Hassan Oktay confirmed as coach

Gor Mahia have apparently been sufficiently impressed by Hassan Oktay and have confirmed him as head coach. It was previously announced that he would be on a 3-month probation. Oktay was known as a tactical expert despite having only coached at lower tiers in the UK.

The report on goal.com suggests that Oktay has agreed to a 2 year contract. he has been leading training sessions at Camp Toyoyo for the past few days. He will now officially take charge. He will be in charge as Gor Mahia take on Kericho Zoo. His first major assignment is a tall order as Gor Mahia take on Lobi Stars of Nigeria in the first leg second round of the 2018-2019 Africa champions league. He will immediately be tasked with sharpening the blunt striking force that has scored only three goals in the past five games.

Karim Nizigiyimana may return

Burundian right back Karim Nizigiyimana resumed training with Gor Mahia one week after he was axed. He has impressed the technical bench enough that they are considering bringing him back. To make way for him, it has been reported that the Ivorian Ephrem Guikan will go on loan.

Oktay was the only affordable choice so those other 3 wishlist coaches who were coming including Stephen Pollack and Stefano Maccopi and an un-named Russian were the usual GM spin tales. Hassan Oktay Steady the K’Ogalo ship very fast and do something extra ordinary with our technical and tactical formation otherwise if you think continuing with what you found Zico doing will help then you are in for a rude shock. We want clean highly technical passing fluid seamless attacking combination build up from the back high scoring against opponent and cleansheet football starting tomorrow against Zoo kericho. 1-0 scorelines we will complain as we want an average of 3 goals per game Oktay. Tell Aduda you need my strikers on standby or deliver with those you have plus insist they give you Karim Nizigiyimana back immediately and send Guikan or Mustapha on loan so Philemon Otieno can go back to his defensive midfield role. Tell Kahata also to commit hkmself fully to GM or ship out now we get another creative midfielder since muguna is still injured. Me as Jasego Aol gi secho wang’ni karach to rach…

So can someone tell me why Hassan please. Is his CV better than Zicos? Absolutely not. Once again I have to say that the generation of Kenyans born during colonial days (including Rachier) or year’s right after independence were brain washed by the colonial masters to believe that only the mzungu can deliver something good. This is very unfortunately. The EC also specifically said that Hassan was an intern. This by its own is grounds for the Kenyan Government not to issue him a work permit as only “Experts” are issued work permits not “Interns”. Having said that brothers and sisters, I’m sad to let you know that you will not be happy with our results this year. You just watch!

So Hassan has better credentials than Zico? Kenyans born in the era of colonial days (and right after) including Rachier seem to think that the Mzungu is always better than us. This is very unfortunately. The EC clearly said that Hassan was an intern. Looking at his resume, the EC was correct to call him as such. Now here is the problem, work permits are only to be issued to foreign individuals who are EXPERTS in their line of work and not INTERNS. GoK should therefore not approve his application. Having said that, I’m sorry to let you all know that we will give away games; we will be in the company of Mount Kenya huko chini ya table. Ngoja mtaona.

Hassan Oktay holds a Uefa A Pro license coaching certificate..the highest in world football while Zico holds a Uefa C license…So his work permit will be approved as the minimum requirement is that Uefa Category C license and payment of 100k permit fees. Furthermore we were highlighted that you are one impostor called Benson Disi and a pseudo failed commentator masquerading as a Gor Player while having no fixed abode and trying to befriend players who Apana Tambua Wewe…Kaa mbali na K’Ogalo tafadhali

…5 games to guage you. Utilize this transfer window ensuring that you retain/work with players who can run & think at the same time. DO NOT WASTE TIME ON PASSENGERS, BE CAREFUL OF SLAPPERS. MOST IMPORTANTLY THE BUCK STOPS WITH OKTAY, ALL THE BEST.

