New signings feature as Gor Mahia beat Naivas

Gor Mahia coach Ze maria used a friendly match against Naivas to test all three new signings. Midfielder Baron Oketch who joined from Chemelil was in the starting line-up.

Additional reporting from futaa.com

Coach Ze Maria started with a full-strength side of regular with Jerim Onyango, Francis Kahata and new entrant Baron Oketch handed starts. Oketch, deployed on the left flank role, would however not see much of the ball as Gor offensive emanated more from the right wing of Innocent Wafula and Karim Nizigiyimana who proved too handful for the opponents left back defense line .

The former Stima attacker still managed to get involved from a headed effort off the right cross that however failed to find the target. His effort was sandwiched between strikes from moments of wastefullness from George Odhiambo had a free header from inside the box sent wide.

Tuyisenge later made amends late in the first half rifling home an angled shot from close range that proved too strong for Naivas keeper to put out.

Ochieng and Lima

Other new comers in Wellington Ochieng and Thiago Lima DaSilva were sent with a changed side for the second half with Amos Nondi, Walusimbi and Ernest Wendo getting the nod while Luke Ochieng and Bernard Odhiambo replaced Haruon Shakava, Musa Mohammed  and Eric Ouma Marcello  in defense .

Its Gor Mahia who dominated  the final proceedings even as the Naivas came close to pulling even from a couple of chances at goal.

Ochieng comes close

Of the two new players, it’s the immediate former Muho defender- the replacement for Nizigiymana- who produced a solid display at the back as well as forcing chances at goal from occasional counter-attacks moves. Ochieng almost got back of the net from a thumping header that Naivas keeper did well to stick to summing up  a rather  convincing performance for a non-competitive debut.

Silva chances

Brazilian Silva, who replaced the Rwandese hit man, showed glimpses of his attacking instincts playing alongside work-horse Enock Agwanda and Jacob Keli in the final half. His best chance came when he couldn’t find the right connection from inside the box after being set through by Agwanda from the left.

The attacker would later fall in to a muted display, enjoying less action for the ensuing moments of the final half

Is this the same author as the one in futaa.Com? This report is so yesterday!
For a proper report complete with lineup read soka.co. ke…that’s what a match report should look like in my honest opinion! !

  • Guys…..Robert Ssentongo of Uganda is on sale. Kogalo wanted this guy back in 2014 but the move flopped on the the last minute. He is a lethal striker and 4 times top scorer in UG including the last two seasons in a row. He scores a minimum of 15 goals per season. Last season he didnt play all the games after being suspended by his coach at URA but still ended up the top scorer!!! Kogalo wanted a striker?….Here is one. I have a feeling he will end up in KPL even if we dont snatch him.

But Ze Maria prefers “THIGO” whom observers in yesterday friendly against Naiva rate him far much below Kelly, Agwanda and Kagere. Could it be another fake Brazilian then we will put the EC and TB to task. The only notable signing that impressed the observers was Wellington Ochieng though we can not judge based on a single match. But as long as our preferred XI players remains intact let the joy riders can hang on until end of the season.

      • @Ogango when news of this Brazilian was first announced I raised concerns here. Bloggers were not very happy and told me the TB knows what they are doing. I chose to respect that. Now am hearing we may have goofed. As for foreign quota, If we release Abouba then Marcello leaves as is rumoured we will be forced to switch Wausimbi back to defence or use Wellington who has complained at being used at left back instead of his preferred right back position at Muho. I dont think that was the original plan.I believe we should be allowed to ask questions since there are EC members who read this blog and may take our concerns into consideration even if they dont implement. @Ja Asego how good is Thiago?

        Reply
    • @Marto, I would have wished for him or Kagere who are tried and tested veterans but our foreign quota is a headache. We are already one foreigner more than the KPL limit and EC have to find a way of releasing one. I hope they dont release a quality player to create space for an average one.Who was at Camp Toyoyo to tell us how good this Thiago is?

  • Remember even Karim & Aucho returned at the start of the season off colour and it took them a while to hit form. Now Thiago (will revert back to the revered “Thigo” when the guy earns it) is 100% Ze Maria’s project/baby and the buck stops with him. Remember its coach Loga who rejected Rodriguez aka Waiganjo. Its not lost on us that Gor Mahia is currently very attractive to all manner of creative schemes/projects to milk it. Bloated EC bloating the TB. My prayer is that Jakom (like the Biblical Joseph) will properly strategize during period of plenty. Let there be no free passes at Gor all non performing “passengers” should alight at the June transfer “stage” and we should get Mieno to compliment Aucho and another effective striker to compliment Jausenge.

