Gor Mahia woes continue

Courtesy of futaa.com

Kenyan Premier League 2011 champions Tusker FC jumped back to title contention in style after staging a strong comeback to beat Gor Mahia 2-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium Wednesday evening.

Gor’s flying start

Gor Mahia started on a high with their speedy forwards pushing hard on the Brewer’s goal for an early goal but the Breweres defenders came in handy to clear the always eminent danger.

Tusker received their first booking early in the match when Jerry Santo used a high boot as Gor Mahia persisted in their attacks.

Former Tusker forward and their last season top scorer George Midenyo proved a thorn in the flesh of his former team but was stopped on several occasions.

Tusker’s return

Kasaya was forced to his first flying save of the match from a Peter Opiyo free kick in the 25th minute letting it roll outside for a corner.

Tusker slowly started to gain possession in the match with Gor’s Ngwa and Tusker’s Mukaisi looking dangerous on either ends.

The Brewers were at it yet again in the 40th minute with Kasaya being forced to a frantic save from a Joseph Emeka gasping header from close range after great work by Patrick Kagogo.

second half

The Brewers staged a strong show in the second half with Kagogo and Kitawi making runs from the midfield into the Gor Mahia half.

They however received a second booking in the 51st minute after Joakins Atudo brought down Gor’s Ali Abondo in the midfield.

Goals

Atundo made up for his previous mishap 14 minutes later when he headed in from close range after a superbly taken corner kick to put Tusker ahead of the game.

Patrick Kagogo then ensured that the KPL champions stretched the lead 10 minutes later when his thunderous left-foot shot from the right flank rolled under Wycliff Kasaya for a second.

Changes

Gor mahia strengthened their attack bringing in Moses Odhiambo, Kevin Omondi, Rama Salim in for George Midenyo, Ali Abondo and Ibrahim Kitawi.

This however was well marked by Tusker FC who also brought in Paul Were for Mukaisi, Fred Ajwanga for Kagogo and managed to maintain their lead to full time.

The win pushes Tusker to the third spot with 10 points one behind second placed Sofapaka and three behind leaders AFC Leopards who are currently on a roll.

Gor Mahia remain in 14th slot with three points same as Nairobi City Stars and two ahead of bottom placed Mathare United.

We have been saying about playing attractive and better all thru. This only gives incentives to other teams knowing they got a chance to beat Gor. Its called Psych war. Gone are the days when this name sent shivers down opponents nerves. Our strikers are not up to scratch. Not even a goal? Aaaah! Ingwe here we come really?

If you support Gor Mahia then this is the time to show that support even much more than before. This is the time to stand or die with the team. Do not be discouraged Kogalo fraternity. It is 450 minutes without hitting the back of the net, but that does not mean the goals will not come. The team is improving.

Pamzo has just conceded that he was surprised by Gor’s strength in the first half. JBO feels that the defence got carried away with their 1st half performance and became overconfident in 2nd half.

Just hang in there guys. They say Kifo cha wengi ni harusi…No one is alone in this pain. We are building a great team and it is just a matter of time before we unleash our might. May we all stand firmly with the team and continue to appreciate the technical bench.

Lets drop the blue uniform its the bad omen to us. Good display but lack of concentration in both mid field and defense cost as the game. When tusker increased their defensive mid field to 2 players we were out numbered up front and substitution for ali abondo and kitawi was eminent by the 60th min of the game. Lack of strategy especially on crosses in that we have short players against tall defenders yet we bring aerial calls to likes of kitawi against sikokoti. Ai yawa I pray we beat ingwe on sunday. When is LAVASTA & DEMONDE comming back to the squad? My kogalo blood

  • What a game………….! The boys played fantastic football only that they were unable to score. We were tactically superior only that Tusker managed to utilize the two chances they got and they beat us two nil. All departments have improved except for the strikers. We lack a lethal striker who can torment an opponent defence and score at any angle. Otherwise LETE INGWE this is a different team WATAKIONA………………!

