Gor Mahia’s options for June transfer season
Gor Mahia will be looking for options to sharpen their attack which has been blunt during the June transfer season. However club official Ronald Ngala has ruled out signing any foreign players.
“We cannot sign any foreign players in June. We already have five foreigners and the only way we can add a foreign player to our squad is by releasing one of the five we have. Right now we do not have plans of axing any of the foreigners which means we will only sign local players in June” said Ngala to futaa.com
Former club striker Meddie Kagere has been training with the team at Camp Toyoyo and rumours have surfaced that he could return to the club in June. But the club already has five foreigners which is the KPL lilmit. The five are Karim Nizigiyimana, Jacques Tuyisenge, Abouba Sibomana, Khalid Aucho and Geoffrey Walusimbi.
Ultimately however, it is up to coach Ze Maria to determine whether keeping the current set of foreigners is more important than finding a fit and sharp striker who can put the ball in the net regularly. So Kagere could very well convince the coach.
Another option that has been discussed is to recall in form striker Timothy Otieno. A club official mentioned this as a likely possibility.
“It was the former coach Frank Nuttall, who did not give Timothy Otieno a chance to play. He is a very good striker as we have already seen and we intend to recall him during the June transfer window.” said an official to goal.com
Still it is difficult to understand how Nuttall would have selected Otieno ahead of Michael Olunga or Meddie Kagere.
Otieno has been in form and was named KPL player of the month in March. He is currently among the leagues leading scorers.
But Otieno appears to be liking his time at Rangers.
“I feel good as a player because, as you all know, I didn’t get any playing time from where I moved (Gor Mahia) so I take this time to thank my team-mates and the coach (Zedekiah Otieno) who believed in me to allow me showcase what I have; and you can see that within the first two months I have emerged the best player. I think this season is mine, ” he said to futaa.com last week.
New coach Ze Maria will need to do a lot of convincing for Otieno to seriously consider returning.

Ngala you are very clueless on managing club affairs. I know you have been building a mansion in Choka Estate with monies collected from the club. Kilo is also not an exemption from corrupt deals and stealing from all means.
If I were you and Kilo, I would have resigned several months ago. You are some of the officials that have been fleecing the club dry through all initiatives that include gate collections, unofficial sale of merchadises, unofficial receipts of gate collections and monies from wellwishers that can’t be accounted for.
We are waiting for you during the AGM to teach you a very bitter lessons by voting out of the club administration.

This Ngala never stops amazing.In June offload non performing foreign and local and get Kagere and Ernest Sugira.Surely fellow bloggers when a senior Gor official talks of not signing foreigners yet we can offload others is treason.I think he barely watches Gor matches.

Timothy otieni no no. We need world class striker. Kagere, johana, Antony kimani, or any other lethal striker will be needed soon if this club is to go far. Kindly Kill to be more serious with his work but it is wrong to point out on someone’s personal development as I see some of us are doing here. If kilo is building a mansion in choka does not mean that it is a corrupt money from the club. He earns salary and he can use it to do that. Let’s be careful in what we say and we should stop hatreds.

There are players who can play Abouba”s place. We saw it when Gor played bandari. We have a player who can play Aucho’s place. We saw Eric fill it properly the day Aucho got injured. I believe we have a player who can play the position of Walusimbi-Remember all the three are nursing injuries. OFFLOAD THEM ,INCLUDING Berry,Kelli Murai and Agwanda. I was forgetting Shakava
Erick has not played this season and cannot fill Aucho’s shoes in a million lifetimes
Bear with me the fact that today, Gor has fewer commited and talented players ever. Signings were done based on kinship with little regards to the expected output. Gor went hunting for a striker but the EC brought in a Jacob Kelly. Gor needed to retain Kagere but they opted to retain an Aucho.
Am not worried at the fact that most of the players implicated in the crime of underperformance and indiscipline form bulk of the first 11. Am worried about the fact that June will come and pass but the current crop of EC favourites will be recycled on the pitch. Nothing good comes cheap. Tuyisenge came at an expense but you can see the fruits on the pitch.
Simple advice to Ze Maria: Offload half the playing unit at Gor even for free and replace them with fewer but worthier materials. Bring in Kagere, Johanna, Paul Were, Kimani and Pascal Wawa to bolster that defence. The league won’t be retained with the following still donning the green jersey: Kelly, Blackberry, Shakava, Aucho and Oluoch!
