Kahata wishes Gor Mahia well as he departs

Midfield ace Francis Kahata, who has received numerous offers, most notably from Simba of Tanzania has finally confirmed his imminent departure from Kogalo. Kahata is thankful to the club.

“I believe I have done my job well here at the club together with my teammates. Gor has been like my second home since leaving Thika and I believe that I have given them my best in all those years,”  he said to Nairobi news.

Kahata is confident that the club will continue to thrive.

“I still believe that it is a good team with good players and they are capable of retaining the title in the new season as well and doing well in the Caf competitions,” he continued.

Kahata joined Kogalo in 2015 and has remained among the most consistent players. His play-making skills and his passing skills are the best this club has seen since the club’s revival in 2009.

There have been other midfielders who were better in other aspects such as work rate. But his play-making skills are unparalleled in this era.

Prior to joining Kogalo, Kahata was most synonimous with Thika United where he started his career while in primary school along with Peter Opiyo “Pinchez” in the Thika Youth System. He also had a loan spell in South Africa before proceeding to FC Tirana in 2014 where he played for two seasons.

Kahata has not made a decision on his next destination. At present he is focused on the Africa Nations cup which is kicking off next week and where he is certain to be in the starting line-up.

“It is such an honor being in this squad because there are so many players who were competing. Focus now for me is to do well for the team. It is prestigious being in the AFCON for the first time in 15 years and as a team, we will go out there to do our best,” Kahata said to Capital FM.

Gor Mahia should recruit well while replacing Tuyisenge and Kahata. Foreign players to be recruited should have exemplary skills. Skills which cannot be found locally. In the past the team has recruited some foreign players whose performance has been wanting.

Honestly Kahata is the only Gor player who will be very difficult to replace. He possesses extraordinary skills rarely found in most players.Anyway as usual his departure will certainly give other players an opportunity to show what they are made of in that midfield. As for Tyuisenge we have many forwards who can perfectly take his placeifthey work harder: Samwel, Mustafa,Ssekisambu, Ombija…… Am a bit sceptical about more foreigners in Gor considering their work rate recently. When a foreigner is benched by a local player then questions are bound to be asked.

Odhis yes Kahata will be fairly hard to replace but as for striker I still believe that with proper foreign scouting we can get one, let’s not repeat past mistakes when it comes to foreigners. Locally unless you can lure Avire from Sofapaka but will Kalekwa do business with Gor.

I have always had faith in our recruitment process. They have done fairly well over the years. Hopefully it will be the same for the next season. We will replace the departing players… Whether the new recruits fill appropriately into their shoes is a matter of conjecture. They will be found out by the end of the season!!

Our heavy players like Wendo, Carcidy, Mustafa, Ssekisambu and Blackberry should be offloaded to Wazito F. C. if possible by use of a forklift.

Oktay is tactically flexible than Kerr and i have watched us play even better without both Kahata and Tuyisenge in some games. I trust him to manage with the available players. Personally, i would love to see Cliff Nyakeya (Mathare), Ian Mutanda (Ksm All Stars) and John Avire (Sofapaka) at Gor. They are technically gifted and with Oktay they can improve a lot for the next season and future

That midfield-maestro francis kahata is leaving gor, is not an open secret anymore. We congratulate kahata for the pivotal stint in the midfield for gor in the three triumphant successive kpl seasons. Kahata at present is enjoying form and a peak in his career. How the club remained dumb and closed the case regarding his contract remains a mystery. Given Gor needs a player of his calibre and experience to marshall any meaningful continental challange next season. Maybe the club lacked the zeal to retain him, maybe they simply wished him away or maybe they succumbed to market forces. Whatever it was, it has left a sour taste in our mouth. Lets just hope that it won’t come up to haunt us at some point, and that probably the recriuting team has some wild cards below the table.

  • Ati Kahata is very difficult to replace? if so then i dont understand football cz to me kahata is like mata of man utd ,a player who is only good when he has ball but vry poor when it’s team is looking for ball, slow pace, is not phisically strong to me i will not miss kahata so much the way i miss Aucho our box to box midfielder, so energytic, quick pace & phisically strong i rest my case

On Kahata issue, i think life will continue. Neiymer of Brazil left Becelona and that did not make PSG win Euro, again Becelona won their league. It’s healthy for a player to move on.
We have several talents in Kenya who can be much better than Kahata. When we won unbeaten, he was not available. When we won Mandela cup, he was not available.
Football is a business and if Kahata can get a better offer, let him go for it.
Players come and go, but Gor is there forever.
We should wish him best of luck in his new club to be.