Kudos to the handful of fans who remained behind sang the kogallo anthem, applauded the players as they walked from the pitch to the dressing room, applauded ‘sir bobby’,(as JBO is now being reffered to)then together we sang ‘kogallo wan wagoni ero kamano (thank you gor mahia). Thanks also to the fans on the russian side who kept on singing their hearts out even at 2-0.
Thank you also to the fans here who are showing unequivocal and unconditional support to the team.Thats’ the way to go.As someone says, now, more than ever is the time to stand with the team.
Looking forward to the ‘in-laws’ derby on sunday. We shall support gnr mahia to the final whistle regardless of the results. For there is only one GOR,there is only one GOR MAHIA!

I also thank the fans for your commitment and for the first time no negative comment….. we’ll come back let us keep praying God will never foresake us.
I do believe we only face these trials to help us see our weaknesses so that we can built our future. Tusife moyo.

THESE FANS HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST DRAG-DOWNS IN THE NAME OF FOOTBALL. its like playing with a knife on your neck. i’ve always wondered how many of these fans work under similar conditions. football is about winning and loosing unless ur barcelona. these “coaches” will alwys demand mbona “mbona nani hachezi”. under such circumstances even “nani” will not do much. the gor coaches have never worked independently and obviously never gelled with the team. let “bobby” do his work. these “adidas”guys by nxt week will be out slapping the gor coach.wasn’t sammy omollo once the gor coach, yet he is defending the league and now beaten gor 2-0.the only reason i would vouch for a european coach is that they work independently.unfortunately gor mahia support is merely a fashion and at the moment the “adidas squad has put paid to that.a person who can wear a fake adidas shirt yet his club is sponsored by leagea, saying that he is protesting the price…, this pretty much underlines their understanding of circumstances.who selected the “office” that negotiated the deal? loosing has nothing to do with gor wearing blue, green, yellow or purple. the gor colours since i have known way back in 1979 are green, blue and white. a club must have its colors. the so called gor fan is more of a BOIL to the club at the moment.

We lost a match we should have won in the first half.nice game but immediately we conceded the first goal it became evident that we were struggling to keep the ball.
The team should learn to score in the first half since any kind of comeback seem to be impossible by the team.
It is always hard to play 4 4 2 while a stromg opponent like tusker plays 4 5 1 as they did in the second half.it’s better we loose now and rectify our mistakes than later in the season.
This lose will not stop us from winning the derby come sunday.

we still will be mayienga….But my only worry is that if i can recall REAL MADRID, they changed the whole team and that didnt work well for them for many years until the special one came in.What he did was that he didnt overhaul the entire team like we saw jana at nyayo but built a team with what he had , gradually assesing individual capabilities and replacing as time went by.that way he maintained consistency and now real are up there.Personally i think the team played well but the formation doesnt suit us and bringing in new lads at a go wount help our cause either..makori, okumu, lavasta, wekesa, anguyo ivan had jelled and this worked

  • . . . . .the team cannot posses the ball for 2 minutes! Again, our passes are inaccurate as they can get, guys, the team should get back to basics as Chelsea did over the past 3 matches, without basics, the team will go nowhere,. . . . .in fact there is a looming problem that is about to fall on our head: soon the team will not be able to pay players’ wages simply because fans have started running away from the field due to a series of losses,, did you see fans run away from the stadium yesterday? how empty was the pitch? . .problems are getting even deeper so as fans let’s brace ourselves for hard times to follow.

I think its high time the ‘plastic funs’ left. Those who are there when in glory and disappear during the hard times. If you cant see an improvement and desire in those boys out there then certainly you will never appreciate them. If your Rome was built in a day then go ahead and criticize. When you create chances like we did yesterday there is hope.
Lessons: the Arsenal you see in 4th place today were exactly where Gor are at the beginning of the season- the plastic funs are even back supporting them!

We only talk of light because there is also darkness. The two always interchange. After this dark period , there can only be light.

As i stated earlier, let us first accept that we last won in 1995 and we have work to do. Let us not overreact when we lose. I’m happy many followers enjoyed the game. That’s the spirit. We were facing the champions, and obviously there is something they did that we should do.

So what did Tusker do? They came in to soak the pressure and hit us on the break later. Why? Pamzo, just like most of us must be aware that we have good but weak midfielders. This was the exact strategy of Muhoroni Youth and the exact strategy of Karuturi. How many games have we seen them tire to the point of giving away balls freely.

