Rachier and EC not aware of Ottamax sacking

Drama continues to plague the Gor Mahia setup as bewildered fans watch in disbelief as the poor performances on and off the field. On Friday, goalkeepers coach Mathew Ottamax told media outlets that he had been fired by Brazilian tactician Ze Maria.

“He told me yesterday (Saturday) that I was not needed in the team and that I could not fly with the team to Kisumu (for the GOtv game).

“Things have not been fine because the coach has been belittling us. He has no respect and talks to me using foul language in the presence of players,” Ottamax added.

Ottamax claimed that the coach, had, commissioned one of the senior players to source for his replacement.

“I decided that I could not take it anymore because he told me to keep away. He is running down the club.”

Mathew Owino Ottamax who was a stalwart for Re Union FC, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Harambee stars during his playing days in the 1990s, wrote a letter to the fans base on his social media pages.

“A blank firing coach decides to fire his goalkeeping coach…maybe this will solve his scoring problems! Mine is to say a BIG THANK YOU to Gor Mahia players, staff, the executive office and our loving fans for everything we achieved as a family during the three and a half seasons I was with you. I remain loyal to my Mother Club” he said.

However club chairman Ambrose Rachier said that he is not aware of such while club treasurer Ken Ouma dismissed the sacking claims saying that Ze Maria had no powers to hire or fire.

“The matter has not come to the office and if there is an issue then it should be brought to us. It’s however not official because the coach is an employee and has no powers to fire anyone,” Ouma said to the Daily Nation.

Ze Maria is spending so much time and energy on sideshows at the expense of his core responsibility. Interestingly it is now emerging that his track record as a coach is replete with only dismissals for non-performance.

The best way out of this mess is to send Ze Maria together with all those hanging on his coat tails, on an indefinite compulsory leave. Ze Maria is not the first coach to introduce tiki taka in Gor Mahia. Len Julians did it with so much success.

Meanwhile, Ottamax should be reinstated, Tom Ogweno maintains Special Programmes and Leonard Odipo or Sammy Omolo or Mzee Siang’a to take coaching responsibilities on interim capacity.

  • Now who gave Ze Maria the impression that he had executive powers at Gor Mahia. I think the EC are culpable since they told us they had given him free reign to select his TB as a way of professionalizing the club. The results are clear for all to see. He brought Onyango who is a very bad advertisement for the club and Aurelio whose role in the club remains unclear. Ottamax said the coach values his friends more than his colleagues in the TB and that reminds me that apart from Aurelio and Onyango, there are two other ‘Brazilians’ who travel with the team for away matches and sit inside the stadium perimeter during our Nyayo matches. Who could they be and what are their roles at the club?

Admin: These days unaniweka bench (ati moderation) for too long. I posted yesterday and it has not been loaded, Why?

Nobody in EC is ever aware what is happening with Gor Mahia players and TB.
Gor Mahia is just about poor administration.

It shows that its good coaches like Loga and Nutall ( who had in addition good administrative skills) who are responsible for the good performance over the last few years. Look at Bob Williamson and now Ze Maria to see that EC’s input is bure kabisa.

LET MEMBERS COMMIT ALL OFFICIALS TO SIGN A YEARLY PERFORMANCE CONTRACT WITH THESE MINIMUM TARGETS. FAILURE AND EC AUTOMATICALLY RESIGNS AT THE NEXT AGM.

    1. GOR MAHIA MUST QUALIFY FOR ONE OF THE TWO CONTINENTAL TOURNAMENTS.

    2. GORMAHIA MUST REACH AT LEAST THE SEMI-FINALS OF EVERY REGIONAL TOURNAMENT THEY PARTICIPATE IN.

    3. GOR MAHIA MUST REACH THE GROUP STAGES OR AT LEAST THE 3RD ROUND OF ALL THE CONTINENTAL TOURNAMENTS THEY PARTICIPATE IN.

IF WE HOLD EC TO THESE THEN IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO IS IN CHARGE AND THESE TARGETS WILL TRICKLE DOWN TO THE TB AND PLAYERS.