Guys, I always advocate letting the TB have some space. At the end of the day it is them to take responsibility for results on the pitch. My prayer is that we should keep our current foreign players unless one goes on his own as Aucho is likely to. If someone has served us well as they did over the last few years, we should not be thinking of dumping such players just because we want to sign another. They are all by far above average players. If one were to leave to create space, I would give that chance first to our home boy Kagere. Not even Sentongo, he snubbed us when we needed him most. Thiago or “Thigo”is not signed yet, and I want to put this to the TB, his presence must be causing some unnecessary unease to some foreign players. This is not good for us. If he is good enough, can it be made clear to him when he is likely to be signed and that should be after end of this season?

I know the coach makes the final decisions but it would be a shame if we bring this brazilian yet there are quality affordable strikers within East Africa on free transfer – Kagere, Ssetongo, Okwi, Nonga , Wanga, Were e.t.c .e.tc the list is endless

@Jopiny Kendgi forget about those points and just fight hooliganism in and out of the stadium.

“OYIEDHI MA JO -RUARAKA OK NYAL DUOKO POINTS NE K’OGALO”

THE RUARAKA-BASED FOOTBALL POLITICS OF KENYA WILL CARRY THE DAY.

Nick Mwendwa led FKF will just hold on to the IDAC decision. He relies on the biased opinions and comments derived by pundits in the SuperSports SIMBA SOCCER Programme led by their moderator Chiko Lawi with the likes of Arnold Kanyagonda, Mike okinyi ,Ghost Mulee, Gilbert Selebwa et al.

And am not even surprised with SJAK snubbing Ze Maria with Coach Of The Month Award and rewarding Salim Babu of SoNy despite K’Ogalo collecting a maximum of 12 points and topping the KPL from position 12, While SoNy collecting 10 points and moving from 13th to 9th. There is this GOR-HATERS conspiracy theory that was created by the likes of Oguda, Kimanzi, Bob Munro and Tusker chairman Musyoki and the “SOPRANO” man of Kariobangi Sharks which neighbours RUARAKA will actualize the ruling.

  • @Ja Thurgiji. Ssentongo did not personally snub us when we wanted to sign him last time. It was reported that there was a disagreement between him and his club on how to share his sign on fees. That is why the club refused to release him. If the back stopped with me….i would choose him over Kagere because 1)He has been consistent i.e top scorer 4 times. 2) He has been active unlike Kagere who has not been playing for six months now hence has no match fitness. 3) he has more goals than Kagere. And 5) There is this phenomenon that a player who leaves a club may not perform the same way if he comes back to that club. #SIGN_SSENTONGO.

Let us forget about Kagere and move on. After all when we needed him most he walked away on us with his outrageous demands. 5 months ago, when Jausenge was out with an injury we said everything negative about him and EC. Now the same mob are on Thigo. Why can’t we learn to be patient and let the player settle. Pressure ni ya nini jameni??

Never worried about nothing at Kogallo. For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

    • @Kosero, 1. nobody doubted JaUsenge. At least not on this blog.
      2. We have not said that Thigo is bad. The problem is that for him to be signed we must offload one foreigner all who have been spectacular. Bigger problem is that he may not be that good from reports we are getting from training. A good player is seen in training and that is what earns him a place on the team sheet on match day.
      3. I love Gor and I pray that he is better than all cheaper alternatives locally and regionally. I am saying that because having been brought by Ze Maria, he will always be fielded even if he is below par just to prove a point. By the time everyone will realize he is useless, the league may be gone. That I promise you is trouble knowing this Gor of ours.
      4. My OPINION is that he should prove not just to Ze Maria who already believes in him anyway but to the EC he is better than any foreigner we will have to release or the Kageres and Ssentongos of this world. But truth be told I have a very bad feeling about all of this. My fervent prayer is that I am wrong.

