Logarusic right to be worried
The performance of Gor Mahia in the last four friendly matches has not been inspiring. The last match was a hard fought 1-0 win over second tier side Kariobangi Sharks.
“Our legs are still very heavy and we seem to be out of touch. I am definitely worried because we are playing the CAF confederations Cup next week. It is usually a great challenge to play a very competitive continental game before the league starts because the players are yet to adapt,” coach Logarusic told michezoafrika.com
Given that pre-season training has been going on for almost 4 weeks now, one is left wondering why the players legs are still heavy.
During the friendly matches, coach Logarusic has indicated that some of the new signings have been far from impressive and have a lot of work to do before they can be given regular playing time.
Logarusic has indicated that he is determined to improve upon the team’s performance since last year’s disaster against Ferroviario. “I always say that it is better to improve on your performances. We were humiliated on the continent last time round, but we’re better prepared this time round,” said the Croatian tactician, who confirmed to the EA Standard that he’s committed himself to the popular club until the end of the 2013 season.
Unlike last year when Kogalo were shell shocked at how good the Mozambican side was, this time Logarusic has indicated that he knows what to expect from the Seyechellois
“I have some videos of the team in action and we have an idea of what to expect,” said Logarusic.
Happy New season.I put this country in the great hands of Jesus Christ.Whoever wins elections will be a Kenyan and be it. This season is going to be tough.i believe since kenyan kpl football is growing every new season with injection of alot of money, there is no underdog at all. MAY GOD BLESS INGWE.
I AM ALSO EQUALLY WORRIED IF WE CAN OVERCOME TUSKER AND SEYCHELLS IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. STRIKING FORCE IS BLUNT, MIDFLIED IS UNCOORDINATED AND THE DEFENCE IS SHAKY. WOOOOOOOW !!! KOGALLO RAISE YOUR STANDARDS YAJOWA
The season is going to very competitive.
However the blame squarely remains with the Logarusic as the coach was away for too long while other clubs were busy in the transfer market. EC are to be blamed too for failure to fasttrack the recruitment processes and bringing untested player from Brazil.
I have been saying that there is a big problem in Gor Mahia due to lack of seriousness, co-ordination and planning. We have several questions for EC to look at as there will be more pressure in the team.
Mwakio@3.
I totally agree with you. Loga should look nowhere for blame. He is responsible for the heavy legs.
i watched in dismay the kariobangi friendly and one would ask who Gor Mahia was save for the Uniform. we were running aimlessly, no purpose nor character at all. all in all, the defence marshalled by Emuge an partnership of Owino,Nassio, Anguyo and Wekesa is superb.
moses Odhiambo, Teddy,Kevo,Kiogera,Rama and Serenkuma takes my first eleven. mapunda would work for me this time. he has developed character and inspiration to the team.
I am waiting to see a Lavatsa/Kiogera patnership. both creative with strides.
Before the coach left I thought he left a list of players to be signed. Did we do that? No. The issue is that the league is going to be even more difficult this year. As gor fans we must accept that amything can happen. I can already read panick in fan’s commenets even before the season begins. Personally I think that if we can have Loga for the whole of this season then we can go one better than last year. For the last five years I cannot remeember gor going the whole season with the same coach and I hope this year will be different
There is no cause for panic at all. The approach for the Saturday friendly was too casual and there was lack of seriousness from players from the first minute to the 90th minute.
Going by the line-up and performance we had against Mathare United during Charity cup (second half line-up), I must confess that this team is very good. It is only the combination that the coach needs to work on very very fast as there is no time for trial and error.
Is Loga wearing a Leopards shirt?
Let me add my voice TO this debate. Do not blame coach for any thing. One has to visit family staying so many kilometres from Nairobi, he had to and he had to sort their problems before setting back for Nairobi. In any case wasn’t there negotiation going on about his terms at Kogalo. The EC was there, deputy had been briefed on what the team needed,he had to brief the EC, that is how offices are run. If he was not brifed then what is he there for? I think it is utterly unrealistic to keep on blaming the coach for such things. For sure we now realise rather too late that we needed a real strong striker, not that those who are there are bad but just to add the lethal punch to the force, now only during the June window. So stop the blame game for now for unity as we approach continental match in five days time.
Oooh Laaa Laa!!!!!
Season 2013 is just knocking our doors and it is all system go. Yes i also watched the friendly against the SHARKS of kariobangi which was very entertaining.
Good People of K’Ogalo let us not panic at all. Our boys are raring to go places. That was a friendly match meant for warming up muscles.PERIOD!!!
Yes the approach was casual and it was reflected on the pitch, but will not the scenario that will be applied for competitive matches. “WATCH THIS SPACE”
The SHARKS had been training seriously waiting for the “BIG” match according to their coach cause after losing quite a number players he wanted to gauge his new players.
After the match the coach had long pep talk with his folks and as a routine the technical bench has a fitness coach who knows how to fix the problem.
