GorMahia 3 Muhoroni Youth 1

Gor Mahia edged closer to the title when they beat Muhoroni Youth

courtesy of futaa.com

Goals from Ugandan trio of Dan Sserenkuma, Geoffrey Walusimbi and Geoffrey Kizito against Muhoroni Youth ensured that Gor Mahia returned to winning ways and remained on course to retaining the Kenya Premier League title.

Muhoroni had the first chance on goal on the 4th but Daniel Waweru shot wide and two minutes later Akinyemi was put through  on goal but was rightfully  denied by the offside flag.

Gor got their first chance on goal on the 6th minute but Walusimbi’s header went wide over the bar and on the 8th minute Walusimbi put George Odhiambo through on goal but the forward shot wide with only the keeper to beat.

Goals

Gor took the lead on the 22nd minute through Geoffrey Walusimbi after a quick counter attack involving George Odhiambo, Walusimbi and Dan Sserenkuma with the later claiming the assist. The lead lasted for seven minutes as the home side drew level on the 29th minute when Enos Ochieng  beat Jerry Onyango on K’Ogalo goal with a calm finish after being put through by Ronald Otieno leaving Gor Mahia defenders who had adjudged that Ochieng was offside,  red-faced.

Kizito goal

An error by Muhoroni Youth keeper after 43 minutes of play resulted to an indirect free kick for Gor Mahia inside the Muhoroni Youth penalty  box which Gor Mahia capitalized on to restore their lead.  Geoffrey Kizito curled the ball into the top left corner after a touch by Walusimbi. The teams left for a breather with Gor Mahia leading.

First Sub

Gor made their first change of the match after the break, with Timothy Otieno being rested for Eric Ochieng. Muhoroni Youth withdrew the visibly exhausted Akinyemi on the   50th minute for Michael Khaduli.

Gor’s third goal

Gor got the third goal from the run of play when Dan Sserenkuma latched into a through ball from Erick Ochieng to score his 15th goal of the season. The goal seemed to have dashed Muhoroni’s hopes of a comeback with Gor knocking the ball around their after and held on to claim all the three points.

Gor is at the summit of the league table with 57 points one ahead of the closest title rivals Sofapaka. They face Ushuru FC in their last game of the season.

I think it’s too early to celebrate. Ushuru will come to us with nothing to lose but to enjoy themselves and frustrate us. Definitely our players will feel the heat due to what happened last time. Of late what I have noticed is that Jerry, Calabar and Shakava are not communicating well, rendering our defence shaky. I hope on that day they will not let us down.
By the way Kizito got a yellow card. Is it his fifth? II hope not. If so we will miss him dearly when we needed him most.

Gormahia.net please contribute towards the initiative to motivate the team. Guys is this blog worth only KES 17000/-? This is our time gentlemen. Have no second thoughts about the undertaking because the whole thing is sincere and above board. Just give guys. Give in appreciation of the sacrifice these boys have made despite all odds.

It is not over until it is over. Gor mahia should remember that remember that in 2012 season, they were in this similar position, they had gone for about 20 games unbeaten,on the last game at city stadium we needed a win against Thika united to lift the trophy,I remember we came in numbers,we left disapointed,we drew n that’s how the trophy went to tusker. Let the players be told all they need to be told to secure the win against ushuru, this win and lifting the cup this season means alot

Even if we do not retain the title I will not complain bcos that is posible. Its only team k’ogalo that’ve bn consistence thru’ out. Let us not put too much pressure on players bcos I believe they also want to win the title for themselves. Players like Shakava need this trophy for their CV.K’ogalo forever, with or without trophy

@Pmawego- As promised I’ve perused your article “Pmawego posted on October 22, 2014” and surely I find don’t see where the problem is.

A cooperative has nothing to do with socialism but rather a group of people coming together to raise capital for a common goal which would not have been possible if they acted individually.
    See below:
The cooperative movement in Kenya is one of the nationally organized institutions available for all cadres of persons. Its agenda is usually based on locally determined proposals whose aims are to empower citizens to realize their socio-cultural and economic capacities using locally available/generated resources.

It is believed that people within a specific geographical or institutional locality have similar perceptions about how to resolve common issues in their lives. Often, cooperative societies bring together various classes of people regardless of their socio-economic status and their agenda would be only-to share ideas, suggest and implement viable practices that are likely to bring development and uplift economic status of members.

The various forums they organize for education purposes are often devoid of political, ideological or socio-cultural emotivism that may derail focus.

As regards your concern expressed herein that “if you want to know, think of how long TP Mazembe will last the moment the bank roller exits!!! Enyimba in Nigeria lasted as long as the Governor of Rivers state was in power. THIS IS WHAT I CALL SOCIALISM”.

The GM Sacco will be a separate legal entity with a life of its own. This was a point already well-articulated in what you dismissed as “copy & paste” articles by Mwakio P. However here are examples of organizations based on co-operative principles holding their own in the “capitalist” world.

