Nuttall: Surface was unplayable

On Saturday, Gor Mahia gave up a two goal lead agains Tusker a Afraha stadium and ended up settling for a 2-2 draw in the KPL Top 8 first leg match. Frank Nuttall has praised his charges. He however noted that the playing surface a Afraha stadium was less than ideal for Gor Mahia’s style of    play.

“I am not happy with the way we threw away the two goal lead; it did not feel good at all. But we should also blame the pitch, its condition was not good and it could not allow us to play as we usually do.” said Nuttall to goal.com

Teams like Tusker and Ulinzi that thrive on physical play and long balls are better suited to playing on uneven surfaces.

Nuttall further indicated that due to injuries especially in defence, he has had to field players like Innocent Wafula and Eric Ochieng in unfamiliar defensive positions.

“We had to do without several players, that is why some played in unfamiliar positions. It is however, done, and our focus now is on the second leg.” he continued.

With Tusker being the home team, the two goals Gor Mahia scored will count as away goals which will offer Gor Mahia an advantage. A draw of 1-1 or 0-0 will see them through to the final.

“But two away goals is an advantage to us and we shall have to make sure we perform well in the return leg so that we can qualify,” he continued.

On a positive note, Ali Hassan Abondo appears to have regained the form that saw him top the scorers charts in the first leg. In the las two games, he has scored 3 goals, created an assist and forced a penalty.

Gor Mahia will take on Tusker in the return leg will be played in Nairobi on Wednesday 4 November.

Is Mathew Ottamax back on the technical bench? I thought he resigned

And what is the news on Walusimbi? The team needs him for the return leg against Tusker.

  • Let the TB, filled Olunga Mike on Full-Back Left instead of Innocent Wafula, I have noticed the Mike is so best in deffending, even at Harrambee Stars, he always falls back to assit deffenders. In this case Wafula will partner with Karim as usual. I do not ment that Wafula is no doing well at that position, I fell he’s being waisted in that position. THAT’S HOW I SEE IT AND YOU?

Was waiting to here some comment as expected and now it has come to pass, eti if Oluoch can not be the keeper then we will not finish unbeaten, yaani people could not appreciate what jerry did on sato making some fine saves, even if we dont like him since we have better player in that position right now please lets appreciate them, just to add on that the same players we always adore always dont play whenever there is a salary delay because they understand where we are coming from as a club, but the so called heroes wacha mshahara ichelewe kidogo all the media houses will know, some of the players we hero worship now did not play not because they are injured but because of money issues so please lets be honest at least for once,i know the know it all will start saying you cant work without pay,but they are the same people who adore Rachier who can not put structures after heading this club for almost 10 yrs.

Jerry is part and parcel of the team and having been out of the team for a long time he has come in and done well…it’s a team sport and everyonea contribution should be appreciated. …
At the end of every game it reads Gor not jerry or olunga. ..

Ve never supported Ec on how they run the club or advocated players to play without pay but will always say the truth even in times of mapunda, mapunda used to win trophies while jerry used to loose derbies even that game btw thika vs gor when gor nation agonized so much. So i dont want the repeat of the same thats why i keep on pointing here again n again but my question is if jerry is too hot why cant he move to other clubs like kasaya kwani he want to retire in gor. rachier while being interviewed in radio jambo he said the players salary are paid todate n TB fees are not update n they working to settle it. gor office can fetch more money from sponsors if they implore the vision of dan shikanda of making proposals to companies n parastatals now that financial period of companies are coming to close. again gor office has never bothered to settle that court case gor/elliotts vs good bread out of court so as both of them can package n brand the bread under gormahia also they still not following the keroche deal. Ec like treating gormahia as their property so they dont want sponsors coming coz they will not get fans mileage n praises . When gormahia will beat this odds thats when it will achieve financial stability. 39 days for the landlord n 1 day for tenant . It will be well one day
