Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute to ensure K’Ogalo finished at the top of the log with 39 points. The goal came after a series of missed chances in the first half.

On resumption, Gor Mahia maintained their offensive tempo and were the first to be awarded a corner but Ali Abondo failed to find the back of the net after out jumping his markers. Three minutes into the second half another of Abondo’s effort went past the Tusker goal.

But in the 54th minute, Michael Olunga should have put his side ahead after he headed well from an Ali Abondo free-kick. The ball hit a Tusker defender and went out for a fruitless corner as Gor Mahia unsuccessfully pleaded for a penalty. The under pressure brewers then rested Ronnie Osumba for Ronald Musana.

Gor Mahia on the other hand rested injured Godfrey Walusimbi for Innocent Wafula. The Ugandan international had been hacked down by Tusker defender Jockins Atudo, who was duly booked for the offense. Gor Mahia’s Khalid Aucho was also booked.

Martin Musalia was a busy man in the Tusker goal and at the hour mark reacted well and quickly to keep out Meddie Kagere’s diving header. It was the fourth time Gor Mahia were exposing the Tusker backline boosting of some of the most experienced players locally.

The Tusker goalkeeper could however, not do much when Meddie Kagere jumped to head home a 78th minute effort from Khalid Aucho. The goal brought the Moi Stadium in Kisumu to a thunderous applause as Gor Mahia ended the first leg with their unbeaten run intact. The result also meant K’Ogalo goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch kept a tenth clean sheet of the season.

Apart from a free-kick late in the match, the brewers were a major disappointment and made no effort to threaten Gor Mahia backline. It was yet another poor show by the brewers, who have to go back to the drawing board ahead of the second leg and reassess their performance.

It is just so owesome to see kogalo crushing into victory match after match winning all the games in fist leg and only having three draws with no loss is great…no wonder fans from other clubs are willing to award any player from any team that will be the first to stop kogalo. Let’s go the mighty k’ogalo

  • Kimanzi lost the game before kickoff with his negative defensive formation. Not to take away from Kogallo who played like the undisputed champions they are. Nowadays i wish Gor can play for 180 minutes. 90 is underdosing me. Oooooh this boy Karim…………. what do i do with you?????????

Ooh Laa la..!! GOR MAHIA DOMINANCE IS DETRIMENTAL TO KPL 2015 GROWTH

With that kind of goals and points difference after first round of KPL 2015 am worried about the competitiveness of this KPL 2015 league. Gor being a team with both the entire first eleven and substitutes making it to their counties national team, an attacking force that has netted 30 goals and concede only 6 goals, a defense and goalkeeping that has ten straight clean sheets. We need to re- evaluate KPL. There is something terrible wrong with this league. This scenario will not help in developing a competitive worth vein sponsored by “TUSKER”.

  • I return all the glory and honor to the Almighty God for the sweet victory in the mighty name of Jesus Christ…Amen.

I would like to thank the players, technical bench led by Prof. Frank Nuttal, fans that thronged the Kisumu Moi Stadium and the Executive Committee led by our Chairman Mr. Ambrose Rachier. Guys keep it up.

Kazi tulitekeleza. Brewkenge tumempiga. Hongera vijana.

  • I foresee a situation whereby Gor Mahia might win the league in the next 7 matches. Already the competitiveness of the kpl is in doubt after being exposed by Gor. We cannot have a team having a goal difference of more than 20 goals and leading by more than 10 points, a team leading unbeaten while bottom half teams merely surviving. As much as it is exciting to fans it is also sinister to our league and national team. This weak league has been exposed by signing of foreign players who are more competitive than local ones and that is a good problem. It could also be that Professor Frank Nutal is a real professor of soccer. Or maybe it might be a combined factor of pressure from fans or complete dedication from players. Whichever way you look at it, Gor is taking the league unbeaten because there is no competition for Gor in the kpl. Congratulations!!

thanks to God for another sweet victory,i just plead with fans not to invade the playing ground before players vacate, the players had to leave the ground sprinting to avoid the huge crowd that was following them, remember these players are tired at that moment and also need to strech before they head to changing rooms
