then I also expected akina keli and mural to take advantage of their inclusion in the 1st eleven to shine but they failed miserably.
The whole team needs to pull up their socks as tusker awaitso this coming weekend!

  • The defenders are uncomfortable passing the ball;they prefer kicking the ball away leading to an immediate counter from opposing team.Ze Maria should work with Karim,Tuyisenge,Marcelo, nondi,Wafula,Luke etc.Am shocked some players can’t learn while discipline remains a key issue.I hope the coach does not give up.Help this players;;Ze Maria

  • Look at Karim he has passion compare with Aucho or Murai. We can’t pass accurately; the ball seems heavy;you wonder what does it take to join Gor?Can I join?.Basic passing is a problem.

It’s sad to imagine that had we won this game we could now be 4th on the log. A real morale booster b4 meeting tusker

  • As Gor fans let us be to the point. In June let us approve quality signings who can learn quickly at the striking, Defence and midfield. With the teams current money let us have the best.Ze Maria looked dejected. Someone tell him to hold on till June.I also have issue with indiscipline at the field;some local players think wako Mtaani;some of them are role models yet behave badly on TV seen across Africa;Bonface and Gatusso.

I said this b4 and will repeat it…Gor Mahia doesn’t sign former Ingwe players, they sign from us period period. It is a bad omen and keli will never thrive at Gor no matter how many chances you give him.I chatted with both Ze Maria and Minnaert after the match and our coach is frustrated at poor technical application of simple things which he always puts players thru paces while at training.Minnaert on the other hand is already sure of the two Malian Players and one Burundian players he will sign in June and knows exactly who he will axe starting with Israel Emuge,Lamine Diallo & Cresten Mwanzo.Gor we are still arguing about which foreigners to release while it is rather clear who have outlived their usefulness. As much as we may like or even love some players, they currently are not helping Gor is Abouba Sibomana,Marcelo plays better in that position,Walusimbi too can be replaced then we re-sign Meddie Kagere and on walusimbi’s place i can bring you a terrible dribbler & scorer unseen in this league called Selemani Ndikumana-Current Burundian national team captain playing left wing attacker…This sentiments i have even shared with rachier,a low or average performing foreigner is a waste of money and space in the team,go for the best that’s why the slots are limited to only 5…No Offence jodhot

Well said. The fight in some of the foreigners has fizzled out. Maybe to rejig their careers they need to get other challenges out of Gor

  • With Keli having being payed to betray the team, he laughed his way throughout the match instead of rueing the countless chances he squandered upfront. As a striker, scoring one goal in eight appearances is the hallmark of not only failure but also unrivalled betrayal of the Kogallo fraternity. Let us know why a striker laughs after missing a penalty yet the game is still locked. Let us know why a striker shoots the ball away from the goal yet the goalkeeper is well-beaten then he laughs.

@Jambita, nobody is ever recruited to betray the team. The truth is that Gor standards and expectations are too high for some of ur players. Let’s pray for them to get teams where they can prosper like Timothy Otieno is doing at Rangers. At tmes I think our strikers are working too hard instead of smart and therefore end up being very pedestrian. Anyway all is not lost though psychologically had we won the game Tusker wold have been a more worried team. All the same we still wish the tem all the best

Stop abusing and insulting players. Blame those that signed them as they were busy sharing the signing fees with players. The officials knew that Olunga and Kagere were leaving and headless officials like Ngala were busy recruiting and sharing the signing fees. You harvest what you plant period.

Gor Mahia is being run like Chase Bank that went under due to poor corporate governance where the senior executives are involved in all malpractice. This is the same way the team is being run with gluttonous officials that do not care about the club.

  • When Gor strikers are marked by defenders from the opponent teams, they are like saloon cars in between modern Coast buses. Save for Tusiyenge, recruitment team at Gor must have had a high affinity for short strikers.

  • PLAYERS LIKE KELI,AUCHO,OKOTH,OCHIENG AND BLACKBERRY SHOULD BE AXED FROM THE TEAM THE ARE NOT PERFOMING

  • Danny Serunkuma is a very short player and on two seasons he was the top scorer in kpl and for Gor Mahia. Remember the combination of Rama Salim and Serunkuma. I think the coach only needs to get the right combination for Murai and Keli and BlackBerry is too lazy to be relied on the boy is not working hard.

    • Sure, I can’t agree more about the likes of Sserukuma. Let’s hope they will improve.