Truth be told, for the past two seasons, we haven’t had a dominant midfield. One that dominates for 90minutes. That is our Achilles heel. We will keep on changing strikers but the simple truth is that world over most strikers need 10 good balls upfront in order to score 1 goal. Dow we remember Etoo in Barcelona. He would miss so many but still get that one goal.

For the team, get back to work. We are with you.

  • As far as i know this was the best display this season. The hunger and the technique was there for all to see and i can say without a shred of doubt we are heading to the levels of 2010. The goals were lucky goals which i blame the defence for exposing the keeper. The purpose of wingbacks is to prevent cross balls at all cost which something the coach should work on. Collins omondi played well but please coach work on his crosses they were either short or blocked. Nasio gave Kagogo too much space to work magic no wonder he was the man of the match. The boys should never be discouraged by the opponents scoring coz teams recover and win see what Arsenal did and locally AFC. The first goal killed there moral and good passing stopped. Please guys (players) never ever be discouraged rather trust in God to pull you through coz nothing is impossible with HIM. Now fast forward and AFC game beckons and i hereby swear my loyalty to the team and victory against AFC is eminent. Amen and to God be the glory.

THAT IS WHAT I SAID AND I WILL NOT SHY OFF NO MATTER WHAT YOU CALL IT

It is very simply and clear the “SPIRITS” or rather “JUOGI” in LUO language has refused to respond. You can not be ridding on a legend name and hoping for the best outcome without appreciating who he was and what he stood for. It is wishful thinking to brag in the name of GOR wuod OGADA mako OGALO and yet you have the guts of saying that let the “DEAD belong to the DEAD”.

Hiyo ni kichapo cha pepo mbaya !!!…….Na Bado !!!!!………

Whether you like or not GOR MAHIA problems can not be sorted in a church or mosque.

For those of us who claim to be Christians please be informed that you can not delete the book of GENESIS from the BIBLE as much as JESUS is the KING of KINGS.

The same case applies to K’OGALO misfortunes at the moment. We can not solve them with our fat wallets, religious faiths ,the glittering academic credentials or within the board room of expensive offices. JUST FORGET IT!!!! IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AT ALL.

Muslims pay their tribute by obeying their pilgrimage to Mecca (The Hajj) being one the five pillars of Islam. Is that “JUJU” Jo Ka Nyanam?
Christians pilgrimage tours look at ISRAEL as messianic and holy land .Even catholic popes look at israel through the eyes of Christian pilgrimage. Is that “JUJU” Nyikwa Ramogi?

We can not call historical facts “RESEARCH” or “WHITCHCRAFT” or “INFIDELITY” and for heaven sake it took quite some thinking and understanding of the late Tom Mboya to be agreeable to the proposal of naming “GOR MAHIA F.C”.

What I have been advocating for is that we should appreciate that the name is synonym with “SOUL and SPIRIT” of a person who was so mysterious within the community and as such we can not wish him away as the so called “JO YALO” in this blog would want.

There is a JARAMOGI O.O foundation built in Nyamira Kango in BONDO to honor the late doyen king of opposition politics in kenya ,we have a library being built in Koru to honor the Robert Ouko, What is wrong with appreciating K.’Ogalo for the sake our football club or that will be practicing “JUJU”. What do you celebrate in GOR the person a part from football?
We are cursed and doomed because of our shallow and myopic thinking capacity that can not see yonder beyond our nose or rather “OUTSIDE THE BOX.
The club performance on the pitch reflects the inner feeling of spirits that are not in the same wavelength and at home with both the players and this generation of confused fans.
How do your wear a jersey for GOR MAHIA and then at the back you write those stupid nonsense that has nothing to do with the club. Are you not promoting stupidity. Style up guys! Or you thing the owner of the name is dead that he will not tell no tale.

Barcelona call themselves the catalans and they respect the catalonians culture in the club.
Real Madrid call themselves the matadors and they respect their bull fighting culture in the club. Where do you think the name GOR MAHONO was derived from if not from the owner.

I salute brother Pareyio ole Lerue my comrade on this blog from the land of MAA for having the plan to visit KA NYAMWA and KOGELO for very good reasons and not like you quacks who do not see the sense in appreciating our cultures. You are the main disgrace to this club and the earlier you style up the better it will be for us to receive good results.

