Rachier confident in new signings

Angelo Okumu, Simon Pierre with new signings Ali Abondo, Ronald Omino

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier is confident the new players Gor Mahia have signed will strengthen the team and will be capable replacements for the players who departed the club in 2014

“We have only lost three players; (Dan) Sserunkuma, (David) Owino and Geoffrey Kizito, yet we have signed all these lot. That makes us stronger than last season and we are now set to compete on many fronts this season,” Rachier said to the media.

However though Gor Mahia lost three players in December, they lost multiple players in June including Rama Salim, Tim Wanyonyi, Shaban Kenga and Anthony Akumu. This is on top of the players Gor Mahia lost in January. The multiple departures left Gor Mahia weakened and with virtually no bench.

Ghanaain Striker Taofiq Zakari appeared confident ahead of the 2015 season.

“I am putting all the defenders in this league on notice because I am here to score loads of goals, the instructions from the technical bench is we have to retain the league,” 20 year old Taofik, who spent the last season playing in the Middle East, warned.

Defender Bernard Odhiambo who is a younger brother to the recently departed David Owino “Calabar” was also happy at joining the club.

“This is the best move for me at this time of my career, the exposure and fresh challenge will improve me. I cannot just wait to get started” Odhiambo said to the Nation. Odhiambo will be hard pressed to emulate his brother’s performances.

Still in the squad are Innocent Mutiso and Charles Bruno who had earlierbeen reported to be leaving. The two will be assessed by coach Frank Nuttall.

The club’s coach Frank Nuttal was surprisingly absent at the unveiling ceremony despite being in the country. There is speculation that Nuttall, who is yet to sign a new contract at the club, had informally been approached by Tanzanian outfit Simba SC. The bothersome Simba SC are always hovering around Gor Mahia coaches like vultures. However this could also be a ploy by Nuttall’s agent to get him a better deal.

Guys, as we rebuild and stabilize our house let’s pray for our shemejis to come to their senses and give some hope to the players and technical bench. As it is it’s like a car without a driver. @Ingo and @Ben Disi can now see that money can also be a source of distabilisation.
In their web site the Ingwe fans are wondering how the Gor EC is going about their business with all the crises in the team.
On another note looks like we might release Emuge and bring in Abbas from Muhoroni. As fans nothing much we can do exept to wish all newcomers and leavers the best in their careers. Like Abondo and Gattusso you can still find yourself in Gor in the near future.

  • This is good. I am also sure some of the players have now realised Gor is providing the perfect arena to ‘show your wears’, fact that Simba fc have now literary turned Gor Mahia into some sort of Nakumatt. This is now happening in even as far as Zambia. Soon even European clubs will start shopping at Gor Supermarket. All this is welcome. My advice to players is that you work hard, market yourself and help the Gor brand coz thru’ you the future stars will also look at Gor as the club to play for. As I have always said its Gor mahia that will lift the Kenya scene, not Harambee stars. By the time Gor starts getting into the last 8 in Africa Club Champions the Kenyan scene would have totally changed. Thanx to Uhuru Kenyatta for your support. The others like Raila et Nyamweya your support is acknowledged even though sometimes it will look that we take it for granted. Your support is highly appreciated coz you have been there when Gor was in dooldrums. For the Gor player, emulate Ja Shiratti… do not rush into shady teals and trials that get you nowhere, when they came for Owino, there was no need for trials. Wish you all the best, I expect good times, wonders, bad times and nightmares but i will stay with you.

But do not take Keli, he shunned us last year while rushing for Ingwe.Reminds me “what goes round always comes around”. Retain Mutiso unconditionally.
To my fellow supporters, you need three things this year and all the time:
    1. DISCIPLINE
    2. DISCIPLINE
    3. DISCIPLINE.
That is what will make us good in the eyes of any sponsor. Like I hear we might get one soon, lets be good.

higuys, i think signings are good and each of them should give the best.
and i as much as we wait for potential sponsor we shold do something as fans.Tony Anelka let us not wait for the crisis to raise funds.let us organise fir a meeting of the willing so that we talk to chairman to allow us take over the membership drive to be managed by fans but cash to be deposited to the clubs account.
    like this
each member to give ksh3000 and a monthly subcription of 500 and for this membership card be issued .this will entitle members to free entry for home matches.if we can get 10000 members then this will sum up to 30000000 shillings + 500*10000*12=110000000 why do we need to pay gate collections when we ccan plan ourself like this.
pls Tony Anelka contact me @0721407456

Brookside through Molo Milk are the new sponsors. Thanks to Prezo for living to his word.
Now the burden is on to us to act in a way worth the sponsorship. NO TO HOOLIGANISM and all those steroetyping of others.

I wholly disagree with number 6 jathur gi ji.
We should not hold grudges against players who shunned the team before. I would even take Lavatsa back if he can play. Remember he served the club well. But players have to pursue the best offer. They only have about 5 years to make money. Once injuries kick in, their career is finished.

  • News just in ! It’s too early to call……there are 2 parastatals for further discussions, brookside and a top media station owned by the state house family.

Reliable sources further confirm that nothing much was concluded but there is still work to be done from both sides as the agreement must be mutually beneficial. There is a lot of hope and we should possibly close the deal in 3 weeks.

    Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

I hope the league does not start in 3 weeks. Knowing some Kogalo fans, they will misbehave before 3 weeks has passed.

how I wish those fools calling themselves ko’ogalo fans can behave this time. it’s take a lot of sacrifice from the EC to look for the sponsors while they are waiting on wings to Ponce with their berberic behaviors .on this one, let me commend the EC for a job well done. an for the great minds, let’s not forget with Sacco plan. it’s more stable if realized than short term fixes. blessed
