Gor Mahia transfer news December 22

The earlier announcement that Geoffrey Walusimbi and Musa Mohamed had signed on to extend their stay at Gor Mahia was rubbished by both players after they announced through various media outlets that the deal had not been completed. It turns out that the deal is not complete because the sign on bonus has not been paid.

“We have had a chat with them, and we have reached an agreement concerning salary and signing fee which is yet to be paid. Once we pay them that then we are good to go, they have signed verbally. You know nowadays without the signing fee we cannot complete deals. The good thing is that we have reached an agreement for them to stay.” said club official Ronald Ngala to goal.com

This puts Gor Mahia in a difficult position due to the club’s penchant for signing players to short term deals. It means each time a player renews his contract, he must be paid a bonus.

Meanwhile Gor Mahia are pursuing former Mathare United coach Stanley Okumbi to replace the departing Bobby Ogolla.

“After Ogolla (Bobby) resigned, the Gor Mahia management believe Okumbi (Stanley) is the best man to replace him. Most of the officials have always admired Okumbi and always wanted to work with him but he has been tied up at Mathare United. Now that he is free, the opportunity is there to work with him,” said a club official to Gor Mahia.

Okumbi has impressed as Mathare United coach. At one point he was even touted as a possible replacement for Zdravko Logarusic when the Croatian went AWOL.

I see no issue to pull hairs about here. All things looks like they are going as per plan. We need a stronger team for the CAF championship unless this year

  • THE CLUB IS SRUGGLING TO PAY PLAYERS AND TB, WHY THEN HIRING THREE COACHES? WORLDWIDE THERE IS COACH AND ASSISTANT BUT AT GOR THERE ARE DEPUTY COACH, ASSIST. COACH AND GOAL-KEEPER TRAINER, WHILE THERE IS NO MONEY TO PAY THEM IN TIME? EMPLOY THE NUMBER THAT YOU CAN SUSTAIN PERIOD.

@Achacha, where do you get your facts that worldwide there is a coach and assistant? My friend there are coaches and trainers as well that handle different departments such as goal keeping, physical fitness, defense, etc. these comes at cost and this why we have to continue supporting our team financially, morally, spiritually etc.

It is not expensive as entertainment is the biggest source of big money. Our problem at Gor Mahia is just poor organization with visionless and joyriding officials. Fans and bloggers have proposed several ways of turning Gor Mahia around financially but none of the officials including the chairman is ready to support such worthy course.

These officials just opt for handout mechanisms where there are no accountability and transparency. Handouts through Harambees will not help the club in the long term.

I agree with Achacha. The club does not need many assistants. If they already have Ouna and Ottamax, why hire another coach? This season the club went six months without paying some of the coaches.

Guys the days of one coach taking care of defense, midfield, goalkeeping, fitness etc are long gone. The moment we start the CAF campaign you will be surprised at how many coaches assist on the bench of a team like Zamalek, TP Mazembe etc. We will struggle to pay but in the end we will pay and at one time in the future we will get a sponsor and we will have already set up the structures.
But as @Jamigori puts it the EC has been unable to mobilize the fans to end this financial nightmare. Many fans are willing to take part in an organized outfit to make the club self-sustaining but there is no direction from the EC. I thought one of them would take the bull by the horns and run away with this initiative to relieve the pressure from the Chairman and other financers.

Gattusso to leave Gor because of unpaid dues. As much as he is entitled to his dues and which should be paid I think he is bad influence. Courtesy demands at times that if you are leaving you don’t burn the bridges as you might need them on your way back. I hope he goes to Bandari where he might play continental football and get some limelight. Else he will just fade as Gor has a way of bringing the best out of even ordinary players

Gattuso wants to behave the same way he behaved in 2012. He even purported that he had left football. Later on he joined Sofapaka, then Mathare finally Tusker. When Kimanzi was appointed Tusker coach, he left saying he was not in good terms with Kimanzi. He stayed in the cold until Gor Mahia signed him in June last year to replace Akumu and rehabilitated him. He even made it back to the national team. Sasa analeta kichwa tena. Isokei
