Gor Mahia vs Kisumu All Stars postponed

The much anticipated match between Gor Mahia and newly promoted Kisumu All Stars, that was scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed because Gor Mahia have three players participating in the CECAFA club cup.

“We had written to four clubs informing them of the decision to reschedule their matches since the law says a club shouldn’t honour league games if three or more of their players are with the national team. It is only Tusker who informed us that they will continue with their match against Kariobangi Sharks in absence of their players and we have allowed them to proceed with the game,” said KPL CEO Jack Oguda to the Nation

Four Gor Mahia players are in the CECAFA squad: Clifford Miheso, Lawrence Juma, Joash Onyango and Kenneth Muguna

According to the Nation, KPL has since given out revised fixtures which will see the clubs, whose players are not participating in the regional tourney, break officially for holidays on December 16, while those whose matches have been postponed play on December 22 and 29.

Schedules are typically available on the KPL website. But the site is now shut down, another sign that the Kenya Premier League is in dire financial straits.

Two days ago, coach Steve Polack insisted that he was ready to play without the players on national team duty.

“I don’t think we will be affected in any way, they are among our best players but we are ready to continue with our positive run in the league without them,” Polack told goal.com on Monday.

“In fact, none of the players featured against Ulinzi Stars and we played very well, so it is the same thing, I have players in the reserve who will be asked to step up and I know they will do a wonderful job.

“I am not worried at all, I don’t think it should worry the fans too, they must stay focused and keep supporting us. We have a good squad to get worried when we miss three or five regular players.”

The break is an opportunity for the Gor Mahia stakeholders to address the delayed salaries of players and TB. The salaries have not been paid for 4/5 months.

I am curious. What is stopping the club from starting a paybill number as they did in 2014?

@Joe Riaga, paybill No.350100 is very much there but have you heard anybody announce in public how much fans have ever contributed through that number even for a single month? Have the 350100 M-pesa monthly statement been shared or uploaded in Gor Mahia website even for a single month? How is the money used? As a contributor, you need to know the answers to these questions.

I request that any visitor to this wall takes a moment to meditate on these unedited words of one Gor Mahia fan as posted in Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund WhatsApp group:

Now I would like to encourage members of the group, particularly those who joined out of their own choice and those who accepted to be added with understanding of the purpose of the group to kindly make our contributions of whatever amount. Kogalo is our beloved and at this point it is in our hands to make a positive change in the financial affairs of the team. Let us contribute with passion..let us take care of our beloved club. We enjoy when these boys win and entertain us. They give us bragging rights. Let’s include the contributions in our entertainment budget, in the least! 5beers is about 1000/= we spend more in a night in an entertainment joint…especially on a weekend they win…let’s divert some of that to their well being my brothers and sisters. Let’s come together and make a difference. By contributing. Let us be bold in suggesting and pushing for viable changes where need be for the betterment of our beloved club and Kenyan football at large. Let us not be the first ones to cast stones when we know we haven’t done anything right within our means. Together we stand!

Today is Friday partners, its been another long tough week that calls for letting out steam in different ways…let’s consider contributing towards our boys welfare as part of letting out steam. The knowledge that you have taken care of an entire family’s well being somewhere with just a fraction of your hard earned money should bring a level of satisfaction. Together we stand!

Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund is a non-political, cross-cultural group of Gor Mahia F. C. fans worldwide with an objective of mobilizing a sustainable fund to improve the welfare of Gor Mahia F. C. players and coaches.

Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund is a well-thought out project of Gor Mahia F. C. fans and is founded on transparency, accountability and responsiveness (three core values that are so hard to find in our society today). GMAF seeks to fill the gap that has existed between Gor Mahia F. C. management and fans who wish to support the club financially, but also need to see how that money is accounted for and the difference it is bringing to the club.

Mission: To be an affiliate of Gor Mahia football club that will innovate strategies for financial stability and consolidate a stable, responsible fan-base.

Vision: A model fund that will strengthen and elevate Gor Mahia to become the leading football club in Africa.

The Fund targets to reach at least 25000 K’Ogalo supporters who can contribute 200/- annual membership fee and then 125/- per month or 1700/- per year. The money will enable Gor Mahia to pay salaries and medical insurance for the players.

F.C. Barcelona, which is one of the most successful football clubs in the world operates under the same model. Barcelona has 155000 fans who pay 140 Euros (KES 15,820) per year. This totals to about KES 2.3 Billion annually.

K’Ogalo fans, let us join hands and be the sponsors of our club. Join Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund and together we can raise our support for Gor Mahia F. C. to a higher level.

With Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund, you pay only 200/- annual membership fee and 125/- per month. All the money goes to:
    1. Pay the players’ salaries.
    2. Pay NSSF and NHIF for our players.
    3. Finance Gor Mahia’s signing of the best players in Africa.

GMAF Caring for K’Ogalo Boldly, Transparently and Directly

Our appeal is for all to join us as we work towards stabilizing our great football club. Let GMAF be the glue that will stick all arms of K’Ogalo together into one cohesive unit. If doubters can for once give GMAF the benefit of doubt and accord maximum co-operation, the winner will ultimately be Gor Mahia F.C.

We thank God that through Gor Mahia Augmentin Fund, fans are now giving and so far contributions have come from as far as Uganda, USA and Italy. Thanks to GMAF, K’Ogalo is richer today by some KES 101,000.00, 20 days after initiation of the project.
