Williamson urges fan support

Coach Bobby Williamson is determined to make a mark at Gor Mahia after getting his tenure off to a great start with a 2-0 win over Chemelil Sugar at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.

Williamson also explained why he accepted the K’Oogalo job saying the passion of the fans and the directors gave him the motivation to take up the offer and promised to help guide Gor to greater heights.

He urged the passionate fans to always give 100 percent support to all the players even when they face low moments in a match as it would be motivational to the entire team.

“I am delighted to be in this great club with so many passionate fans and management. I am also very happy that Gor has so many talented players who can fit in any big stage. People might question why I did not play Dan Sserunkuma but it’s important to know that I have nothing against him as he is a superb player. Kiongera was in superb form and it definitely shows me that he has to start again on Sunday.”

“I feel it is important for the fans to be supportive of every player even when they don’t perform according to expectations as this helps to bring motivation in the team. I don’t know many Kenyan Premier League teams but I will definitely take one game at a time as I learn more of our opponents,” Williamson told supersport.com.

”I have urged all the players to work hard and given them an assurance that they are all part of my plans meaning anybody who impresses will be given a chance to play as we have many matches still pending,” he added.

Williamson who hails from Scotland took over from sacked Croat Zdravko Logarusic after having coached Uganda Cranes for five years during which he won four Cecafa Senior Challenge trophies.

Much thanks to the executive & TB for blending an outfit of playing unit that resembles the face of kenyan nation and East African community at large. Unlike the other small team and very “noisy-neighbor” indeed who solely believes in players from a certain community and a particular clan to be precise.

    1. LUO-NYANZA [Jerry, Calabar,, Erico]
    2. KISII-NYANZA [ Mosoti-“AFUANDE”]
    3. MOUNT KENYA-CENTRAL [Pablo, Kiongera]
    4. COASTAL PROVINCE [Rama]
    5. WESTERN KENYA [Lavatsa, Wekesa, Nasio]
    9. EASTERN KENYA [Mutiso-“Wiper”]
    10. UGANDA [Emuge, Anguyo, Sserekuma]
    11. TANZANIA [Ma-donkey]

With Bobby odiero, we are definitely headed for some great and historical moments, however, as regards yesterday’s good performance, all credit must be given where it is due and that is to Sir Bobby. Rateng wuod Ogolla has worked hard round the clock to recreate the Gor Mahia philosophy and we have seen the team improve with every game. Yesterday’s was the culmination of his efforts. Bobby odiero admitted himself that he was using yesterday’s match to learn his boy’s capabilities, so we need to be patient before we appreciate the full effects of his presence which I am sure will send some “noisy small teams” into a panic.

  • @BB, in as much as i agree that we should give credit to the 6 million $ man, don’t tell me you never noticed the defensive strategy which was new. Yesterday, the set-up was perfect for Akumu. The last time we used it Viera tormented defenders left, right and centre under Mzee Awono.

Future opponents need to be afraid. Very afraid.

Gentlemen, the team is ripe for bigger tornaments. The quality in the four departments i.e Ec, T.b, p.u and fans not forgeting Tuzo is wonderful. For the last three cosecutive seasons we played an un beaten second leg if we can repeat it this season then Im looking forward to celebrate in a unique fashion. let me for a second time ask the Tb to find a way of giving players equal chances during selections. The whole squad is good to the extent that unless for obvious case of injury a player will feel jilted if not fielded.

Look , the league is won by beating the ‘minnows’ and we have done that successfully in the 1st half….. in the 2nd half of the league we just have to beat Tusker, Thika United, Ulinzi and Sofapaka and we are home and dry.

I repeat , this time, League marwa !!!!!!!

We don’t need to look far. We are a perfect example of buying the baby’s clothes before it’s born. So let’s do everything in moderation. The truth is that all of us inside feel that this year we stand a good chance of winning the league. The only problem is that we have 15 more matches to play and let’s remember that in the last few years we have had very good 2nd leg runs. What if another team (God forbid) has a better run than us? So let’s keep our feet on the ground as we keep our heads high

@ Dan Original, very spot ON. And the team that will do the damage is non other than EFUSI, cause they are also on fire.As we aim to remain at the summit let us also acknowledge that IT IS NOT YET OVER and the actual title contenders will be known after playing 12 more league matches. Do not write off the defending champions yet.

@7 dont u ever compare Gor with Efusi. If u r a K’ogalo fan then u should know that gor is always a 2nd leg team & statistics proves that.Last season we started 2nd leg at no.11 and we finished no.2.so we cannot be compared with Efusi at all cost. It dpends on who is who where.U cant say that Efusi players r better than Gor players.Likewise u cant say that Eymael is better than Bobby williamson. In this TPL it is Gor with the best players in all departments. Gor has the best Coach in this region.

hmmmm, this is a classic case of counting our chicks before they hatch.Dint we ever learn our lesson last season??…..THIKA UTD!!!!!

Michael@12…history counts for nothing.Just because we have played well in the last 2 seasons does not necessarily mean we will this season!!

Lets not celebrate just yet…as rightfully said by the coach himself.Instead lets brace ourselves for the battle ahead and hope for the best!!!

for me i will only be celebrating when we finish tops….not before!!!

Guys all teams have at least 14 games to go and only 8 points separate the leaders from the tenth team in the log. 8 points is nothing with 14 matches to go. Even the 10th team still has a very good chance of clinching the championship. How much will it cost us as fans to adapt a cautious one-match-at-a-time approach? Our cultural undoing is our inability to manage our emotions including excitement. We simply get too overconfident.

  • To all kogalo fans lets work together to uplift the club by attending all kogalo matches, this is the only way we can help the team, publish kogalo magazines this also another way of promoting our KDF