@Jakoyo, are you a Gor fan or a Zico fanatic? Pessimism will cause you ulcers. Afterall, Gor is just a club and soccer is just a game. The only people who should be bitter to your extent are the players and TB because they earn their living from there. Never heard of an ingwe fan who committed suicide because their team has not won the league for the last 21 years.
So my brother, chill, pray for the team and everything will be OK.

Personally I have just realized that what we are doing here by discussing and abusing the players and TB negatively does not auger well for us. After all, these players are still young and I am sure they read our comments here and for some it really affects them.
Let us encourage even those who are still down. Even us personally doesn’t our morale fall at work, school or even at home when there are so many negative things happening in our lives? At time we reason as if we have perfect lives

This is for those who are panicking coz Oktay has been coaching lower divisions leagues. I remember when Kerr came and it was revealed that he was coaching at academy level abroad, we complained why a ‘kindergarten’ coach could take over Kogallo and predicted doom. The ever wise Jasego then tried to calm our nerves down by reminding us that football abroad, even at lower levels, is still of a higher quality than our higher levels’. His words came to pass n Kerr became Ker (king). On the same note, I also remember us earlier wondering where a P.E. teacher (Nuttal) would take kogallo when he joined. Well, Nutall went on and pulled a fast. So let’s give this Oktay guy about 10 games before we judge him. Jakoyo, PLEASE, the powers that be have settled on Oktay so let go of your push for Zico and give him (Oktay) your support. We are family remember.

Hassan Oktay will come good starting today. Let us all accord him neccessary support for him to prosper. Ofcourse technicians like myself will be there to give him course correction titbits should things not be smooth sailing at initial stages. My assessment as @ Cale rightly pointed out is that youth programs of under 17 and above in Europe are coached at a techically and tactically higher level that our top tier leagues. That is why a SportPesa Allstars Select side lost to a developmental under 17 Hull City team 2-1 few years back while having seasoned veterans chosen across the KPL board. Also Everton largely paraded an under 23 side that beat us 2-1 in TZ at our inaugural SportPesa Supercup final in 2016. When they went a notch higher and paraded their second string side of seniors we were overwhelmed thoroughly. It shall be well with Hassan Oktay

    • @jasego, our biggest problem is high-handedness by EC resulting in deteriorating players/TB welfare, hence squad quality. We’ve lost King David,Akumu, Musa, Ssrenkuma, Olunga, Kagere,Aucho,Kizito replaced by Mustaffas etc that even locals are matching

  • I don’t want to judge the coach because I don’t have the facts. Let me just wish him and the entire bench success in their work.
Confirming him gives him confidence to take charge and perform his duties professionally without being influenced from any quarter and that is what we will use to judge you.

Thanks Sylvester. Even Loga, Nutal and Kerr didn’t come here with the best of CVs but the support they got made them perform even better than those with the papers. Remember when Ze Maria came and we got excited for having a former Selacio as our coach. But we all know what happened

@ dan original and cale cale….I think the purpose for which this forum was formed is for bloggers to critique and appraise in equal measures. Variety is the spice of life, they say ! Surely, expecting praises and motivation talks all the time even when wrong decisions are made is to me, naivity of the highest order.

Let those with nerves of steel, take the criticisms , those who are weak at heart, emotional and naive , take the fake praises and glory and those who dont give a damn about anything, have an option to ignore everything that is posted or not log into this blog.

I remember when we were footballers , many were advised never used to read anything in the media…… thats was the policy and am sure in kogallo, none of the current players and TB officials reads this social media messages nor log into this blog perhaps apart from Kerr who is overly excited with anything about the media.

You are very right Jakoyo on the fact that this blog is for both criticism and praise. Even so, both must be issued only in measured doses. Even in a political election the different electorate have their preferred candidates. Once the elections are over, those who voted for, and those who did not vote for the winner are all supposed to support the winner in order for the ship to move forward. Even Baba himself has finally seen that sense.

In case Oktay okonyalo, I am sure you will have your I told you so moment. But in case he pulls a Nutall/Kerr?