  • Asechopo kaa…@ Ja Thur Gi Ji & Marto…For starters Robert Ssentongo broke his leg (second metatarsal shin bone) and was ruled out of active football for quite sometime (6 months)-he had just left Ethiopia’s St George and was headed to URA…He is just getting back to walking/running so we cannot sign such…Secondly on the matter of Thiago Lima Da Silva,he is an express Head Coach recommendation so only he will take/assume full responsibility for his performance,i watched him in yesterday’s friendly against naiva’s and noted the same concerns players from technical/tactical leagues suffer which is too much running and mobility which they not used to,it was my first time to see him and i would like to desist from ranking or gauging his performance…Finally as i had told you b4,the players earmarked for release have been let go aka Edmond Murai,Eric Ochieng & James Ogada while in the matter of Jacob Keli we have run into a problem as his agent George Bwana insists on having him stay put since there is no tangible offer for his services anywhere so it is better according to him for Keli to keep getting a good salary and warming the bench/terraces than leave and go to a small team…Habari ndio hiyo

    Reply
    • @Ja Asego, does George Bwana decide who goes and who remains? What if all agents of all players earmarked for release say they remain put? My take on Keli has been different from most but Bwana should not dictate terms to the club. How many players have had their contracts terminated before expiry? Even Murai and Ogada still had running contracts but have been released so what makes Keli’s case different ?

      Reply
    • And on the same note, jackson saleh rejected by Afc Leopards might just have to stay until dec if no teams comes calling, understand that releasing a player with a long term contract against his wish only results in them through Kefwa hiring reknowned sports lawyer Majani to take you to court and end up paying compensation plus damages and the lawyers fees,a situation that might cripple ingwe should the 13 appeals/complaints at the court rule in the dismissed players favour. Meanwhile tusker and ingwe are fighting over Allan Wanga, then Tusker is mulling over Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo…I would ask you if i should bring Paul Kiongera as a local cover for our striking force, what is your take?

      Reply
      • How long was Murai’s and Ogada’s contracts. Not very different from Keli’s because when they were signed in January I heard of two years for almost all of them. Can a player’s contract be terminated for non-perfomance?

    • Yawa kumbe “passenger 27” was a backroom deal invovling GB. Has GB (former SG) ever refunded the $40k that he and a certain Zambian player swindled Gor again another “signing” saga. What’s difference btw Keli and Kiongera? Both have been unable to perform for their current clubs ama tunataka passenger no.28? Btw Ze Maria has backtracked and put Thiago on a 2 week trial u can’t favour a player who underperforms. Bet you Keli(at last minute signing) earns more than Marcelo and that’s the problem with bloated EC lack of structures and opaque deals.

      Reply
    • As per futaa.com the broken leg belongs to Brian Umony ( I wish a quick & full recovery ) who is recuperating in Nairobi and not Robert Ssentongo. Jasego,if this is the case what does EC/ Ze Maria say?

@Oduor12 you got it spot on. George Bwana still has some unanswered questions about the loot he gave away to Julius Situmbeko. I feel so cheated that even before we forget the Situmbeko scam he has pulled another one on us with another dubious project. Does he have any heart for Gor Mahia?

Whatever the case, it is imperative that we get our act together during this transfer window. It is the ineffective signings like that of Passenger 27 that have landed us where we are in the log currently and it is therefore a matter of concern when we hear sentiments like Thiago Dilemma not measuring even to the likes of Passenger 27. Mambo gani haya?

Our competitors are doing some very good recruitment. Don’t be surprised to see Pinchez and Paul Were teaming upfront with Kefa Aswani at the Den. I don’t care how we do it, but we must get good, tried and tested strikers. This thing of wuod Maria taking full responsibility is a mirage. Does he really care if The Dilemma misfires? He will simply quit wilh his entourage and leave us with another embarrassment of having lost to the likes of Ogwang’ and Brewkenge.

Mara Marcello and Aucho are leaving , mara they are still our players, mara we are chasing Mieno and Johanna(Kimanzi says they are not selling), mara Ze Maria says he is not bringing in any more players. Kare which is which yawa jokama. My head is beginning to ache. Its also funny when a coach defends his choice of a 30 something player by saying he picked him because he is young!!!

@Ja’Sego, if those are George Bwana’s conditions then I suggest that Passenger 27 be loaned out to teams like Sony, KK Homeboyz, City Stars or even Chemelil or Sofapaka…..at least somewhere he can be fielded regularly and in the process be able to rekindle his career. George Bwana as the agent will still get a cut from the loan deal, so it is a win-win for them.

