Muguna makes formal request to leave

Midfielder Kenneth Muguna has made a request for a free transfer to KF Tirana. The Albanian team does not want to pay a transfer fee but wants an agreement where Gor Mahia would benefit if Muguna is then sold to another team.

Gor Mahia midfielder Kenneth Muguna has asked to leave the club amid interest for his services from Albanian club FK Tirana and Zambian champions Zanaco.

The club’s assistant secretary general Ronald Ngala, however, told Nation Sport the player’s wish had been turned down.

Ngala said on Wednesday: “He wrote a letter asking to leave but we said no. He has to wait until the end of the season.”

“These young players at times feel like we are blocking them from better deals but this isn’t the case.”

This stand-off between player and club comes barely eight months since the 21-year old joined the Kenya Premier League table toppers on a four year contract.

Tirana are managed by former K’Ogalo coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira aka Ze Maria.

It is Ze Maria who signed Muguna from Western Stima last December, a week after he had been crowned the 2016 Kenyan Premier League Most Valuable Player.

“They (Tirana) have shown interest in Muguna through an agent who brought Ze Maria here but there is nothing official. We have no offer from them,” added Ngala.

Muguna’s current stance coincides with a public tongue lashing the player received from new coach Dylan Kerr earlier this month.

The English trainer accused Muguna of absconding training.

Said Kerr following the club’s last game against Nakumatt: “It’s a shame that he (Muguna) didn’t feature today because he was very pivotal for us in the last game. I am told his knee is swollen but I haven’t seen him. As a professional footballer, you are paid to work and if you are paid to work and you don’t show up, it is wrong.”

Now enjoying his third-season in the top flight, Muguna is fast carving a reputation as a classy attacking midfielder with wonderful ball skills.

He is a good passer of the ball and reads the game well, and is largely depended upon by Gor Mahia to produce the final pass to the strikers during attacks.

He is a good dribbler but does struggle when the game gets physical because of his slim stature.

It remains to be seen if Muguna will be part of Gor Mahia’s squad in Saturday’s league assignment against Muhoroni Youth in Kisumu.

In a related development, Gor Mahia duo Jacques Tuyisenge and Geoffrey Walusimbi have turned down potential moves to Europe.

These two have been in the radar of Albanian club FK Tirana. Ze Maria is said to be the one pushing his employers to get the Gor players.

What nonsense ati free transfer! Forget that broke 2nd tier Georgian Tirana club with its sheningans. Apart from the transfer between the clubs Muguna was also paid his cut, and it must have been good for him to sign for 4 years. Now,he has the audacity to put in a “free” transfer request after only 8 months and when transfer window is closed. GMFC sio feeder club. Muguna and your agents style up.

And to Mugabe and Ngala, you’ve been in GMFC administration for +10 years each (20 year combined) yet we are losing our top players to the likes of Zesco and Zanaco. How will we win another CAF title at this rate. THE HISTORY OF GMFC IS ABOUT WINNING TITLES NOT SELLING PLAYERS/FREE TRANSFERS. When did GMFC last reach even a CAF group stage? Get your mandate/priorities right!

football is big business all over the world, ask Neymar and Barelona/PSG..Tirana knows that as well…so lets follow the right channels. If he is under contract it goes without saying that there MUST be a transfer fee.Free things ended during the Moi era.We will and should not negotiate without seeing the money!!

I totally disagree with admin about the praises he has heaped on Muguna. Muguna is not even near Philemon or kahata when it comes to accurate passing. The always shoots wide, blind passes ,unsuccessful freekicks and bla bla.It should be remembered that whenever he plays my heart is always on my hands.

One’s heart is usually supposed to be in the mouth when things are very scary. For yours to have left your mouth and now in your hands, I tell you matters must be very very seriously scary.

If the player has made their mind to leave then no BIG deal . Neymar forced his way out, so is Ndembele doing, and so many other players. The thing is for Gor to negotiate his exit fee, Unfortunately Tirana has been struggling financially and nothing worthwhile might come out of it

Unbelievable. ….How can someone sit somewhere and say that I want your products for free?..Who told that useless club that in Africa you can get a player for free?
This mentality that Americans don’t think should be stopped. ..
Where is the guarantee that Miguna will be sold to another club for K’ogalo to get what is rightfully theirs?
What of if the player fails to impress ?
Why does that division two club what Miguna for free?
It’s a waste of time for the Chairman to say that they will need to discuss, discussing what?
We are in business, if the division two club want the young man , let them table their offer…or someone is fooling us.
Omera osewuondwa gaming a….Kogalo ema wadong go…..Kik ngato wuondwa kendo. ….Udwa mayowa…Waol. Thooooooo.

hi Guys and th EC let this boy go on contractual compensation only or he gets his carrier trashed by warming bench in Gor mahia. I did not believe Merus can play some good football around in Gor.

    @ everyone. ..
It is not a matter of knowing or not knowing how to play…
I mean we must honour our obligations in any agreement.
Without honouring the agreement then no contact.
Is there any contract between Miguna and GMFC?
If there is then it must be honoured. …
In a contract we have something called remedies available for breach of contract. …We can apply injunction remedy to stop him from leaving for the next 3 years….
    Omera osetugkodwa gaminga. ….

  • l think no need of forcing a player wen his heart is elsewhere, kahata or mbugua can feet his shoes well but if he can be talked to leave end of this season it will be more better

This is to EC and particularly Aduda, what does the contract say in such a situation? This should be very simple in my opinion, just apply the terms of the contract. And this player tapping? Just apply the FIFA sanctions end of story

  • The issue is not about leaving. Gor will allow the player PROVIDED THAT, the club is paid reasonable compensation for the player. What irks the Gor mahia family is that the player wants to leave on a free transfer and that shameless club is pushing the player to force a move on a free transfer. Shenzi sana. It will not happen and it has never happened. If FK Tirana really values the player let them pay up and we shall gladly let him go. On another note, let us congratulate the EC for contractually tying down a player for 3 years. it has never happened before

  • Ze maria has started wallowing in the miasma of failure after exiting Uefa preliminaries by 5 goals to Maccabi Tel Aviv and now wants to become a player agent and eat commission fees, same as he did by bringing Thaigo Da Lima to train and get paid they share his salary proceeds. We want money plain and simple then Muguna can go to that Mediocre team not worth mentioning even in our website. Using K’Ogalo briefly as a stepping stone only to leave for free is not acceptable in this time and era.Don’t joke omera
