Gor Mahia transfer news Dec 11
A report suggests that Gor Mahia offered Jackson Saleh Ksh 600,000 to cross over from AFC Leopards. What scuttled the deal and saved the day for AFC was that chairman Ambrose Rachier did not show up for a scheduled meeting with Saleh.
“Gor Mahia offered Saleh Sh600, 000 and he was ready to go but what saved the day for us (Leopards) is the fact that Ambrose (Rachier) did not turn up for a scheduled meeting with the player where they would have signed the deal. We took advantage of that lapse to convince him to stay,” said an AFC official to goal.com.
Saleh has since renewed his deal at AFC.
Reports were rife in cyberspace that Saleh had already joined Gor Mahia. These reports were likely leaked by eager beaver club officials. Once again silence is golden.
And in a twist of irony , the AFC official used the examples of Eric Masika and Tim Wanyonyi as examples of why a move from Gor Mahia to AFC never succeeds.
“We gave him example of Eric Masika and Timonah Wanyonyi to show him that moving from AFC Leopards’ to Gor Mahia or vice-versa is not usually a good career move.”
This is highly ironic considering that it is AFC who ruined the careers of the two players and it is they who are pursuing Owino Calabar.
Meanwhile Secretary general Chris Omondi says the club has come to terms with the fact that there two targets Geoffrey Kataka and Charles Odette have both joined Posta Rangers instead
It is quite unfortunate that we have lost two of our transfer targets and will now have to reconsider our options.
“We had tried to sign the two players – Odette and Kataka – in June but we were unsuccessful and hoped we could finally acquire their signatures before the new season. Now they are gone and we will adjust to other options, he said to the club’s site.
Nevertheless it is not just Gor Mahia who lost out. Both Tusker and AFC were said to be pursuing Odette and Kataka
Other reports suggested that Ezekiel Otuoma had not received any offers from Gor Mahia either.
Still Omondi indicated that they are chasing promising deals.
“There are bigger challenges in the transfer market and the ground is uneven but we will do our best to acquire the right quality and talent to strengthen our squad and fill the gaps left by the two confirmed exits so far. “
“We are closely chasing some promising deals too and hopefully we will soon confirm a few acquisitions, “
In this case, silence is golden. Everytime Gor Mahia announces that they are pursuing a player, other clubs come into the fray and matters become complicated
In short, no acquisition yet.
Hakuna pesa…….shida tupu !!!
Are we talking too much? I think so and even spoiling things by our very own talk. Is the EC working quietly on some issues? Yes and please please let them do so, kwani you think they are all fools and you are the clever one? Nooooo!!!!! know you all comrades that everyone would want to complicate matters for us. So EC please go on your business quietly.
What I know about Gor is that we don’t go for quantity but will sign some few quality players to carry all along the path to glory. Even Ingwe seems to have learnt from us. They are no longer playing the Manchester City of Kenya anymore. Let’s give the EC time as good players don’t just come, they have to be convinced that they are making the right move since many suitors are afer them
Ref: Prevoius post Gor partners with Standard
I meant to say “If Standard group gave kshs.100,000 then was GM.net’s contribution of kshs.31,231 so small as to be given a total blackout.
Jabilo I think we were posting at the same time.
Thanks for the confirmation, though a receipt number/reference would have been better in my view.
I thank you & CEO for your initiative and time on this worthy cause.
You are right a picture is worth 1000 words. The body language in that photo (previous post) is worrying.
Are they also wondering where the 12M went?
**If GM treasurer is on record as saying November salaries have not been paid, do you expect quality players to show interest?
Was Saleh being signed behind AR’s back?
Was Saleh being signed without TB’s blessing leave alone the fact that the Head coach position is a mystery?
In GM even simple matters turn out complicated and very opaque like paying not paying salaries on time after you’ve just raised kshs.12M
the transfer updates are indeed transfer gaffes
The irony is that some fans are currently not aware of the goings-on at the team but come January will be demanding to know why we have not recruited ‘Ronaldo’, ‘Messi’, et al and casting all asperations on officials, TB and anything Gor
Toka hapo Omondi what do you mean? Please don’t judge too early
I do not think GM is going for quality as Dan Original states. Treasurer already told us that the club is too flat broke to sign players. We need a way forward.
no hope at all. it’s crumbling so fast. we don’t know the next excuse shall be. he who fails to plan, plans to fail. blessed
Thants typical kogalo fan for u.
Lots of noises will not help the club at this time. Players are not vegetables that are easily bought in the market places. If you want quality players, use paybill number to enhance transfer kit. We fans particularly Jakoyo are just noisemakers with no tangible solution being offered on the table.
We have been talking a lot about SACCO but no action being given by the EC. As much as the office is trying, we are being let down by noises too from some EC members like the Secretary and Treasurer. They better talk less and do much.
With no money to purchase quality or retain their key players, Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia face a bleak future and are uncertain whether they will honour their Africa Champions League fixtures next year.
Already their talisman Dan Sserunkuma has left the club for Simba Sports of Tanzania while fellow Ugandan Geoffrey Kizito failed to agree terms with the club management over a contract extension.
There is also talk their top defender David Owino may not be available next season.
The transfer window is open but Gor Mahia has been inactive due to lack of finances to purchase new players and now the club secretary Chris Omondi says they do not have money to honour their fixtures for the Champions league.
“To be honest, it does not seem good. We need a strategic corporate partner to sponsor this team or we might not be able to compete well even in the league,” he said.
“We need over Sh30 million just for recruitment of players and to play in the preliminary and first round of the Champions league and a similar amount to compete well in the league. We do not have that kind of money.”
I disagree with ingwe’s management when they say that when players switch clubs between Gor and AFC they do not do well. Truth be told;when star players leave Gor for ANY team for that matter, they usually end up not doing well. From Peter Dawo to Rama to Ade to BlackBerry to Masika to wanyonyi etc. They all fail to impress. Just watch to what is going to happen to sserenkuma.
