Logarusic at loggerheads with Amrouche

Harambee Stars preparations for their 2014 World Cup qualifiers second leg match against Nigeria in Nairobi on June 5 has been jolted by a simmering stand-off between national team coach Adel Amrouche and his Gor Mahia counterpart Zdravko Logarusic.

On Tuesday, Logarusic incensed Amrouche by withdrawing Gor players from the Stars camp despite an agreement that the players would stay on until last evening.

Logarusic recalled Rama Salim, Edwin Lavatsa, David Owino and Jeremy Onyango to play in their KPL Top Eight second leg semis match against Tusker on Wednesday.

Football Kenya Federation’s liaison officer, John Kariuki, had earlier stated that the federation had agreed with affected clubs that players selected to the national team would not go back to their clubs until Thursday after their May 21-23 training programme with Stars. Amrouche has accused Logarusic of undermining the national team.

It happened before

“We only get this problem when dealing with Gor. It also happened before we played Nigeria in the first leg. And now, Logarusic is at it,” Amrouche said.

But Logarusic has downplayed the stand-off, saying he was only taking care of his priorities. “I also want the national team to do well, but my club has congested fixtures. My best players should not be away, especially when they are not playing any game,” Logarusic said.

What is this about? Wasn’t Kogalo having a match to play on Wednesday and they needed all their players to be able to raise a team? There must be something we do not know. Initially I had thought this Amrouche is a good man, now what is this? So then the question should go to soccer bosses, what is this Super eight about? And did you explain to Amrouche that there would be a match and that Gor are playing? Come out and give your comments on this ugly matter, we are not amused.

@Ingo what have we “Gor people” and I in particular done to be labeled as “becoming too much”? How do you want “the pembe” cut?

  • Where in the world do you leave a knockout game to attend some casual training? What happens when the likes of Wanyama land?

We have seen how local players are treated by successive Harambee Stars coaches and the clubs cannot trust this one either. You train for three weeks only to be kicked out when the Oliechs, Timbes and Wanyamas arrive.

@3..Barefoot bandit, ignore people like ingo who have no meaningful explanation to anything. His contribution is as poor as his teams performance….am sure that translates to everything else he does!!!!

  • How did they expect Gor to play tusker, with half a team? Anyway, what’s the point of training for weeks only to be dropped because a bench warmer from some scandinavian country has arrive two days to the match?

  • Kwani Amrouche anataka kuwa coach of K’galo. Come slowly AA, you are dealing with Sirkal and you should be diplomatic when dealing with another friendly GK (Gor K’galo).
Remember its you who needs our players and fan support not the other way round.
Logarusic, this is why ua tops administratively, to you K’galo is always no.1, the priority.

  • Guys, I’m sure some of the players called have completed their leagues but where are they? The FIFA rule is that players are released 5 days before an international match. Like @Creative village has said what’s the point of filling the training grounds for Wanyamas and Oliechs to come two days before the match and then you get kicked out.
This club vs country is not confined to Kenya only. Right now Victor Moses might not play for Super Eagles due to some ‘injury’ yet he has been playing for Chelsea with that injury.
For that AA should go slow since some of us value Gor more than HS. We feel nothing when HS loses but feel everything when Gor loses.

I dont know what Amrouche is complaining about here. Loga did the right thing. The players were needed for the midweek match. Amrouche should stop this ill-advised tirade against Loga. he even goes as far as accusing Loga of sabotage eti Loga wants his job. This is paranoia.

  • ”We only get this problem when dealing with Gor it happend b4 Nigeria match….” Come on Kogalo fans am a100/ sure the Gor players called to HS r dissapoited bcoz its only by playing 4 HS that a chance presents itself 2go abroad n get that priviledge of ‘coming late’ n feature in the 1st 11 Musa has lost his place due 2 that conflict@ Dan Gor winning might be the only thing that matters 2u but bliv me 2many players it matters most 2 players 2 play 4 HS than anything else

wat matters to me is the results Gor post not HS ,n who is cheating this AA that kenya can make it to the world cup, stop wasting our time look fr players from thika ,mathare, afc n the rest ,you can’t keep on wasting our players time only to drop them wen akina timbe come

  • @Bill Playing In the group stages of CAF champs league has more exposure than playing for HS. Afterall some of the players like Wanyama became HS material after going to Europe thro their managers but not that they were the best locally.
If we follow the law players must only be released 5 days to a national team game

@Bill,what no. do u think Musa M. will play when Nigeria plays HS.Bcos I think that Mandela,Owino,Ochieng cheche, Osano curtis , Mulinge munadi r all in camp. There is no need 4r Musa to waste his time in in HS to be dropped at the last minute without even sitting at the bench.I know that Musa is good but I also know that wud not have been fielded even if he wud have stayed 4r the entire traying period. If AA droped Musa, why has he not dropped Owino? Bcos he cant afford to drop Owino bcos Owino is 1st 11.

I now believe there is conspiracy to undermine Gor Mahia. In fact there are people who fear GM and that’s why of late, any time we are playing in City stadium we are facing attack, including our players. If we are bringing the issue of first leg against Nigeria then I would ask how many GM players were selected? It was only Owino jaCalabar. Whenever the foreign based players come, 3/4 of the players in the camp are dropped and GM players will not be spared.