Tactics and skills will flourish once they achieve fitness level. TUWENI WA POLE and judge them latter.
I totally agree Ogango! We don’t need to win in preseason, we just need to prepare well, test our new players, practice out tactics and conserve energy for the big matches. No need to panic. Last season we played a lot of games in preseason and won nearly all of them but look at the way we started the season! It was a disaster. I believe we are on track, no need to exert undue pressure on the players and the coaching staff at this point in time. We are going to win the title this season.
Your performance on the Mock exam is usually a good indicator of how you will perform on the national exam. Gor has performed poorly on their “mock exam” we should expect the same when the “national exams” start.
Siku njema huonekana asubuhi..
I must a gree with most of bloggers that may be Loga is using the friendlies to sharpen more tactics and game uproach come the season to begin. Then what does that mean? Probably the opponet has learn his tactics and can not help Gor at all.that was evident from Dimateo at Chelsea.if Gor isn’t careful Loga is going to turnish his admired c.v in kpl.all teams are tough as per now.just watch space. May God bless Ingwe.
@ 9 OGANGO TRAILER & @ 10 Pod Antie – you are spot on; ayie.
@ 11 ingo – I totally disagree with you. Previously we had played pre-season friendlies and lost none and these have never added any value to the team. One of them is the famous 2-1 win against Ghana national team at Nyayo and a draw against Brazil under 20 at Nyayo. However, if you remember clearly, when the season started (2011), Rangers beat us 3-0 and we went losing 5 matches in a row before we could pick up. If you are busy celebrating that GM wako down as I can read between the lines then you will be surprised brother starting this weekend when we have our first assignment for the season…
No.11 and No.12….The reason these 2 ingwe fans are on our blog is because their team of wannabe flops are just that…flops!!big name but nothing to show for it. Couldn’t even make it to the charity cup…what a shame!!
They started last season with a bang and ended with a whimper!!and what did Gor win?FKF cup,TOP 8 cup and runners up in the league, not to mention we had the best player….need i go on??no wonder we are the most watched team in kenya and the envy of many.Fellow bloggers lets be proud. As for no.11 and 12,poleni…try and improve your miserable poor team instead of poking your dirty noses where they are not needed. You might infect us with your AFC disease called failure…!!!
When Zambia were preparing for the Africa Cup, they drew several matches and the argument i read above surfaced. Some fans said the team will win matches that matter, others said the team was not ready. By now the true results have been seen.
Kogalo is not ready for Africa. That is the plain truth. Should we beat Anse Reunion, next are Egyptians. Are we ready? We have released a good chunk of players in the past one year and that means that anyone left in Gor should be up to standard. That was not the case against the Sharks. We introduced our top 8 players in the second half when the Sharks were tired and if i remember well, that is when their goalkeeper went on holiday.
How many shots on target did we have? Our team struggled badly.
@ 15 Creative Village – dont be worried about Friendlies. In fact in the friendly match we played against Sharks, I would have been more happy if they beat us 1-0 so that our boys will be very serious when rubber is supposed to meet the road. For them, they took it as a training session and now all other TPL taem are saying ‘Gor hawako’ which is to our advantage…tomorrow we again have another friendly with Rangers FC and it could be the same.
Recently Harambee Stars beat Libya 3-0 but Nigeria is coming so you can’t say because we won in this and that friendlies we will prevail aginst Nigeria. look at South Aftrica how they won so many friendlies before Africa cup. Another instance is how we normally win friendlies every year before the season starts, touring South Nyanza, Kisumu, etc. Has it ever added any value in your opinion? Look at Mathare United, where do they play friendlies? This team is very good and I have full confdence; read my lips.
Ok, today our Friendly match with Rangers FC at full time GM 3 Rangers 1. So do we judge based on this? I sincerely believe the team is very good and if anyone wants to challenge my point then tell me who is better than GM in Kenya Premier League.
Cn someone tell us what happened to jabrazil is he stl a gormahia ama
Well done today ma team played, thanks to the strikers atleast wamoscore mabao 3. Jerry is still ma 1st choice keeper and as we all know the guy is gd,jst encouragement is wht he needs to boost his confidence and the croat knows this too well.alitoka far na team and he felt believes in him.we also need to encourage our players.tuwache kupretend to be more of Gor than the players themseves coz no job and this I will always emphasize.plz to kogalo fans sato we cheer the team si ona huyu anafanya?Go Gor Go pamoja twende seychelles after nyayo!
I believe we have a very lethal striker in the name of EDWIN LAVASTA. The boy needs to be modeled for positioning and precise accuracy. Have watched him play both at the club and national team level. He has got the posture speed and intelligence when with the ball. Or lets call back KIPLANG’AT JOHN 11
@17 Walter Alando Bwoga ; Remaber this SWAHILI sayings;
“YALIO PITA SI NDWELE TUGANGE YAJAYO”
Friendly are just “Muscle warming and trying out tactical formations so as to make the team gel”. PERIOD
Whether you win 10 nil or loss 10 to 9