Anyone wanting to be an official who is unwillingly to sign this performance contract should in fact not been allowed to sign however glorious their theoretical manifestos are!
These contracts should be kept with the club’s independent lawyers.

WE AS FANS SHOULD NOT BE DRAWN INTO THESE USELESS ADMINISTRATIVE BATTLES WE JUST WANT RESULTS.

The problem is not Ze Maria. Its Rachier & Co WHO DON’T WANT STRUCTURES!

Why are seasoned officials bogging us down with administrative blunders-
Mara Kenya/ Luo camp vs Brazilian Camp, mara sabotage, mara this, mara that.

RACHIER, NGALA, KILO, OROWE HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SOCCER ADMINISTRATORS?

1.IS THERE NO CODE OF CONDUCT AT GMFC FOR COACHES, PLAYERS, OFFICIALS, MEMBERS AFTER MORE THAN SIX YEARS IN SOCCER ADMINISTRATION.

2.WHAT TYPE OF CONTRACTS ARE BEING SIGNED AT GMFC?

1.After the Nutall saga, how can we ever be sure Ottamax is not being used?
2.Why was Rachier aloof that he will wait until the next game?
    3. With foreign coaches we should go the Mourinho/ Man. U way where even Ryan Giggs had to be shoved aside.

    Fellow Bloggers:
I suggest the from now on members during each AGM MUST committ elected officials to yearly performance contracts or targets. Failure to meet these targets should result in the automatic resignation of officials.

    1. Gor Mahia MUST qualify for a continental tournament,

    2. GMFC MUST reach at least the semi-final of CECAFA tournaments it participates in.

    3. GMFC MUST qualify for the group stages of CAF tournaments.

THREE SIMPLE CONDITIONS OR TARGETS IF YOU WANT TO BE A GOR MAHIA OFFICIAL.

I URGE FANS FOCUS ON THESES MINIMUMS AND TIE EC TO THESE TARGETS THEN THE REST WILL FOLLOWS. I.E GRAND PROJECTS LIKE OWN ETC. ALL THOSE PROMISES THEY GIVE.
NOWADAYS FANS HANDS ARE TIED IN THAT WE CAN NO LONGER “CHASE THEM AWAY” SO WE HAVE TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX TO TAKE BACK OUR BELOVED CLUB.

WITH THE 3 TARGETS ABOVE IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO TAKES OVER OR IF RACHIER & CO. REMAIN SINCE THE CONSEQUENCES OF FAILURE WILL BE AUTOMATIC.

Guys, allow the coach to do his work. If he decides Otamax is not good for him, let it be. If he decides to bench Gatusso, let it be. To run a successful team, the coach must be the most important person, followed by the fans then the players. The moment you try to make EC or Chairman or players the most important person in the team, just be ready to kiss bye to titles. Coach’s word must be final, period!! Of course when he gets the decisions wrong, there will be consequences!! Problem with many of us is that we all want to assume the role of the coach. Nutall and Boby W were successful because they were allowed full control of the team. Paul Nkata is in full control of Tusker and you can see the results. Problem with AFC is not because they have hopeless players but because someone else is making decisions and not the coach. Try that in Gor and results will be the same

    Reply
    • On the contrary I feel that Gor had good results during the earlier fixtures coz you could see that Zimaria was consulting with Ogweno even before substitution were made. Now that he drew his battle lines you can see how he does his substitutions in a very awkward way.

@ A person, I am happy to find someone who believes that Gor Mahia is not doing that badly and there is still a huge possibility in us winning the fourth consecutive title. In deed we have not played Tusker and there are a couple of matches left

    • @Pmawego, no coach in KPL has as much independence as Ze Maria. When he was appointed, Rachier said he was free to select his TB which he went ahead and did and Sandro is part of that deal. In the June window he was given the players he requested. Nobody has interfered with his powers to choose match day squads(though i think is is high time somebody did). So which control is Nkata having at Tusker that Ze Maria is lacking at Gor? No coach in Kenya has the powers to sack a fellow member of his TB and Ze Maria just did that. Which more control do you want him given? At Gor he is the most important person as you have advised, what results has he given back? So why do you think he deserves to continue as coach?

