Gor Mahia raid KCB vault

In what is probably the most thrilling match Kogalo has played in the season, they beat KCB 3-2 in a Kenya premier league encounter on Saturday.

George Midenyo opened the scoring with a well taken free-kick in the 15th minute. Gor Mahia led 1-0 at halftime. 5 minutes into the second half, Rama Salim combined with Baldwin Ngwa to score the second goal as Kogalo went up 2-0. On 70 minutes, KCB were awarded a penalty which they duly converted to bring the score to 2-1. 10 minutes later, Rama Salim was on target again, this time with a long range pile driver. As KCB piled the pressure, former Gor Mahia striker Ezekiel Odera pulled one back for a final score of 3-2.

All in all a good outing for Kogalo. They rarely score three goals in one match so this is a good sign that the offence is clicking. Rama Salim has been given the freedom to surge forwards and rove onto either wing. And the tactic appears to giving defences nightmares.  However the defence appears shakey and often seem to run out of breath in the second half.

Gor Mahia: JerimOnyango, Musa Mohammed, Yusuf Juma, Ivans Anguyo, Donald Mosoti, David Owino (Anthony Akumu 36’) ,Ali Abondo, Rama Salim, George Midenyo(Edwin Lavatsa 67’) ,Baldin Ngwa, Moses Odhiambo

we are now reaping the benefits of patience and being decisive. Behind the pack leaders is Mighty Kogalo, breathing fire and full of confidence. In Logarusic we trust-for the spirit of Kogalo brought him at the right time.

It was a good performance and we are happy we got the maximum 3 points at the end of 90 mins. One area we need to improve on before our next match is attacking/going for the ball from the opponent and not running away when the opponent is coming to pin us in our own half. I witnessed almost all players running behind to our danger area each time KCB had the ball instead of attaching to win the ball back and that is how KCB easily cornered our defense to score the second goal with ease.

  • As already highlighted above our defensive picking is not tight as almost everyone backpedals. We need a stopper and owino can do it. Today he was wrongly positioned. However Anguyo gives 119% but requires Owino as the stopper and not Mosoti. A good game . Keep it up kogalo. Two more wins and you are there.

Congratulations to the team 4 a job well done. We must however improve on our midfield that seems to run out of ideas thus making us to play very defensively while pinned down to our own half. Once more, congrats everyone 4 the sweet results

  • Good ! Now I know why we leak goals………defensive midfielder is lacking and we seem to lack concentration. Our players lack tactical awareness . Lagrusic pls do something ! Focus should be on gelling an all round outfit and installing tactical discipline . If we can win the next three consecutive matches then we are in for the title . Am happy things are changing.

  • Congrats boys. This just goes to show that patience pays. One thing to remember is that in some cases we will lose and that’s when some of us blast everybody and everything in this column. Let’s support the players, tech bench and EC even when we lose. Right now you will not hear or read from some bloggers, but wait when we lose. They will be all over the blog calling for all types of actions.

  • We are heading somewhere with some adjustments on technical acumens in the midfield and defence. Coach need to do something in the central and defensive midfield to help build confidence in the defenders.

On our attack we need supplies from both the wingers, left, right and central midfield to cause havoc to the opponents and these are areas if sorted out then we can win most of our games.

  • WELLDONE BOYS!

    Congratulations boys for the win.

I am proud that for the first time this season, the win has booked us a Top 8 spot of the prestigious and most lucrative tournament. The top prize, 100, 000 dollars ( ksh 1 million) is now within our sight.

There is only one match remaining during this first round of KPL matches. Let us approach this game as if it the final. Or still just like the Ulinzi vs Gor Mahia match at Afraha. Stadium in Nakuru during the 2010 KPL season. I still have fond memories of the thriller that was to decide whether the prestigious KPL silverware was to go to either Ulinzi or K’Ogalo. Unfortunately it was Ulinzi who lifted the cup.

We are also only 8 points shy behind our traditional rivals, Ingwe and only 10 points behind the new leaders, Tusker. This therefore leaves the league wide open. With the new impetus provided by the new coach, Hurricane Logarusic coupled with a rened sense of committment and determination by the players, K’Ogalo therefore is the team to watch.

Coach Logarusic ability is starting to show what with flashes of skills being displayed by the likes of Salim, Ngwa and Midenyo upfront. No suprise therefore the number of goals is slowly moving up. We still have along way to go including beefing up our defence which is wanting. I am happy the coach have already noticed.

    SALUTE TO FANS

To you comrades fans, i can never thank you enough for the unwavering support and displine this days.Rain or sunshine, you’ve continued to pour into the stadium to cheer our boys to victory. I salute you and keep up the fire.

Rama you have vindicated our appeal to Gor Mahia to sign you when Gor met Congo United at Mbaraki last season. It was a 2-2 draw but what you did to GM on that day made us K’Ogalo fans who know you shout from the terraces for GM to sign you.

You are more dangerous off the ball than when you have it. Defenders panic because they don’t know what you will do with that ball when it reaches you and in the process they make costly mistakes. You have the ability to strike accurately on first touch…and you can do this with either feet or even the head…Can we ask for more? Maintain that tempo.

