Gor Mahia renews rivalry with Tusker

Gor Mahia will continue with their defence of the KPL Top 8 tournament when they take on rivals Tusker  in the first leg match of the KPL Top 8 semi-final at the Nyayo National Stadium at 4.15pm.
The two sides also met at this stage in 2015. Gor Mahia came away victors, winning 4-3 on aggregate. The first leg ended 2-2 with Abondo and Kagere scoring for Gor Mahia. The second leg ended 2-1 with Olunga grabbing both goals.

George Awoko, an assistant coach at Tusker insists that Tusker are very confident after having beaten Kogalo 1-0 in April in a Sportpesa Premier league clash.

“Our confidence level is very high and the boys are in good shape and eager to play,” Awoko said.

The official further insisted that midfielder Humphrey Mieno is in the right frame of mind to play despite interest from the defending champions. “Mieno is still our player and we will not release him until we achieve our season’s target, which is to win the Premier League title. “He is one of our key players. He has shown good attitude in training and we know he will fight for the team today,” added Awoko.

One player whom KPL fans will be eager to watch is Brazilian Thiago Lima Da Silva. However his paperwork is incomplete and thus cannot be fielded yet.

“We are currently working on documents required by the player and the coach is also not in a hurry to use the player,” said Ronald Ngala.

However the other new signings, Baron Oketch and Wellington Ochieng are raring to go.
“Gor Mahia is a strong team that has been home to some of the country’s most notable footballers. In the last four years they have had some very good strikers and I want to be like them. I want to score as many goals as I can for the team and make a good impression,” I know that there are some talented players here but I think that to become the best you have to best the best.” said Oketch to the KPL website.

  • Hi,mambo ya paperwork is always an issue even in CAF. Are Aucho and Sibomana back? Now I politely request Jasego to highlight Ssentongo’s availability to EC. As for discipline he can’t be any worse off than bad boy “Gatusso” or the ever increasingly unsettled Aucho. As for national team stats, hehehe, where is does Thiago feature in the Brazilian National team’s pecking order or for that matter Keli/Agwanda in Harambee Stars. Update us on the JaBurundi midfielder coz brewkenge are playing hard ball with Mieno, Aucho’s stay is becoming ever so precarious and Thiago “is not to be rushed”. Thx God we finally have someone on the inside coz what fails GM is structures e.g can’t the paperwork be forwarded electronically/by fax, are there any punitive action to deter players from reporting back late, after winning the league everything GM usually goes into hibernation thus we’re totally embarrassed in CAF. Surely “bloated” EC led by Jakom has been in the game too long to allow these repeated errors. K’GALO WIN 4 US

  • This is not the first time Aucho is not coming back after internationals when we really need him. That should be handled once and for all. Anyway I am one of the few who believe that Wendo nyale.

  • Sibomana is back, jetted in on Thursday evening,as for Aucho, well lets just say typical behavior of a player keen on leaving,if Rangers tables an offer we will just accept and move on by bringing another equally good ‘Ngolo Kante’ from Burundi.Hehe @ Oduor12 review my comment i said national team stats inform signings within EA not globally or locally,as in to move around the region any team prides itself if such a player dons his national team colours ever so often…

    • Btw I do appreciate the route you’ve taken woud ma, sticking your neck out for the good of our beloved K’galo instead of the “apparent” collective conspiracy of opaqueness that usually shrouds our bloated EC.Now surely EC, why are you holding EAfricans to high standards which drastically lowered for locals (would be understandable for a young player but not for a seasoned one) and yet even more so lower it to rock bottom for global players, that’s why Thiago’s paper work will take long you can’t trace his record even on the internet. Evidently this lowers the standards of the club look at Jausenge and his partners while Marcelo has matched his partners. I restate personally i don’t care where a GM player comes from so long he performs. Am also uneasy with these AFC DNA bench warmers deep inside our midst, akina to Samson & Delilah/Luanda Magere & his beautiful young Nandi wife. Now that they are unable to make the first team (one was even captain of our biggest rivals) where is their real loyalty come derby.

Every footballer has a resident maggot in his brain, however, that is not the problem. One maggot within a human brain is NOT a ticking time bomb because in most cases the maggot is in a state of hibernation. A hibernating maggot does not announce its presence through some overt antisocial, rebellious or defiant behaviour displayed by the maggot’s host (the footballer). The maggot’s hibernation period varies from footballer to footballer depending on the length of ‘the winter season’ in each footballer’s brain.

I will give more insight into this ‘maggot matter’ after our game against Brewkenge, For now, Tunayo kazi moja tu, Tunayo kazi moja……..Kazi ni kumpiga Brewkenge……Sababu ya kumpiga tunalo, uwezo wa kumpiga tunao na niya ya kumpiga tunayo. Tunayo kazi moja tu tunayo kazi moja!

      • That was a commendable job by the boys. Beating Tusker2-0, and more so without Aucho, Walusimbi, Blackberry and Bonny in the line up is no mean feat. This means that the team has a strong depth in the bench. Tusker fielded a strong squad. I hope hope this victory will not make them complacent.

  • Saleh is only in K’galo bcoz coach wa paka turned down his overtures! He wanted out of K’galo now that the cat can afford him and made no secret of it, is that commitment? Anyway today Ze Maria “AMENINYAMAZISHA KABISA” if this continues then i will gladly join the bandwagon singing at the top of my voice wachana coach he knows best na kazi ya mafans ni kusupport coz kazi ya coach na players was evident today,

O’wise a very elating all round performance yesterday. Thats the mark of a true champion. Now Burukenge have to beat us by a margin of 3 goals in the return leg. Which they can only do over Kogalo dead bodies.
