Kenya knocked out of AFCON

Kenya suffered perhaps one of the worst humiliations in its football history when they were knocked out of the 2015 Africa Nations cup. The only Kogalo player in action was David Owino at right full back. Former Gor Mahia striker Edwin Lavatsa was also in the starting line-up.

In hindsight it was not shocking. Kenya struggled to beat Comoros, struggled against Burundi at home and along played uninspired football. The preparations were not good. Players had been calling for more friendlies. Instead they were taken on an ill advised trip to Brazil.

They have thus missed out on what was perhaps their best opportunity to play in Africa’s premier football event.

StartingXI: Wilson Oburu (GK), David Owino, David Ochieng, Lawrence Olum, Omar Aboud, Victor Wanyama (c), Peter Opiyo, McDonald Mariga, Dennis Oliech, Francis Kahata, Edwin Lavatsa.

Bench: Jerim Onyango (GK), Jamal Mohamed, Jockins Atudo, Christian Bwamy, Allan Wanga, Paul Were, Cliff Miheso.

Technical Bench disbanded

Sam Nyamweya , the FKF Chairman has disbande the Harambee stars technical bench.

“The federation has given the technical bench all the necessary support during the qualifiers but they have failed to deliver.  We shall inform all Kenyans of the new restructuring of the entire technical bench soon “,said Nyamweya.

  • Someone told me it was coming. Where is that famous slogan….” This is the Team for the future”.

Don’t disband the team , simply disband KFF/FKF ….this is the problem and the ill advices trip to brazil for holiday instead of camping in Southern Africa ? Oooooooh my God!

While they were away in Brazil, Lesotho were camping and playing serious friendlies and we said this but nobody listened . You reap what you sow. Ati eliminated by Lesotho, where is it on Africa map? And when did they start playing football?

  • The only problem was Nandwa & co. I knew that with him we cud not proceed.Even his record is not gud.Y field oliech whom of late have not Bn scoring and leave out bwami who have bn scoring in his club in evry match. Y field lavasta who is clubles & leave timothy out. Is oliech immune to substitution & evn if he is not performing he cannot be replaced. we had gud players to give us a gud result but we never had a compitent t/bench. Oliech shud retire bcos he is finished. He lost 2 golden chances !

The Kenya Authority now has an opportunity to make things right at the KFF/FKF offices, since now we are not going to play at any meaningful FIFA competition for the next two to three years the government should sack all the KFF/FKF officials and disband the national team and start with a fresh structure. ‘A FRESH STRUCTURE’ I mean a KFF/FKF without NYAMWEYA & CO. Because the minimum penalty they can get from interfering with FIFA affairs is a maximum of two years or maybe three. By then we shall have put the best structures or somebody with the game at heart at the helm and even the KPL will be re-organized without Nyamweya. Is Wario listening???

I think we need to believe in our local players than the foreign legion. I believe Kataka would have done it upfront amongst other local players,
I hope as Gor we have learnt something; both the fans and EC/TB

The stupid idea of sending the guys to Brasil instead of camping, Nyamweya must go now! Zambia is doing well under former great Kalusha, this is the time to reflect and bring in Sammy Sholei and the young blood to manage the affairs of football, trust our home grown talent and a local coach! Nigeria and Ghana plus all the top euro countries are doing it with their own home grown coaches. Bring back Mulwa!

  • Hahaha Nyamweya is to Kenyan football what AR is to K’galo. Both have a strangle hold on their “respective” territories and its very unlikely they can be kicked out since both were democratically elected.
Being a Gor Kende aka Gor Damu am wishing that UG cranes are also bundled out so that we always have our 1st eleven & avoid GFC/GoTv type defeats.
Let GM focus on CECAFA as its one of the two silverware (out of 6) left 4 us 2014.
Baba Travis really pray you’re recovering well, comrade.

  • @Oduori 12 must u always call ambrose rachier in anything bad.How is Rachier connected to poor football standards in kenya. R u aware that Rachier came to GM when Gor was like City stars as was always strugling to avoid relegation. If u dont like Rachier then avoid blaming him evn where he is not to blame. Have u ever wondered where Gor wud be without Rachier or u r just the normal noise makers who only makes noise & cannot offer any sollution of the current financial situation in GM .

I suggest that the ministry of sports reclassify Harambee Stars and their technical bench as well as the FKF as comedians and the whole Kenyan soccer as drama, they are best at play acting. Just before this game one of their actors Mr Oliech was out of favour only to be flown in last minute and straight on to the 1st 11; another of Amrouche’s favoured sons(Lavatsa) had not played any meaningful football for the last six months, in fact had no team to play for in the last two but since this is playing acting,he was in the 1st 11; One Mr Mariga has not had any meaningful play wherever he is these days but this being only playing comedy, was also in 1st 11. There is one Mr Peter Opiyo who tried to bring in this soccer thing/sense but since this is only play acting could not catch up with the other comedians,so he looked forlon with all his efforts; Mr Were came in, he was recently signed by Amazulu of South Africa, when he came in and tried soccer, was frustrated by the other comedians upfront; you see the TB could not even consider him in 1st 11 since he would have brought their comedy down by harassing their opponents.Wanga,Tim Otieno,Kataka,Miheso, these are serious soccer players but since this is only comedy, they would have spoilt our drama.

So now its the technical bench? What about the FKF office, what have you achieved football wise? Only CECAFA,and long suspensions for Shollei and Shikanda? You FKF and Oduor 12 give me a break.

Congratulations to back 4: Olum,Cheche,Calabar,Aboud. Any serious future Kenyan team(wachana na Harambee Stars, look for another name)must build around these men.

While Lesotho was preparing Kenya was in Brazil ostensibly to support China in the world cup. But for some reason China just never showed up. Now that is the true China….the one that is never genuine. Perhaps our national team can do better with a Chinese coach.

One wonders what Lavatsa was doing in that lineup with the likes of Michael Olunga not even in the list of dropouts.

@ODUOR12, I admire your resolve to bring in GM and AR anytime soccer is mentioned.how those two are related only you can tell! I’m surprised that your brothers-in-arms have not joined in. In March when we were having our elections I didn’t see your name on the ballot as one who could do better than AR. I am not saying that AR is the best but he is what we have currently. With the challenges the team is having everyone apart from our myopic fans are surprised that we are still on top of the log, even after losing some of our best players. The only noise currently is from some fans instead of the tech team and players, who are feeling the pinch.
the best we can do is to support the team without any reservations and then pick the housekeeping issues in November

  • ken odhiambo and james nandwa have simply killed kenyan soccer over a period of time, ken almost had city stars relegated and it took korea to save it from relegation, nandwa has been struggling with teams in the TPL, how did we ever expect results from these two fellows. besides, the current bsquad of harambee stars with the exception of CALABAR are supposed to be musicians or somewhere in showbiz, urembo tu ndio zao.

Admin, please inform us how the team is preparing for CECAFA. we have heard enough of HS

    Reply
  • and to bring you back home, when you fail to support Gor then you will be disappointed. Good thing is that HS had only One GM player and we can have a good reason to continue supporting them. We should only pride when Gor players play for Gor and not HS