    • Yes, let him go to another club which can share his salary with GM (in whatever proportion) hence lightening our financial burden/curse of a player who at the behest of his agent just wants to sit out his contract. Isn’t the GB who is also King David’s agent who manipulated his premature exit from K’galo. We must get a quality striker either Robert( even Jausenge had injury issues) or Lwanda. Na Mieno pia. Ati literally sitting out their contract to continue getting their good salary nkt

      Reply
      • @ musymo…Yes it is very possible to terminate a players contract for non-performance but there are Fifa rules governing it.The main one is a player must have featured in less than a 1/3 of the match day squad for the first half of the season (completely pout of the 18-man squad) which is what we used in releasing Murai,Ogada and Eric Ochieng.Passenger 27 (Keli) and Jackson Saleh however have satisfied this condition hence can only be released on mutual consent otherwise the matter ends up in IDCC/High Court. That is how GB has ended up coaxing us into a corner in which we are stranded with Keli,we will look at the loan option together with saleh to ease the financial burden.@ BB/Oduor12 well suffice to say George Bwana has never had Gor at heart since from precedence he takes the best from Gor read Calabar,Abondo,(Akumu & Jesse Were who were to sign for Gor in January under then Nuttal) and takes to Zesco then brings a failure in Keli who Nkana had chased away to Gor Mahia, what is the logic there?Still he is Allan Wanga’s agent currently running around Tusker & Afc trying to secure him a good deal to eat commission while the team/s get stuck with a non-performing Azam rejected striker…I rest my case Jodhot

Welcome Kosero after being away for too long. The site has now many new bloggers who are not patient at all. May be some of the bloggers have new baptism names.

I have posted before that let the technical bench led by Ze Maria do their job. He will be judged on the performance at end of the KPL in November and we bloggers have one role of supporting the team.

PLEASE BLOGGERS LET THE COACH DO HIS WORK WITHOUT UNDUE PRESSURES FROM US. OUR OPINIONS IN THIS SITE CAN BE DISASTROUS TO THE TEAM COHESION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS.

I SUPPORT THE COACH IN BRINGING NEW PLAYERS AIMED AT IMPROVING THE TEAM PERFORMANCE. PLAYERS CAN’T BE JUDGED ON HOW THEY ARE RUNNING DURING THE TRAINING AND THE COACH KNOWS BETTER WHY HE BROUGHT HIS COUNTRYMAN TO KOGALO.

  • @Odour 12 I agree with u on Ssentongo. @Ja’Asego I beg to disagree with u on the supposed Ssentongo’s injury. This guy played throughout in the recently concluded season 2015/2016 and was top scorer with 18 goals. He also played throughout in the prior season 2014/2015 and was also top scorer to make it two golden boots in a row in addition to another earlier two baggings (a total of 4 times)! His club is selling him only because he has an irrepairable fallout with his coach. As we speak today, KCCA, the current champions and Vipers are scrambling for his signature. How is all this possible if he had that metasomething bone injury? Incase u are wondering why i am this much for him….well i live and work in UG. I have seen this guy play and have been his admirer for long. Any one give me names of east and central african strikers who have been this consistent (4 golden boots so far). Hardly! How i wish he played for my beloved Kogalo. #Sign-Ssentongo.

As far as signing him is concerned, well he hasn’t been on Gor’s radar like the injured Umony who Nuttal wanted sometime back,so it is a new development that can be looked at,one worry though is his inconsistency in turning out for his national team the cranes, since in the absence of Geoffrey Massa, then Emmanuel Okwi steps in and Brian Umony has been the third choice striker for sometime now,one wonders why the national team consistently ignores him,or is he a case of Jesse Were in terms of club & country?I ask only because national team statistics play a very vital role in foreign player acquisition in EA…

@Erico Jarae you have always been a gentleman, at least judging from your posts that I have read in this site over the years (and that will not change today). You will agree with me that the entry of Ja’ Asego has added a new dimension to our interaction with the team. For once we are getting very reliable and credible updates on the goings-on in the team. Let us appreciate and embrace this new development. Because of Ja’ Asego, I no longer have the feeling that I am posting my views into darkness, that I am talking to a wall or a stone. Any time I post a comment I have the confidence that my sentiments will somehow reach the relevant target and I will receive some feedback.

I want to view Ja’ Asego’s input as a contribution towards advocacy and all bloggers of goodwill in this site like you and Gor Mahia fans for that matter should just celebrate this gallant son of K’Ogalo. Why should we vilify Ja’ Asego? Look for instance at GB’s acts of pilferage of Gor Mahia that he has exposed to us. The other day it was Muyoti. I support this naming and shaming. I think from now the Muyotis and the George Bwanas will have to think twice before they think of engaging K’Ogalo in some opaque scheme.