Ndugu Pareyio you will not regret your trip to JO NDHIWA. You can access the place from Rongo,Homa Bay,Mbita via Road C20 if you are driving. You will enjoy RUMA national park that is located alone LAMBWE valley within Kanyamwa escarpment south east of GWASi. You will visit KOR LANGO picnic site where your great warrior from Rift valley used to be dumped by colonialist . There are all kinds Girrafes,Antelops,Birds ,impala, water buffaloes, collection of the birds spices and tthe cats families worth for a game drive and lastly there is ORIBI guest worth for unique self catering and ideal place for team building, meditation, picnic and there you will find historians collection for GOR K’Ogalo. That is what I mean by the team identifying its self with the respective culture.

great performance from Gor yesterday evening tho defensive lapses of concentration made us pay d price…at least the team is improving, there is a great desire to do well from the players i cant question that….what impressed me is that we could create some chances but we just need to be clinical in front of goal which the strikers r not very far from, midenyo did hit the cross bar yesterday, very soon we will start scoring n we never know what will happen on sunday, coz the players will be psyched up and will rise to the occassion (it wont be an easy walk in the park for AFC)….from my point of view the team will pick up soon lets be patient people…i was not impressed to see some fans jetting out of the stadium immediately the second goal went in i guess this is the time to show ua love & full support to the team. Football points are not awarded on sleek passing and romantic display. “The special one” worked well with boring football in EPL and won the league in England, we cant condone school boy mistakes in the playing unit like it happened jana. Atudo sneeked from the Tusker defence unmarked to head in a goal that a study deference shouldn’t concede, Then a silly defensive error gifts Tusker a second one and The entire KOGALLO playing unit is shredded in to pieces

Hata kama tunajipa moyo – HAPANA!! Lets call a spade a spade, At 60min Ali Abondo,Midenyo were off color and were hugely ineffective. Am still lost of words 2 explain why Boby could not read the game 2 make tactical changes in the team, at this time Tusker had introduced Paul Were the game had changed significantly. Y did the technical bench wait untimely it was too late to salvage even a point?

I think Baldwin Ngwa is good physically, has pace and can last 90min without tiring. He should be paired with Hugo Nzoka or Lavasta who is creative, Play Makori on the left wing and Moses Odhiambo should substitute Kitawi at least 30mins to full time. This forward i can bet anything under the sun that it can deliver goals or what do u think guys.

Otherwise , Ingwe will make minced meat of KOGALLO in the derby!!! Too l hard to phantom.

Allan Wanga is on Fire, Mike Baraza is an efficient goal poacher, so the Gor defence ,must be alert to contain them 4 98min or else we will leave the game with rotten eggs on our faces!!!!

  • Well-done boys. That level of performance gladdens the heart. I can authoritatively predict a win for Gor Mahia on SUNDAY. The football gods will smile on us this Sunday. My advice to thse fond of trying to sound both technically and tactically ASTUTE: “you look BAD and WANTING whn you try so hard to sound RELEVANT, AWARE and INFORMATIVE while you are not.” All and sundry knws that our midfield, when well selected and fielded is the best in this country presently. Gattuso, Rama, Teddy, Moses, Abondo, Kevo, Kevin Ochieng and Makori are class apart from their contemporaries. Tusker knew this and they did well to by-pass our mid-field by playing long and high balls to their strikers. For your information, we conceded a set-piece goal not as a result of our mid-field or defence being weak. Our defensive play was efficient and magnificient yesterday, especially Owino and C. Omondi. Tusker had to withdraw Mukaisi and Emeka bcos they were overwhelmed by the attention paid to them by our defenders. Our players just need to learn to concentrate and to apply themselves until the final whistle. The first goal was conceded due to a drop in concentration by the whole team. Atudo stole from the blind side as noone was paying any particular attention to him. Our mistake was using zonal marking at corner-kicks instead of man-marking. This MUST be corrected immediately. Our central defenders and any big and tall players must at all times take on the most dangerous and tall players during corner-kicks. The goalkeeper (KASAYA) MUST stop being FLASHY and SHOWY and concentrate on his job of tending the goal. His performances of yesterday was good but ridden wth errors. He MUST learn and fast so, to dominate his penalty area at all times. His committment especially at corners is WANTING. As the final line of defence, he MUST knw that alot depends on him, more so his defenders. Defenders perform better when they have a reliable goalkeeper behind them. Look at Szesceny at Arsenal, look at Casillas at Real Madrid. The defènces of these teams have improved tremendously bcos of their goalkeepers. Finally, the players MUST learn to have self belief especially when they concede first. Heads MUST not drop and we must continue driving forward in search of the equalizer at all cost. For this, I wnt to thank Gattuso, Owino and Ngwa for their spirit EPITOMISES the true spirit of Gor Mahia. Well-done boys. WE SHALL OVERCOME SOMEDAY. Good luck team Gor Mahia in your up-coming assignments.

