Who are CR Belouizdad

Defender Charles Momanyi and Bernard Ondiek tussle with Jacque Tuyisenge

Having beaten APR of Rwanda 4-3 on aggregate, Gor Mahia will now face off with Algerian representatives Chabab Riadhi de Belouizdad. The first leg will be played during the week of December 22.

The reigning Algerian champions beat Al Nasr of Libya, 4-0 on aggregate, winning both home and away legs by a score of 2-0.

The Libyan side were at a huge disadvantage. Firstly there has not been an active Libyan league for two seasons due to the civil war. Thus the Libyans were short on match practise. Secondly the Libyans had to play their home leg away in Cairo, Egypt rather than in their home-ground of Benghazi. The goals in Cairo were scored by Algerian Shaib Kaddad while the second goal was an own goal by an Al Nasr player.

CR Belouizidad are based in the Belouizidad section of Algiers and play their home games in the Stade 20 Août 1955.

CR Belouizidad were declared champions of the 2019-2020 seasons when the Algerian league was suspended due to Covid 19. At the time, they were leading the league with 40 points from 11 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses. Their most famous win a 3-0 victory over perennial giants JS Kabylie. It was their 7th Algerian league title with the previous one having coming in the year 2000.

Their squad comprises entirely of Algerians with the exceptions being Benin international Marcellin Koukpo and Belgian international Maecky Ngombo.

The first time faced off with an Algerian side, it was under coach Dylan Kerr in May 2018. They recorded a 0-0 draw in Nairobi before losing 2-1 in Algiers. In February 2019 under Hassan Oktay, Gor Mahia recorded a memorable 2-0 win over NA Hussein Dey before losingf controversially 1-0 in Algiers. The last encounter with an Algerian side was a disaster. In September 2019, Gor Mahia went down 4-1 to USM Alger in Algiers before losing 2-0 in Nairobi to USM Alger.

Gor Mahia seeking assistance from fans

Meanwhile club treasurer Dolfina Odhiambo is asking fans to pitch in and help the club financially. She says this is largely due to the lack of gate proceeds.

“We need all your support,” Odhiambo wrote on her social media pages. “K’Ogalo lovers, we worked so hard to have KBC air Gor Mahia vs APR match, I hope you did not just watch for free but sent at least a VIP ticket amount on the club paybill for tickets and membership 350100.

“[VIP is normally Ksh500 while VVIP is Ksh1000), may we kindly motivate the boys, the money will go a long way to clear their salary arrears bearing in mind we can’t sell tickets and have attendance in the matches yet.”

  • Madam Treasurer,
Please note “Chinese accounting” is not acceptable.
    Your report is very amateurish.
You are being selective on what income and expenses to report on and that does not present a true and fair view of the club’s financial position.
    1) Where is the kes.3 million from FKF?
    2) Where is the kes.27.5 million from Betsafe that Rachier says the sponsor has paid?

Either as Treasurer you are not privy to all the financial going ons at the club or you are intentionally misleading fans/members.

Then again perhaps you were “elected” for a post you’re not qualified for and the chickens have come home to roost. Your unsuitability for the post is showing in your low quality financial reports.

    • As much as you ‘love’ Gor, kindly inform us how reliable your sources are and how you came to possess such ‘detailed’ information… since you are more privy.
Why are you bitter with Dolfina “election”? Why don’t you tell us how she was rigged in. Why is she suddenly unqualified? Why didn’t you vie for the post?
      You sound too bitter.
What Dolfina posted a simple summary expenditure as per the first leg match in Rwanda.
The important thing is that the trip was effectively paid for and no debt was risen.

        Reliable sources are the media.
        1) Rachier himself stated during the launch of Betsafe that “they” had received half of the 2020/21 sponsorship monies that is kes.27.5 million.
        2) FKF stated that they had given GMFC kes.3 million. The Secretary General confirmed the same. The treasurer has not disputed this.

Now anyone with rudimentary financial training or experience knows that you make financial reports for a period i.e yearly, quarterly, monthly or even weekly
One does not make a financial report for events since you will omit certain income & expenses, hence produce a doctored report.

If you include the above 2 inflows it means the Treasurer’s balance shoots to kes. 30+ million.
But she may have also omitted some expenses.
The offshoot is that the report is inaccurate since it does not capture all the income and expenses for the period since she became treasurer.
        Facts and figures don’t lie.

That report falls shorts in that the income, expenses and balances of the club are misreported.
It’s the usual trick of understating income so as to appeal for more funding.
So much for one who promised to be accountable and transparent.

That financial report is meant to highlight that Rachier contributed kes.75,000 but it miserably fails in its attempt to distract that the same Rachier using Ngala withdrew kes.20 million from the club’s account.

Kenyans elected Mike Sonko to be governor of Nairobi on the basis of hype not competence and the consequences are there for all to see.
Similarly Rachier campaigned for the current GMFC Treasurer and now his contributions are highlighted but his withdrawals are muted.

Politics ASIDE: where is the money (3M) given to the club by Footbal Kenya Federation? The difference between KPL chairman and FKF chairman should not be allowed to cripple the club. Madam Treasurer: We need money. What was the outstanding balance when you took office? It is a surprise that a big club like Gor Mahia has financial of just Ksh. 29,000 to spend. I am willing to throw whatever I can through GMAF but accountability is our undoing.

Somebody please tell Dolfina that such a financial statement with no details and no auditing by an independent third party auditor is highly inadequate especially in light of the revelations by Ocholla that Ngala and Rachier have been up to no good. Imagine Ngala still being a signatory to Gor Mahia accounts?

Those versed in financial matters refer to it as “cooking the books”.
One way is to understate or omit some incomes so that a reduced balance is reflected.
The small balance then justifies the call for more contributions or in the business world reflects a reduced profit hence tax liability.
The above financial statement is definitely COOKED!
