Finally Edwin Lavatsa will be given a chance to prove his worth when Kenya takes on Malawi in a world cup qualifier on Friday. Though the match is a formality, its a chance for every player selected to burnish their credentials. When Kenya played Nigeria, many lamented coach Amrouche’s decision to leave Lavatsa on the bench and instead rely on Kepha Aswani and one Stephen Waruru who eventually gave away the ball that cost Kenya the game.

Lavatsa played extremely well during the 2012 CECAFA cup and scored in the final. David Owino is the other Gor Mahia player who has been selected. In form goalkeeper Jerry “Jagoal” Onyangowill likely not see any action

Kenya:

Duncan Ochieng, David Owino, Mulinge Ndetto, David Ochieng, Brian Mandela, Patrick Osiako, Francis Kahata, Edwin Lavatsa, Peter Opiyo, Jamal Mohammed, Andrew Murunga

Subs; Wilson Obungu, Fredrick Onyango, Edwin Wafula, Abdulatiff Omar, Ali Bhai, Jockins Atudo, Paul Were, Mungai Kiongera

  • Lavatsa, this is your chance to seal your place in the starting eleven. With Oliech almost retiring i believe you should fight for that slot.

Elsewhere, goal.com reports some great news that the EC and our sponsors Tuzo are close to striking a good three year deal on sponsorship.

I would like to state my total support for the move which is in the right direction and encourage the sponsors also to try and be more proactive. Take a look at what Coca Cola or Breweries does where they put their money. Get an exciting team to work with Kogalo. One idea i have is to pick Jaro Soja as a brand ambassador who can visit all schools and market Tuzo products.

  • here is my one cent comment on sponshorship deals for GOR MAHIA or any team in Africa that is struggling to make money……….1
    1. LET THE SPONSORS PAY THE TECHNICAL BENCH AND PLAYERS SALARY ONLY.
2.PLAYER AND TECHNICAL BENCH ALLOWANCES SHOULD BE ‘PERFORMANCE BASED’ AND PEGGED TO GATE COLLECTIONS AFTER MATCHES.
    3. KEEP THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE LEAN – ONLY 1 CHAIRMAN, ONLY ONE ORGANISING SECRETARY AND ONLY ONE TEAM MANAGER/DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL AFFAIRS. SALARIES ARE DRAWN FROM MEMBERSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS.
    4. NEW PLAYERS. LET THE DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL AFFAIRS IN CLOSE RELATIONS WITH THE TECHNICAL BENCH IDENTIFY GOOD PLAYERS FOR THE CLUB. ONCE THEY HAVE ON BOARD A GOOD PLAYER/PLAYERS . APPROACH CORPORATE SPONSORS WHO CAN FOOT THEIR SALARIES. THE CORPORATE SPONSOR MAY ALSO SEE AN OPPORTNUITY TO USE THE PLAYER/PLAYERS OR EVEN THE CLUB IN GENERAL TO BRAND THEIR MERCHANDISE AND THEREFORE RECOUPING ON THEIR INVESTMENTS. THE POINT HERE IS THAT A CLUB CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE SPONSOR…A GOLD SPONSOR, A SILVER SPONSOR AND A PLATINUM SPONSOR. ALL HAVE THEIR DIFFERENT ROLES.

THATS MY VISION FOR KOGALLO !

  • It’s sad that afteer releasing 4 players Moses Otieno has also decided to join Bandari. As much as we didn’t use him much Mose was one of the most creative midfielders we had. Let’s hope that this places are going to be filled with top notch players else we regret in the second leg of the leauge

Moses Otieno for me just wasnt good enough to be honest.Good as he may be,he just dint wow me!let him move to a team where he can get playing time then we can see his real potential.

Same thing goes for Ali…if you don’t perform to your real potential, you will be off loaded wherever you go.

It is my hope that the new recruits will reignite our title hunt and move us forward!!
