Gor Mahia transfer news December 26

Talks between the club and Michael Olunga have stalled. Olunga’s  contract with the club expires before the end of the year. But Olunga’s demands are more than what the club can pay at this point.

“The player’s initial offer was in the region of Sh5 million as sign on fees to enable him remain with us for another year. That figure is unrealistic, not because he isn’t worth it, but we don’t have that kind of money,” says a source to the Nairobi News.

Olunga was recently voted Kenya player of the year and was the leading scorer in Kenya in all competitions at club and national level. He has attracted interest from clubs as far north as Raja Casablanca of Morocco and as far south as Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

A report on goal.com suggests that coach Frank Nuttall has suggested releasing striker Enock Agwanda.

“Nuttall believes he does not need Agwanda and since he is still young, it is better to release him. However, some in the club management don’t agree and so we have to wait and see,” says a source to goal.com.

Agwanda has proven to be a useful substitute for the club. With his immense strength, has proven to be a handful for tiring defenders when introduced in the second half. His long throws reminiscent of Tobias Ocholla have yielded several goals. But Agwanda has been dissastified with his role as a sub and has been pushing for a starting role.

With Olunga unlikely to stay, Kagere undecided and Agwanda’s future uncertain and with Timothy Otieno having left for Posta Rangers,  Gor Mahia’s striking cadre looks precarious.

Yeah, Olunga is worth more than that. Well, he is ambitious, good for him, but realistically Kogallo cannot afford him. Bye bye Olunga, wish you the best and we really had great memories of you omera.

Olunga my broda, Gor players never succeed when they leave the club. Look ar Ssere, Rama, Kiongera, Ade, Masika, wanyonyi ,Dawo ,Blackberry etc. The ONLY Gor player who has perforfed decently is Carlaba. I would say the odds of you succeeding away from Gor are slim to bone. Take 1.5 million signing bonus build a house in bondo and continue playing for Gor my friend

If that is the case then I think we can forget about Engineer. For team cohesion it’s good not to be seen not to be having a favourite player. The goodness with Gor is that we create the players so I still believe we will have another Olunga but we should never succumb to blackmail

He Is A Very Good Player Yes But He Still Need Atleast One Year To Mature And Polish His Scoring Skills In The Local League He Should Not Be In A Hurry In Several Occations He Has Been Missing Very Clear Chances Which Will Not Be Tolareted In Those Clubs He Wants To Go Just He Said That One Week Trial Is Not Sufficient To Judge A Player The Same Should Apply Now Anyway If He Wish And Insist On Living Then He Should Be Released And Be Adviced To Look For Peter ‘Omuga’ Dawo For Some Talk Wish Him All The Best

@blogger…just because calvince played well against us doesn’t mean we necessarily have to buy him…he may turn out to be another Ezekiel Odera…am certain there are better strikers than him out there!!

Now Kagere also demands kshs 5m to extend his contract. Unless these are sensational reporting then there must be something wrong. Personally if that’s the case then we have many local and cheaper strikers from here and UG who can sign for less. Unfortunately some of the players don’t appreciate how much Gor has done to their careers.
As far as I know e can still struggle and win locally, but internationally it is a tall order

@Oga, sawa nimetulia but looks like we are going the way of EPL where if you want player then a team like Chelsea or ManCity comes along to hike the price then leave the player with no possible suitor. The money these players allegedly demand (since they are allegations for now) even a multimillion company like KBL or Bandari will not pay. Anyway we have to fit the suit according to the size of cloth we have. From what I hear we are also on the trail of some upcoming players from Green Commandoes. That’s the way to go though we need to blend them with some experience. By the way is Gor a victim of its success?

  • These players are in business pay or let them go don’t bring in feelings if am good pay for my value we need an EC that understands very clearly that footbal is big business period.
Any player who has performed in Kogalo and has a finished contract must be allowed to leave no hard feelings as a Kogalo fan. If Kogalo is broke then we have option maybe we will live like arsenal for some time.