1.Cooperative Bank was formed by cooperators in 1965. It is the fourth largest bank by asset base with a branch network of over 90 branches, a customer base of 2.3 million and is over 80 per cent owned by the cooperative movement. The bank is providing a “one-stop-shop” for financial services and hence has three subsidiaries providing stock broking services, fund management and capacity building and corporate advisory services.
2.CIC Group Limited is one of the highest capitalized insurance companies in Kenya, with a premium income of Kshs4.5 billion in 2010 and is ranked 3rd on pro?tability, and is similarly owned and managed by the cooperative movement.
3.Cooperative College of Kenya is the premier training facility for provision of cooperative education and training. It recently received a charter to become a university.

You state “This GM Company will be in the business of generating revenues from gate collections, sponsors, merchandises etc and sorting out player welfare then paying dividends at the end of the day. So, when I put my money, I expect it to generate more while at the same time ensuring players are well taken care of and there is money in my pocket as dividends”.

These can also be achieved by the GM Sacco/Cooperative moreso since it will be a separate legal entity with adequate financial resources to protect its assets and even acquire a stadium whose financial benefits I had expounded in an earlier article. I admire your concern for our players welfare and imagine these players can even be members of the cooperative.

ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS ADHERING TO THE SIMPLE PRINCIPLE OF ENSURING THE YOUR EXPENSES DON’T EXCEED YOUR REVENUES AND DIVIDENDS WILL NATURALLY FOLLOW.

The so called “money in your pocket” can also take the form of savings from discounted prices rates offered to only shareholders of GM company/sacco on match tickets & merchandise.
For me the distinct advantage is that in a cooperative, members can make affordable monthly contributions hence provide a sustainable income base for their common goal.

A cooperative can start with a small group of persons who have belief and dedication to their “common goal” and once it’s a success story of course more will want to join. Here is where the pioneers can reap the benefits of their initial investment.
Like I said a monthly contribution of shs.300/500each from a base of 12,000 will raise kshs.3.6m or 6m per or kshs.43.2m/72m per year.

And to tackle hooliganism GM company/sacco members should have their own vantaged sitting areas during home matches, be privileged in ticket purchase and entry into the stadium so we can see whether person who have invested in their can be hooligans

ATTACH TANGIBLE BENEFITS TO GM MEMBERSHIP AND YOU WILL SEE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE UPTAKE OF MEMBERSHIP. MEMBERSHIP WILL BE A RESPECTABLE % OF THE CROWDS THAT ATTEND MATCHES.

A company usually raises capital once (through a share offer) and this is quite a challenge since there are minimum shares to be taken up which may beyond the reach of many. If the initial offer does not meet the required target its difficult to get shareholders to contribute again

Lastly and most importantly Pmawego it does not matter whether its GM Sacco or GM Company but that the GM fraternity opt for a whichever vehicle can best achieve the common goals you’ve enumerated so well.

Congrats for the win apart for the loss against SP I’ve noted the 3 goals habit.
Asante team and the 3 Sseboteers.
We’ll need to retain and beef up this squad. Time to think is now.

Thank you michael odhiambo… thats the spirit.. financial crisis, players leaving, the coach left… yet we have still come through… whether we finish 2nd or 1st… the club has made us proud… Nutall needs motivational skills now more than ever.. he needs to tell the boys that they’ve already done a good job whether they win or not… he simply needs to tell them that they need tp enjoy the game and entertain the fans. Anything short or telling them its a must win will only take us back to the diasppointment of 2seasons ago where the tension from players to the fans was unbearable.

Coming to think of it, its better for Tusker to be awarded the 3points vs muhoroni hahahaha

Looking at the log i find that Tuskers lig ended today with a draw against Thika. They cannot rise beyond Sofapaka even with a win and i know they will not want to spoil for Sofapaka especially now that their fate is clearly decided.
The way things have transpired, its only victory against Ushuru on saturday that will give us the title.
I was surprised to hear some leopard fans say that they did not regret losing to Sofapaka simply because they do not want us to win it again.
    God will see us through.

The truth is that no team Ingwe, Tusker, maybe KRA etc wants us to win the trophy. This means then odds are stacked against us but from the time I started watching and supporting Gor they have done miracles against all odds. Who knew that we would reach the finals of two Africa Cups? Who knew that we would give Zamalek a run for their money in Cairo or go to Khatoum with a depleted squad but come back winners. I believe this is what will drive us to the TPL summit. The other thing is that the crop of players we have know what happened in November 2012 and need to improve their CV. Let’s keep focus but knowing that anything is posible though we pray for a positive result which i know we will get come saturday

As siad by @Tom Ochieng we need to humble ourselves as we approach this definitive time. Chest thumping can come to haunt us again. I still remember Rama crying unconsolably after the Thika fiasco. We even had T-shirts for the 2013 Champs.
That was a geat lesson which we should have learnt. But all the same i’m optimistic that we will not have a major challenge passing this particular hurdle.
