Kisumu lad thrills Kogalo fans

From futaa.com

When K’Ogalo played Kisumu Combined in Kisumu on Friday 30 December an unknown boy  stood out, and even scored against Gor Mahia to ensure the 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions went into the break trailing…by then the boy was just Antony Otieno.

Balotelli

K’Ogalo, impressed by the lad, immediately made a swoop and by the time he featured in their next game, against Bondo United, Gor Mahia followers had already named him Balotelli. So there he is, Antony Balotelli Otieno, the newest Gor Mahia recruit who also scored the only goal as K’Ogalo won against Bondo.

Speaking to futaa.com, both the club’s Secretary General George Bwana and the Vice Chair Faiz Ochieng singled out the muscular 20 year old for praise, saying he is the next big thing in Kenyan football.

The next big thing

-I can assure you this is the biggest signing we will make from the tour. The boy has got all the qualities a premier league club can desire; the talent, the physique and the speed are just but a few qualities to reckon, Bwana said.

-Watch out for this boy, he is the next big thing in Kenyan football. The two goals he scored in the past 24 hours are just not enough to explain his capability. The boy is so talented, Faiz told futaa.com.

Gor Mahia are now preparing for the final game of their tour against Gem Combined which is slated to kick off at 1600hrs.

Editor Note:

The name Balotelli is ill advised. Fans should strongly consider a more original nickname. If you are going to nickname the lad after a player then consider a better role model like . Also you might consider letting him play long enough to earn a nickname before you give him one. Just one person’s opinion

  • Editor your comment is uncalled for and Gor Mahia belongs to fans that have every right to give players any nickname.

These things come instanteneously, and thats when they stick, even nobody sat and debated on “Blackberry”. Must have originated from one person and cought on. Let it be Balotelli and it is.

Think critically before giving nicknames. If you give one a name of a certain player, ensure that the name stands for a role model who’s to be emulated. Its time we nicknamed our soccer stars after our local talent/legends:)

A player should earn a nickname. This guy may not even be a good player. How many times have we seen a promising player fade into oblivion ?

This is the kind of praise that Odera resieved from the Kogallo officials when they signed him, why cant yo wait for us to see. I grues whoever named him Alcatel is today walking with his head deeply buried in the sand.