@Musyo, Ze Maria just fired (or purportedly) Ottamax. Rachier immediately says he is not aware. What do you expect. Rachier must support his coach’s action. To say he is not aware potentially leaves Ze Maria naked!! What Rachier should do is to fire Ze Maria for lack of results instead of playing poker games with us. @Musyo, from the goings on, Ze Maria is not fully in charge. His decisions are being countered by his bosses and the fans and players. He needs to be made in charge or be fired. Nothing in between. Gatusso’s and Ottamax’s comments and actions suggest that there is some powers elsewhere interfering. You don’t need special training to figure that out

What full Executive powers are this Ze maria needs to be given to deliver results on the field of play. His off-pitch shenanigans aside of firing and fighting too many battles with almost everyone in both the TB & Playing Unit, why can’t he Muster even one win in a game or create clear goal scoring opportunities? What is the sole purpose of playing soccer if not to score goals, yes losing is part of football but so is scoring and fighting thru adaptive formations when a goal down in order to get back in the game. Lethargic useless displays of one set mind that have time & again failed to give any results cannot be excused by the sideshows he is trying to create. He is solely in charge of the team, has a free hand in selecting the match day squads, has benched or relegated first 11 dependable players to the fringes as he wishes but wea are the results?Nobody had this Coach’s back more than me but as things stand i cannot continue supporting his aimless strategies and divisive demeanor that is pulling the club apart right through the middle.Since when is football played without any urgency or purpose even in a knock-out tourney?Local coaches have time & again countered him and neutralised his tactics like a lame duck, suffice to say yesterday b4 the game Nzoia United coach Bernard Mwalala said he was confident of winning if Gor plays as it has been since he was prepared and Guess What…..He did just that, won fair and square despite being denied a clear goal and second penalty.

Ja’Asego from where you are seated I am sure you are seeing the EC clique who denied us a chance to get quality players like Jean Claude Eranzi, Pierot Kwizera and Laudit Mavugo. They contributed immensely to bringing us where we are. They should receive this same flack that is directed at Ze Maria although the latter takes direct responsibility because he has driven the Tech Bench, which he heads, to work at cross purposes instead of pulling together.

Team Manager – Tobias Ochola Jua Kali

It is now time to bring the old boys that have Gor Mahia NDA in them line the above mentioned former players.

Ogweno was never a Gor Mahia player and in this regard, he has no history of Gor Mahia apart from winning the trophy with Frank Nuttal. Jolawi too was neither player nor a technical man apart from being copied in the team by the former chairman Leslie Okudo.

@joods what does Ze Maria have to show for the samba that you are supporting so much? The endless back passes and football played in our half? The draws? The objective of any football club is to win trophies regardless of the playing style. Play ugly or what you call direct football and win. If you can win with stylish football even better. But style minus trophies is bull****. The direct football gave us the title unbeaten and took us to the final of CECAFA. What do you see the samba football winning the club this season? The superior model gets the results and between direct and samba we know which one has delivered!!

It’s good to be emotional at times to make things move but the problem with us is that at times we apply emotion over logic. Our problem as it is goes beyond the TB. Our root problem is lack of proper leadership qualities at the top. AR is applying hands-off eyes-off technique. Ngala is just happy to be Gor SG while what Ferari does I cannot tell. At this point they should have released a statement to let us know what is happening.

As for Ze Maria he needs to know that pride goes before fall, having played in Milan doesnt qualify him to be the best coach, he needs to work with the locals in the TB to get results or else fail miserably and go home by November trophiless

When Zi Maria was brought in, they sang all the praises in the world even before he made his first touchline appearance. Reason should prevail here. Hiring and firing is not the solution. There is a serious problem somewhere with GMFC. We should look inside instead of outside. Stop castigating Ze Maria. The problem lies with EC.
