Gor Mahia partners with the Standard

This is the Gor Mahia treasurer

Gor Mahia have signed a partnership with the East African Standard. The deal is aimed at helping the club foot their expensive bills involved in playing in the African champions league.

The Short Message Service driven campaign seeks to mobilise fans to raise funds for the team and will supplement an already existing effort by the club to raise money through the pay bill number 350100. By sending an SMS to the number 22840, fans will subscribe to the service and with it make a donation to the club.

To kick-start the campaign, Standard Group donated a cheque of Sh100,000 to the 14-time KPL champions courtesy of ‘The Nairobian’. Standard Media Group Managing Editor Digital David Ohito said the partnership between the two entities will not only help Gor raise money, but will also help officials have a register of fans. Gor Mahia treasurer Ken Otieno thanked Standard Group for the partnership and admitted that the club is broke saying the noble gesture has come at the right time.
This follows a similar deal signed with the Kenya wildlife society that is geared towards defraying the cost of hosting teams and another deal with East Africa Breweries that enables fans to fund their respective teams via the “Jenga Game” campaign.
The treasurer also made the shocking announcement that the club was in arrears in player salaries.
“Our accounts are empty and have not paid our players their November salary. We are calling upon corporate sponsors to come on board and assist us,” he said.

Thank you Standard. One can say that this account is 100k. richer at the start. But firstly let me critisize myself. When I read 100k partnership deal with the Standard Newspaper I said wait a minute. But I realized that it is because I know Standard to be a big farm and aware that in their social responsibility programs, they pump in millions, eg the just concluded Standard Marathon. However, I realize they in-cooperate the interest groups. It is on this point that I have the comfort to say that the first step could lead to a thousand steps. May be within their own kamkunji they are putting us on a weighing machine. I also see a possibility of them airing K’Ogalo in the right light during our matches. T hank you once again and may we continue to support Gor Mahia the team we love.

@Jaupanda, the marathon is sponsored by the SCB while this one is the one that also runs KTN.
Like you said all these corporates are actually putting us on a weighing scale and depending on how we carry ourselves we might get a good sponsor.
Meanwhile we have to persevere with the pain of being broke.
It’s ironic that when the team is broke even the bloggers disappear from the site

I have not disappeared Dan, just been taking a break but in deep sympathy with the situation. This was expected but am saddened more that even the membership drive which in my mind could have raised a lot of money was just shelved like that, and all that because we “supporters” did not support it.So now which way? the cooperative way? will we take it up? Yet it is not the time to point fingers, lets give positive suggestions, those that can help the club now and in future.

@Dan Original, thank you so much for that spot on correction. I must have been carried away so that I did not distinguish between the two.Have a great day.

@Dan Original i did attend the event and true to your words K’Ogalo financial status is very worrying. The body language and outlook of the players present spoke volume about the pathetic situation.
In summary the treasurer and Vice chair confessed that Gor Mahia can not compete in the current transfer market unless some well wishers chip in. We may still suffer players exodus like in June.

@ODUOR 12 and all the contributors of “OPERATION LINDA GOR MAHIA BRAND” am hereby happy to report that our collection was handed over to the players in the presence of three officials namely 1st Vice Chair,Treasurer and organizing secretary.

The money was handed to days acting captain namely Innocent Mutiso and it was collectively agreed that they will share it out between the playing unit and Technical bench.

ONCE AGAIN I THANK YOU ALL GOOD PEOPLE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION.

Nobody has disappeared, but my guess is that most are just flabbergasted at why November salaries have not been paid yet 12M was raised just the other day.
Surely how will EC attract/retain quality players with such a laid back attitude.
That November salaries have not be paid has shocked many to silence!
WHAT WAS THE ESSENCE OF THE FUNDRAISING.
YES YOU MAY BE GENUINELY BROKE BUT EC PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THE 12M WAS SPENT & WHAT IS OF MORE PRIORITY THAN PAYING PLAYERS SALARIES.

Jabilo please confirm (I don’t know how) the the Gor Mahia.net’s contribution was handed over. There is no mention of it. If Standard group gave kshs.100,000 there GM.net’s contribution of kshs.31,231 was that a small as to be given a total blackout.
Yawa wache Gor tek kabisa it leave you speechless tongue tied KABISA.
