Gor Mahia have been eliminated from the 2015 Africa champions league after losing 0-1 to AC Leopards at the Denis Sassou Nguesso stadium. They thus go out 0-2 on aggregate.

C Leopards scored the only goal of the afternoon through forward Magnokele Bissele.

After conceding the goal, Gor Mahia pressured the Congolese but were stifled by poor finishing.

Gor Mahia’s best chance fell on the feet of Olunga shortly after the interval when he pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the area and curled it past the Leopards defence but it went wide.

Nuttall brought on the speedy Ronald Omino for George Odhiambo with ten minutes left but Gor couldn’t get the job done.

In the 84th minute, Olunga was cautioned for scoring after the whistle had been blown.

All in all , the players are to be commended for putting up a fight considering the issues that the club has dealt with this past week

Starting XI:

1.Boniface Oluoch, 2.Musa Mohammed, 3.Kevin Oluoch, 4.Glay Dikir, 5.Harun Shakira, 6.Collins Okoth, 7.Timothy Otieno, 8.Ali Hassan , Abondo, 9.Michael Olunga, 10.George Odhiambo, 11.Godfrey Walusimbi

Big congratulations, you have put in a brave act despite all the problems, you have given me something to smile about. The team in place now should be the one to give us the cup next year but only if it is maintained intact.

From what I hear we had 65% of possession but couldn’t make use of it. This shows that we were not intimidated by the hosts. Congrats to the team for a battle well fought. Considering the AC Leopards is rated 13th out of the best 30 team in Africa I am proud of the boys. KUDOS again. Now let’s show the local teams what football is all about

  • Indeed it was going to be a miracle if gor advanced past this stage, anyway considering the amount of resources availed to prepare this team for the tournament, the results posted here are very much acceptable and i want to congratulate our boys their efforts.
I want to inform the public that when a team is participating in such a tournament and becomes victorious, the glory that comes with such victory is not only for the club but for the whole country. On that note i want to request the government and the corporate world to start supporting such endevours for in their victory we all benefit

    • I agree 100%. Teams in continental completions are ambassadors of the country. It does not make sense to give spouses of former presidents millions of shillings per year in allowances while our teams suffer. The least the government should do is buy air tickets and pay for accommodation. It didn’t also make sense for our president to pay air tickets for players to go watch the world cup instead of helping continental bound teams.

  • Millioni kumi zimeteketea mwotoni. ….. only one team will eventually win this thing. However, if a team is not capable of being competitive, then there is no need to participate as that would be a waste of money……. Lakini Kweli Ingwe ni Ingwe

@Ingo does that apply to the local league as well? Does Allstars and City Stars have any reason to be in the KPL knowing that they cannot win it?

      Reply
      • If All Stars and City Stars are going in debt for the sake of participating in the KPL, I would say yes. No sense at all. I mean how will they pay the debt?

AFC have not even cleared their player’s salaries for January and are struggling to pay one man Logarusic his full March2015 salary (as if he alone will take to the field).
To AFC a month has 90 days and that’s normal.
Please understand that GMFC’s money will never help AFC and vice versa.

@ Dan Original don’t pre-empt the Sacco model. If its just a way of funding the amorphous and opaque Society structure then it will fail.
GMFC Society must be dissolved and replaced by the Sacco.

You see, even Rachier agrees with my philosophy about focusing on tournaments that Gor have a high probability of winning…….Anyway, good luck mashemeji. I am sending 5,000 shillings to help with your kitty. Fly that flag high like Paul Ereng, Douglas Wakihuri, John Ngugi, Robert Wangila Napunyi and yes like the 87 Gor team did. Tuko pamoja.

There is a confused mind for you- Buying clothes a beautiful dressed shemeji’s wife while his own wife is roaming around stark naked as his children also naked have not eaten since January. Ati am sending 5,000 help yourself first before you help others.

  • Congrats team. We need to prepare properly with earlier registration of players with CAF and the coach should be there to oversees the process. We need to plan in advance and come up with budget to cater for preliminaries next time we qualify.

gone to Afraha to play Ulinzi last week?

I hope we will not treat the SACCO just like we are treating the membership drive and the 350100 initiative. We need to be open to all these suggestions/initiatives so that those not for the SACCO can opt for the membership or PayBIll initiatives. After all these will all go a long way to stabilize the club

  • Even the idea of gor sacco will not take off if the suspicion of money being embezzled is not cleared. The office must first put its accounting books in order before any activity can take off.

The paybill number started off very well untill they became mean with information that is when fans smelt a rat and stopped contributing.
So, all that is needed is TRANSPARENCY @Dan original.

  • I am very proud of our team’s effort taking into account the obstacles they had to surmount to even honour this match. Congratulation are in order as you have shown us that you are dedicated and prepared to play for the badge. There is nothing shameful in losing an away match 1 nil, more so at the continental level and to a team that is currently ranked much higher than ourselves in Africa. We will be back, much stronger, meaner and determined!! But it is shameful to lose to a local team (Ulinzi Stars) 1 nil. And what about your coach trying to justify the loss as having been occasioned by your not playing at your home in Nairobi but “AWAY” in Nakuru!!!! Gor Mahia is not walking at the same pedestal with efusi. It is indicative that every match played anywhere in Kenya is a HOME match to us. We moved on to bigger things and I urge every Kogalo follower to stop paying any attention to this blubbering fool called Ingo. We cannot be compared to that classless club that he purports to support. Efusi has never tasted continental glory so how do you expect them to know what it takes to be successful at that level??? Kumasi Ahsante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, Esperance de Tunis, and Zamalek of Egypt are some of our contemporaries and therefore would readily understand our stand point. please remember this:- Despite Arsenal winning more collective trophies than Chelsea, they are still looked down upon by Chelsea fans because they have never won the Champions League while Chelsea has. Efusi and their deluded fans MUST therefore shut their traps whenever a Kogalo fan is addressing issues related to football. Gor Mahia beats them hands down in every aspect football. FORWARD WATU WA KOGALO!!!!!!

Definitely the ‘absolute’ Chair could do GM a favour by kindly affording the these three basic issues for the short term:

    1. Keep the regular first eleven together (the core team may be 15 players) for the next season.
    2. Keep the tech bench together for the next season.
    3. Whichever financing mode he may prefer..please begin early i.e Sacco, Harambee, sponsorship, begging and or accountability at the gates.

I believe we can do well with a cohesive team, stable tech bench and reliable financing. We will not be far from doing well given the spirited fight we offered with a new team of players, unstable tech bench and emergency financing.

At least we have ‘ a stable EC’ which is a big step ahead.

    • Kassim, the first step is to sign 2-3 year contract with the existing players to be assured of a continuity. Lets avoid the embarrassment we faced this year, if we had the first 11 of the team including the Rwandans we could have gone through. But does he have the strength to do that, we will still go through this problem again.

@Collins, the first step cannot be long-term contracts but financial stability. Who will sign a long-time contract without knowing whether the money will be there tomorrow?. Can you tell an Ingwe player now to sign for over 1 year? No way and this is not in bad faith to @Ingo and our shemejis.
Anyway we have to approach this financial thing in all ways possible. If some guys can take the SACCO route and run with it, while others go the membership way as others look for sponsorship and other ways the better. Had on radio over the weekend that Gor is worth over 640 million in terms of advertising and that is potential waiting to be tapped. The analyst argued that Gor should not be sponsored for less that 120m per year though our achless is the Gor fan who behaves like a hooligan by harassing the ‘potential’ sponsors after our match.
