KPL to dock points for hooliganism

Among the rules approved during a governing council meeting include docking of points for guilty clubs and life bans for repeat offenders

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) has approved new tough rules to end hooliganism in the country. Among the rules approved include docking of points for guilty clubs and life bans for repeat offenders.

The rules were approved during a governing council of the company held in Naivasha at the weekend. The governing council was attended by all club chairmen, who approved the move that is most likely to affect some of them before the season ends.

According to KPL Chief Executive Jack Oguda, the meeting also gave clubs the responsibility to control their fans.

“Clubs will be resposible for the conduct of their fans. They will be required to identify those who cause trouble and we will take them to court,” he said in a statement.

He further said the council called for the establishment of a special force to deal with hooliganism as well as training of policemen to deal with crowd trouble.

The meeting also resolved that police will not be allowed to get inside the stadia with tear gas. Last weekend, violence erupted during Kenya Power Charity Cup held at Nyayo Stadium.

Hooliganism is not my business but my biggest worry is, The green army still need to do alot on their finishing, striking force is very poor and not co ordinated!! I have been watching Kogalo online from UAE but wat i can say is” we need to do alot for us to retain the cup” No aggresiveness in this team!! People like Herbat Kopany, Jared Obwoge to be given chance at times. Again Rama is still not up to the game but i know he’ll pick up. Yawa, aluor!! Look at how AFC is promising.

Isn’t it already a crime in the country 2 smoke/handle bhangi, 2 destroy/steal public property & behave in a disorderly manner in public.
The IG has previously stated that there’s nothing like special training 2 handle football fans who r much less in number than those @ national rallies.

We’ve heard that its the EC’s who intervene 4 the release/pardon hooligans caught.
2 me its simple I again advise our new EC 2 invest in powerful long range CCTV cameras (am sure G4S etc can assist) & get….

footage of the hooligans breaking the law. Sniffer dogs,alcho-blow & frisking if effectively used at the entrance will net the bhangi & those who sneak in bottles & stones.
The camera evidence can be used 2 then arrest the hooligans & charge them in court. They could be declared wanted criminals & their pictures circulated in the print & electronic media.
This means that every one will be responsible 4 their own actions in the stadium. As someone said lets use technology 2 fight this vice.

    Three things
    1. Hoolgans – once you have paid for the terraces keep off the main stand whatever happens, carry your umbrellas in case it rains; that is called discipline. The moment you start jumping over fences in international matches, the match commissar’s pen starts recording things about our poor organization or lack of it.
    2. Saturdays’s match – average to be honest, with some individuals outstanding; one goal is not secure but if they just adjust upwards by a bit they can embarrass the Bitams, they were not as good as earlier thought.I do not know what exact role should be assigned Blackberry and Rama, these are good players but they seemed to struggle through the match.Sserunkuma was marked out, could someone think of starting Oboya, just my thinking.

3.Return leg -From what I saw, there easily get worked up; Go there to annoy them, deny them the ball, frustrate them to the point that they lose their heads, get them a few yellow cards. If by half time the game will be tied or you could even be ahead of them, kill it.

Prepare yourselves for frustration possibly from the airport,to the hotel(if there will be any),to practice grounds, meals, match officials and all.If possible carry own food and cook it yourselves; contact the Kenyan embassy early and seek assistance from there.

gor has a chance of sailing thru’. the gabon team is not the worry but the nxt opponents. gor will not go far if the tech ability of the club does not improve. biyik did not show much for a coach if faking injuries was his strategy. meaning in gabon he will go for an all out attack. can gor sustain such attacks or will they too employ fake injury tactics. my hope is that gor uses good counter attack football and not the off-side traps we are used to seeing. but that’s just my hope. and to afc leopards…turning afc to a one man team will be ur big undoing. Were has no discipline and in no time this guy will start thinkin he is Ronaldo. i doubt if he learnt anything from his past escapades. Nandwa could be a good coach but these ‘locals’ can never handle wayward players. it’s usually the coach who is shown the door. i thought Matano would last… but he will b around, coz the likes of Kimanzi will not last. it has taken nigeria time but they have finally given Keshi the support reserved for ‘whites’. the club that will clearly make it is sofapaka, coz at least Kalekwa knows about executive decisions.

  • dinga i watched the match and i can assure you ingwe is far much better than kogalo in the striking department but one thing for sure is that not all about kogalo is dead it will rise if you saw the flashes in brightness in Shabaan Kenga and the blackberry then you will understand what i mean i hope we sail through to meet Esperance de Tunis in the big grudge match the team will be forced to gel and that is the time.

Before you crucify fans, think of these policemen who throw tear gas carelessly. Train police on crowd management not getting excited at shooting tear gas. Some people come to the field with their children. Let police arrest the known hooligans who never sit to watch football but loiter around with bad intention.

I support the idea coz each and every One will be his brothers keeper. No genuine Gor Mahia fan will allow the points the boys will have fought for to be docked. On the game against Bitam I urge the coach to go for an early goal then possess in in the next half.

Pals,i think the problem usually come when AFC leopards Play Gor Mahia.
    i have an idea;
create a buffer zone consisting of two groups of Gor Mahia and AFC leopards Stewards.the officers should separate the two irate groups especially those sited at Russia.
Police /stewards to face the fans and identify the trouble makers as opposed to them sitting calmly watching the match in any case their core duty is to provide security not watching the game.
    more to follow……………………………….

Saying that hooliganism is none of our busines as said by @ja ongoro from UAE is missing the point. This vice affects the team a lot. On sato we were few in the stadium due to the charity cup fiasco. This meant reduced income since w have some faint-heated fans. If u were around you would know how some of us fell embarassed due to this.
On the match we can only pray we do away as we used to. Ask Ingwe about Gor in Sudan or Malawi. As said we should play Obwoge and Eric instead of Rama and BB. For experience Oboya can bw unleashed.
For those comparing our game with Ingwe’s the Gabonese play wuith more purpose than the Ethiopians.