Your joining K’Ogalo has given you a chance to polish and showcase the skills we saw in you back at Khadija Primary School grounds in Kongowea. You have finally reached home.

Ibrahim Kitawi you also have the capability of doing what Rama is doing if you put your heart to it. With Rama, Kitawi, Daddy and Moses Otieno in that midfield for 90 minutes our midfield will be one very entertaining and efficient machine.

Very few teams take time to cool down at the end of the game. I commend its introduction in GM because though it looks simple, COOL DOWN is a very effective and inexpensive means of preventing some of the many serious sports injuries like those we have been faced with. Thank you team. Thank you @Dan.

  • rama is going to shine in gor. but the inevitable is coming. the division 4 clubs in scandinavian countries are watching. what a cheap buy… pls pls rama. do not go to these countries. play in tunisia or egypt. they are much better and your level will rise but do not go to these div 4 clubs. but first rise ur game in africa, preferably with kogalo. bring up the club with you and kenya will never forget you. i wud give two seasons, after this we all understand that u have to go for the best offer, then go to the major european leagues…but remember if you have no history in africa then rest be assured you will get the BB treatment. a kenyan player has to work much harder coz our football pedigree is not known. follow these guys playing in the div 4 clubs and u will be finished fuuti-wise. take a trophy with gor then weigh ur options. ofcourse i am only wishing u the best and i know i have no business advising any player. but i do believe gor will rise… my plea to adidas guys is still the same… wacheni watu waone ball studi. ur stones scare away too much money. gor could be at least matching what thse tz clubs are offering players by now. but with adidas guys i sincerely do not expect you to understand this. to coach and players and the true fans who believe in the image, greatnes and well-being of the club KANGARAtulationa.

  • NOT STRONG MEN BUT STRONG INSTITUTIONS IN SPORTS

‘Africa does not need strong men but strong institutions’. These were the famous words of President Obama while addressing Ghana’s parliament during his historic visit to Africa.

AFC Lepards is currently embroiled in a leadersship tussle that have now ended in court. It is disheartening to watch fans of a great club such Ingwe trying to solve their differences through blows and kicks.

As i stated elsewhere on this blog, when Gor Mahia sneezes, AFC Leopard go down with flu and vice versa.

The two big community clubs share both historical, cultural and political relationship that dates back many years ago. I have also always stated that Gor Mahia And AFC Leopards bitter rivalry on the field is not personal but business. AFC Leopards is struggling to surpass the record set by K’Ogalo in the Kenya Premier League. Gor Mahia, well known by their big ego, on the other hand, is guarding the record jealously by keeping Ingwe at bay.

The KPL is now very exciting to watch thanks to the rival clubs.

It is prayer and hope that our brothers and sisters will resolve their differences amicably and expeditiously and avoid another episode such as the one witnessed last year.I am sure each party to the conflict is aware of strain these squabbles will generate with their sponsors. The loyal fans of AFC Leopards, including the number one fan, Juma are not amused by the latest development.

We at K’Ogalo urges all the parties involved to work extra hard to resolve the matter. Men will come and go, but institutions remain forever. Let us all therefore strive to build strong institutions even in sports in order to bequeth our youth strong institutions that they can be proud of. As for the return Top 8 match between K’Ogalo and Ingwe, bring them on. We still have unfinished business with you guys!0

  • @?PAREYIO 09 you are spot on regarding AFC Ingwe. I remember Gor fans stood with ingwe when they were almost relegated to the extend that we used to go and support ingwe. I felt Magelo betrayed Kogalo fraternity by insisting on KPL to handover three points to Ingwe whilst the match ended on full time basis.

Also magelo insisted that ingwe would not play Kogalo but remember the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Why did magelo gone this far in football?

I likr the quotes of ?PAREYIO 09, those that lives in glass houses should never attempt to throw stones because you do not not know what will happen tomorrow. What Magelo could have alluded to was to help Kogalo to stamp out hooliganism but not insisting on punutive measures against Gor Mahia. We equally have almost the same fans and we need to work together to get rid of thuggery and hooliganisms but not condemning you shemeji.

  • As @Mwakio and @Pareyio have put it let’s hope the shemejis put their house in order. After all these two clubs are the ones that spice the local soccer scene. Some of the rest are basically welfare departments in their respective organisation providing CSR. This should also be a lesson to us to leave politics outside our beloved club. I commend the fans who have made sure they and the club are not endeared to any politician.

KCB is one of the most impressive teams this season and the three points are welcome.

  • @Ja Thur gi ji, suppose we play well and our team is beaten, what will be the verdict? Suppose we play badly and win what will be the verdict?

I think what matters most are victories. It is better to win ugly than playing well and loosing the matches. Three points are very important. Let entertainment part of the game comes later after we have won most of the matches.

That is what you expect when you allow the technical bench to do their work.
@3, Mcosweto, the coach did comment that they played well but need to work on their defence line.
I was impressed that even after the match the team still had to be taken through another excercise to relax their muscles as they go home.
Let us walk together and remember where we’ve come from, also let us give glory to the Almighty God.

Now the shoe is apparently on the other foot and I must smile a bit even as I sympathize with the lots of Ingwe supporters.

Just as Pattni said that those that live in the glass houses should never attempt to throw stones. This is a good lesson for Ingwe too.
