Logarusic unhappy with easy goal

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic was a disappointed man after his side lost 6-5 on post match penalties to Sofapaka in the final of the Kenya Power Charity Cup match on Saturday.

Logarusic has, however, promised to work on the team so that they start the league season on a high in a bid to improve on their runners-up spot last season.

In the match, Gor went up in the 31st minute, through a free-kick converted by Paul Kiongera, with Elly Asieche equalizing in the 72nd minute to drive the match into a penalty shoot-out, which Sofapaka won.

“We played quite well but we fell to a very weak goal. We cannot be losing to such easy goals and that is one of the few things we intend to work as we prepare for the league and the internationals,” said Logarusic after the post-match penalties.

“I would like to congratulate Sofapaka for winning the match, I think they deserved it and since we beat them in the finals of the 2012 FKF Cup, we are now even.”

Enroute to the finals, Gor Mahia felled Mathare United 2-1 in a match played on the same day. Sofapaka, on their part, took down Western Stima by a similar scoreline.

I agree with Logarusic the goal was really an easy goal. It was caused by laxity in the mid-field. I have a strong feeling now that we have very good defenders, Anguyo needs to bolter the midfield though the coach is the ultimate decision maker on who plays what position. Overall we played well.

We played well and I believe the coach was trying to give all players a chance to win their positions.when the team played in sony and muhoroni I commented on my best signings in this blog and for sure who were given the best players of the two matches in the charity cup? I believe that we have a strong team, once they gel then we will be there. what marvells me is how our fans cheer, jst negative criticism”nini mbaya, look at the way anacheza.at times I feel 4 the players bt its their duty to play and put food for their loved ones as we normally do.so when we talk bad about them then put yourself when your employer always criticize your efforts when you do your best.be encouraging them.To us its just entertainment while to them ni job. To bloggers jst food for thought”is God happy when we lose coz we leave peaceful and not interfere with other people”.

I think I may agree with @ 2 at some point because we do misbehave whenever we win. We did not loose bcoz sofapaka was a better side but bcoz God knew that we would misbehave as we did when we won fkf cup. On the match I think we have a good team if not a better team. We created more chances than sofapaka except that they were not converted unlike sofapaka who created only one clear chance. I think the coach should work on finishing so that we may be able to have atleast three goals in every match .

regardless of which team we are playing in our homeland kenya. we should not loose to tusker, sofapaka, efusi, ulinzi, western stima, thika utd or any other team that might want to challenge us in tusker premier league. Bcoz I believe that we have quality in all deparments including technical bench. And we should be like man utd or barca in this region because we have quality.

  • @2 Nyakogalo. I feel you. In life if is one critisized negatively all the time, they tend close up themselves and that results in under-performance in whatever their activity is.Instead if we critique them the chances are that they will see their weak points and be able to improve on them. In fact one even goes an extra mile to achieve their maximum. I therefore suggest that since we are exposed to for example English Premier League, we could borrow a leaf from their supporters how they appreciate not only the Team but also the individual players even if the Team looses. This could cement the spirit of sportsmanship.Since history has it that this thing started in England, why don’t we pick the good things that go with it such as what Nyakogelo is saying.

The results against Muhoroni and Sofapaka show that this year league will be difficult. Gor Mahia may have the upper hand but teams are slowly adjusting to Logarusic’s tactics. Its up to him to adapt and change.