  • You call him Sir Bobby and i agree Sir Bobby it is he was there during the glory days, the Six Million Dollar-man,those who saw him will tell you that he was to be a master tactician after his glory day days were over ,he belongs to the glory days of Gor Mahia, those who know the real nickname of gor mahia will tell its ‘Mighty Gor’ on 6/12/1987 it was the headline of the daily nation newspaper.Give Bobby a chance not two years but four years and he will build a team.for country and club.

Congratulations Tusker for the win. You really gave us a run for our money.

As i stated elsewhere on this blog, Tusker were the favorites and the they’ve proved it. I must also commend our boys for playing a good game, unfortunately we lost it to Tusker. The ad hoc technical team started in the wrong footing though I strongly believe things will look up sooner than later. Let us remain unbowed despite the poor run K’Ogalo is currently undergoing.

May I salute the section of our fans who remained behind to give our boys a standing ovation after the match. You are the true patriots of this great club. To comrade O. Jabilo, thanks for your kind gesture. However I must tell you K’Ogalo is a secular club. We don’t subscribe to a particular religion. I am a Christian and you are a traditionalist who share a common tie. We belong to the great and most successful club in East Africa- K’Ogalo.

How time flies! There are only three days left to the D-Day. Gilbert Sselebwa, a former AFC Leopards, talking to Radio Jambo said Sunday clash between the arch rivals can be a turning point for any of the team. I agree with him 100%. we can afford to loose to Muhoroni Youth, Ferroviario de Maputo, Tusker but not to Ingwe. I know the boys are already psyched for this game. What remains is for us to paint Nyayo green. We want to cage the Leopard and translocate it to somewhere in Western and release to the wild.

Guys, Jabilo is just expressing his affection to culture. Lets not slaughter him. We all have some traditional background whether we were raised in town or countryside. I guess he means we should appreciate our cultures. Just after Koops took over at Leopards he was taken to Mumias and made to learn about the traditions of Luhya and its Kingdom in Nabongo Mumia. Its from here he appreciated what is expected of him and he felt appreciated by being given the name Wepukhuju. Is there a problem with that? Lets not rubbish every one with some divergent views.

even in the top footballin nations in the world top clubs do av a deep in form or their strikers suffer from goal drought…lets us do all we can in boostin our players morale instead of namecallin n putting pressure on them n the bench by demanding substitutions when the play is on just bcos one has done a mistake or SEEMS not to b playin to our expectations..i didnt like the attitude of our fans who started insulted jerry when warming up after kasaya was injured..Lets treat our players with respect..they r OUR PLAYERS!!THEY R US N WE R THEM!!!LONG LIVE KOGALO!

My experiences with Derbies they know no form! Even when a team is on top form, the result is not predictable. This happens the world over, what happened to Everton just the other day. Were they not on form. So if you are thinking Ingwe winning is done and dusted think twice. We will meet at nyayo on match day!! yaliyo baki ni porojo tu!

Well it will not be that easy to beat AFC on sunday let be realistic, and i hope we win but a draw will be better thank a loss. I think it will take us about another 3 or 4 games before we can start winning on a regular basis.we dont have goal scorers at gor Afc has 3 of them wanga, baraza and victor ochieng. Our back line is not that good same as Afc back line but Afc have only conceded 1 goal while we have conceded 8. These are facts. I hope we Draw on sunday. a win will be iceing on the cake.

The best thing for Gor is for rachier to leave instead of sacking others he is the cause of kogallos problems
