Oktay Defends Odhoji, blames attack

Shaban Odhoji has been having a good run between the posts. But on Thursday against KCB Fans faulted him for the goals especially the third one where he was caught out of position. However Coach Oktay is adamant that Gor Mahia would have won that game if they took their chances.

I can’t blame my keeper for those mistakes because they play as a team. Why is it that when strikers miss chances in any given match, they are not at fault but when a keeper concedes a goal, he has committed a mistake?” Oktay told goal.com

Oktay is seeking to build Odhoji’s confidence so that the custodian can build on his good run.
“Odhoji has been marvellous for us in the last few matches and we cannot crucify him just for one or two mistakes. He was fantastic in the second half of the season, we did not concede and I like his attitude because he always leads the team from behind.” he continued.

Oktay has his work cut out to sharpen the attack
“We were on top in the second period, I lost count of the chances we created. I guess we had around seven or eight chances that my strikers could not put away. Mustafa (Francis) missed four and scored one, Jacques Tuyisenge missed two and I think Boniface Omondi squandered another,” said Oktay

Oktay knows that Gor Mahia cannot afford to relax since Sofapaka are breathing down their neck, only six points behind. Gor Mahia cannot afford another slip up against Westerm Stima on Sunday.

“It was a game we deserved to win but when you don’t use your chances, be assured of dropping points and that is what happened to us. I am happy with the draw because KCB also played well and never gave us time to play our game.” he concluded.

  • Oktay, I support you always, but with this comment you are both right and wrong. Yes we shouldn’t blame the keeper. Such occurrences happen even with the best keepers in the world. Degea had one recently. But I don’t think we should blame attack either. Didn’t they score three goals? Since when did Gor mahia score seven goals? coz it seems that’s what you wanted. For this game, let’s just say luck was on the other side, not on ours.

The keeper needs to re watch that game and make notes, he should be told his mistakes and learn from them, the keeper needs to know where to be and when to leave his line and he should note that our opponents have noted those mistakes

K’ogalo hoyee. I wish to ask the administration that this site of gormahia.net,does it represent the interest of Gor mahia fc or it’s an individual site.why do I ask that? Today Ambrose Rachier, was in ramogi fm and discussed the current status of Gor mahia fc,and I know that most people who normally don’t listen to local radio stations and I thought the administration of this site would highlight on what Rachier talked about to the many k’ogalo fans who normally visit this site. But they haven’t done so..OK Rachier have announced that the new constitution will decide on the elections and that he will not run for elections. He also warned that if the constitution is not changed, then making Gor mahia fc great will be difficult. He also revealed that brookside dairies is likely to comeback and sponsor the team alongside sportpesa. He did emphasize on Gor mahia fans to register as members to be able to make decisions on the club. The registration fee is 1200/= and a monthly subscription of 100/=which also translates to 1200/=. So what Gor mahia fc fans should know that for you to make noise if the team doesn’t perform, you must be a member, not fan.
