GoTV Shield: Gor Mahia take on Bandari next

After having easily sidelined Nairobi Water in the round of 64, Gor Mahia will now face a sterner test as they take on Bandari in the round of 32 of the 2017 GoTV Shield.

Bandari have not been an easy team for Kogalo. This season, Kogalo beat Bandari 2-1 at Mbaraki on April 26. However last season, Bandari opened their campaign by beating a troubled Gor Mahia side in the Supercup.

Bandari will be without former Kogalo stalwart Dan Sserunkuma who has left for Morocco. However they can still count of the experience of players like Edwin Lavatsa, Enock Agwanda, Felly Mulumba and Shaban Kenga.

Kogalo last lifted this trophy in 2012.

  • Just a observation!
Why are top teams being pitted against each other at this early stage.

    Gor Mahia to face Bandari
    Ulinzi Stars Vs SoNy Sugar
    Sofapaka Vs Western Stima

    Is there no seeding?
This denies some of the lower tier teams the much desired matches against the top teams together with the accompanying financial windfall.

KENYA: GOR MAHIA WIN THE AFRICAN CUP-WINNERS’ CUP FOLLOWING A 1-1 DRAW WITH ESPERANCE

Kenya Gor Mahia won the African Cup Winner’s Cup on December 5,1987 with a 1-1 draw in the second leg against Esperance of Tunisia in Nairobi. The teams had drawn 202 in the first leg of the final two weeks previously in Tunisia. Gor Mahia won the trophy- the Nelson Mandela Cup – because away goals count double in the event of a tie. The Moi International Sports Complex was packed with a crowd of 60,000 for the match.

HOW DO WE RECLAIM BACK OUR LOST GLORY?

TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY BY THE EC IS KEY TO GMFC’S SUCCESS.

LIKE CEASAR’S WFE, EC MUST BE “ABOVE SUSPICION. WHILE WE YEARN FOR THE SUCCESS OF YESTER YEARS NOBODY IS WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE TO AN OPAQUE INSTITUTION.

I URGE GMFC STAKEHOLDERS TO PULL TOGETHER AND BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS.

I like Oduor12’s passion for the club. We need to move this club forward. After almost 50 years, the club is still being run out of one person’s briefcase.

  • KES 82.5M PER YEAR REVENUE FOR MIGHTY GOR MAHIA!

THAT IS THE POTENTIAL OF GMFC MEMBERSHIP CUM SEASON TICKET. This proposal is solely dependent on EC being 110% accountable and transparent.

“05 DECEMBER 1987 The Moi International Sports Complex was packed with a crowd of 60,000 for the match.”
An annual membership of 25,000 is not even half the crowd on that day. That is the power or allure of winning titles.

GMFC CAN RAISE KES.82.5M FROM A MEMBERSHIP FROM 25,000 MEMBERS ( NOTE A MERE 5,000 MEMBERS CAN RAISE KES.16.5M ANNUALLY)

    BEST CASE SCENARIO.

1.20,000 ORDINARY (RUSSIA) MEMBERS @ MEMBERSHIP CUM SEASON TICKET/CARD OF KES,2,750 WILL RAISE KES.55M

    2. 5,000 VIP MEMBERS @ MEMBERSHIP CUM SEASON TICKET/CARD OF KES.5,500 WILL RAISE KES.27.5M.

    3. EC SHOULD LAUNCH A MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT DRIVE BY DIVIDING KENYA INTO 3 ZONES:
    Eastern counties-001-015,
    Central counties -016-032 and
    Western Counties-033-047.
PLACE EACH ZONE UNDER A COMMITTEE OF OFFICIALS. EACH COMMITTEE IS TARGETED WITH RECRUITING APPROX. 25,000 / 3 I.E 8,333 members from their zones.

In the future let the election to the Executive Committee be based on a persons ability to attract membership and hence funding for the club.
    * Let each member of the EC be appraised during the annual AGM by the number of paid up members each has brought to the club.

We cannot leave GMFC at the mercy of “sponsors” who come and take advantage of our continentally revered brand name to further their interests only to opt out with a 6 month notice.

    4. Counties 001-015- Under Chairman – Ambrose Rachier , Vice Chairman – George Ong’udi, Secretary General – Ben Omondi ,Organizing Secretary – Judith Anyango , CEO Aduda.

Counties 016-032- Under -Senior Vice Chairman – Francis Wasuna ,Deputy Secretary General – Ngala Ronald, Assistant Treasurer – Calvince Okeyo

Counties 033-047- Under -1st Vice Chairman – John Pesa ,Assistant Deputy Secretary General – Kevin Odhiambo, Treasurer – Sally Bolo,Assistant Organizing Secretary – Beryl Peres Anyango.

    5. Allocate the Eastern Zone the GoTV matches to encourage membership uptake. Use the SGR/ Madaraka Express to save to transport costs.

    6. A Gor Mahia card (ATM) or paybill number plus linking the tickets / merchandise to GOMA LOTTA will ensure that fakes are eliminated from this project, encourage greater uptake of membership.

    7. Membership must have special and privileged entry, sitting and enhanced security during matches. This will not only attract more membership hence funding for the club.

TO AMBROSE RACHIER- GOR MAHIA STAKE-HODLERS DO NOT WANT TO WAIT ANOTHER 30+ YEARS TO LIFT ANOTHER CONTINENTAL TROPHY.

GOR MAHIA BELONGS TO US, GOR MAHIA IS ABOUT WINNING TITLES NOT ABOUT GM SACCOS OR GOMA LOTTO.
THESE ARE ONLY VIABLE PROJECTS IF THEY DELIVER TROPHIES INTO GMFC’S CABINET.

FINALLY TO EC AND MORESO JAKOM, PLEASE OPEN UP AND LET’S TAKE GMFC BACK TO WHERE IT BELONGS THE APEX OF AFRICAN SOCCER! COLLECTIVELY WE CAN DO IT IN 2 YEARS BUT INDIVIDUALLY IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN IN MINE OR YOUR LIFETIMES.