Yes @Collins, I am in total support of your countdowns lest someone say that “we forgot” or “we overlooked”. Elsewhere in the media, Chairman Rachier is reported to have met the two ex-Green Commandos youngsters for talks on possible signing. These are the same youngsters tha @Dan Original refers. This worries me because I believe that there should be task forces in the bloated Gor Mahia cabinet that are charged with various responsibilities…..For instance, the Chairman should be in a task force that is concerned with sourcing for sponsorship and development rather than recruitment and new signings. This should ideally be left to the Tech Bench, which then begs the question “in which task force shall we assign The Basic Assistant Secretary, The Gross Assistant Secretary and Net Assistant Secretary?” With so many officials, Gor Mahia should be able to multitask comfortably without any oversights nor ommisions.

We have Chrispinus Oduor of KCB as well as aother Oduor from Sony. In Gor you come as an ordinary player you leave a star. What you do with the statue we give you s upto you. We also have some good players from Nakuru Allstars. From the time the late Okumu, Bonventure Maruti, BB, Ssere, Viera, Owino etc left but the team grew stronger I am not worried. Ask yourself how many good players out there would like to play for Gor? One player I would wish for Gor is Humphrey Mieno. With that talent at Gor we can do a lot.

@Barefoot that’s the query I always ask. What is the role of Ngala, Pesa, Anima et al. At least during Aduda’s time as the CEO we got bread deal, Chase Bank deal, Joma deal etc. How about now?

Gor Mahia shud not be afraid to let the let any go. One question these guys need ask themselves is why aren’t they playing in Europe yet or North Africa for that matter. Gor is now giving them the golden chance in 2016.
S.Africa is the easiest market to join. The mere fact that your asked to go for trials shud tell you one thing – YOUR NOT good enough! Ask yourself why Harambee stars is lagging at position 186.
Gor Mahia shud not engage itself in paying or trying to recruit such players unless SUCH players can GUARANTEE the club a semi-finals place in African Champions club-2016. Gor Mahia has every right to demand for a return to it’s investment.
My honest opinion is that the current Gor squad cannot make it to the group stages in Africa Champions 2016.(unless some very gud recuitments are done) Gor needs another replica of the first team players, sitting at the bench to make any noticeable impact in Africa. Azam clearly showed us where we were.
Gor Mahia is so far giving the alternative root that Harambee stars has failed to do. Olunga for example should take note of one major factor…He has done well in Gor coz of the better quality brought in by the foreign legion. He shud take his time and convince scouts from serious clubs in N. Africa and Europe that with better support he can score goals. The best place to do this is during the Gor campaign in Africa.
But I can also challenge them to leave Gor, in Kenya soccer you will not go far…the rest of the clubs remain mediocre in nature, Tusker for example has no interest beyond the east Africa borders. This is the same to Ulinzi which in my opinion is not even a football club.
    My advice to Gor Players;
    a) Unless ur joining serious clubs with serious African agendas like Simba, Azam Elmereik, then stay in Gor.
    b) The fact that these clubs have not come for you… make them regret.

Good players are never called for trials.

Gor on the other hand should watch out for ME-TOOs who want to join the club simply coz of the African scene the club has presented.

I dont see olunga and kagere flourishing member in a serious club. Remembrr rama salim and Dan sserenkuma? Well they are all in Kenya trying to rrevive their football career. …..why can’t EC consider them instead.

  • Given Olungas age, 5 million is a bargain, but not for a 1 year contract, for that amount he Ghost should relenquish all stakes he has on him and he should sign for us for at least three years, that way we can sell him at a profit like 10-15 million if he shines in CAF champions league, the team that buys him can even loan him back to us if he still cant break into the first team or needs to continue with his studies.

  • For Kagere, because he is older and has limited scope of moving he can be convinced to take between 1.8-3 million payable in installments depending on the number of appearances and goals he scores and also sign 3 year contract, we can put a 5 million buyout clause in the contract
