Gor Mahia U-20 to put problems aside as they play Ingwe

Prior to the Gor Mahia-Tusker match, Gor Mahia U-20 and their Ingwe counterparts will kick off the KPL U-20 tournament. Gor Mahia will be represented mostly by the junior side that won the Nairobi Championship Cup last year. The team has however been rocked by serious financial challenges this year. They almost missed their last two fixtures. It took the intervention of fans who twice collected money to send the team to the matches. There are reports that there is discord between the club executive committee and the Gor Mahia fans foundation who formed the team. The club EC reportedly wants to take over running the team.

They will take on an Ingwe side coached by former Sofapaka coach Ezekiel Akwana. HE selected the INgwe team from methodical trials. Thika United, Stima and Mathare United are the other teams withy standing youth teams that could do well.

The last group stage matches will be played on Thursday next week after which the top two teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals.

The final of the tournament will be played on April 30, and the winners will walk away with a cash prize of Sh500, 000.

The match starts at 12:30 PM Saturday.

We have sponsors and why should under 20 suffer?

I have been vocal against this Ambrose Rachier led EC for lack of focus and this is why they should be voted out of office come the election.

Under 20 should be the feeder club to the main team and if we continue to ignore it for selfish reason by these visionless officials, then we do not know where we are going.

Why can’t gate collections be dedicated to fund the youth Programme yawa?
